DENVER — The president of the Illinois chapter of the National Organization for Women is calling on state Senate President Emil Jones to immediately resign over the “Uncle Tom” flap, the Chicago Sun-Times has reported.
A black delegate for Hillary Rodham Clinton said Jones, one of Barack Obama’s political mentors, called her an “Uncle Tom.”
Chicago political consultant Delmarie Cobb said Jones made the remarks Saturday night while discussing her support for Clinton. She called the remark “fighting words” and unacceptable.
Jones, who also is black, said Monday that he never uttered the slur. He said he referred to Cobb and other Clinton supporters as “doubting Thomases.”

Sure you did, slimeball.
Too bad for you there are witnesses, bullying shithead.
Even your friends aren’t much of a help.
Cobb and at least two Chicago aldermen told friends that Jones made the “Uncle Tom” reference after a back-and-forth with the Senate president that started lightheartedly.
I wasn’t aware that the “Uncle Tom” insult was a joke these days.
Bonnie Grabenhofer, the president of the National Organization for Women’s Illinois chapter and a Clinton supporter, said the remarks that Cobb alleged Jones made symbolized “the incredible pressure that had been put on, particularly women, to support Barack Obama.”
“Women in Illinois had that pressure, and it was particularly hard for African-American women who were placed in the untenable position of having to chose between their race and between their gender,” Grabenhofer said.
Gee, too bad you didn’t get her alone and just smack her, ya know?
There is no end to the Obama Chicago Slime Trail is there?
And you want us to vote for this pig and his friends?

"This is not culture. This is not custom. This is criminal."
his son is probably another Kwame Kilpatrick. since when have black women become so passive? I woulda grabbed him by the testicles & pushed down the elevator shaft at that point. or maybe pulled a Cynthia McKInney.
Here’s an idea! Can we force Chicago to secede from the Union and then BO can be president of the thugs????
It did occur to me six months ago that if Obama looked like, say, yon Mr. Jones–or MLK, or any true African American (which BoBo is not, suckers) instead of like a horny white liberal’s fantasy black man–he never would hae been nominated. Now that’s racism liberal style for you. And you know what? I would have voted for a Presientially prepped MLK in a hearbeat.
Proud MM: LOL
Well Jones will likely meet KO at the convention and KO can give him lessons on taking a woman into a room and only the guy comes out!
Mom, I was kind of counting on sending him over to cousin Odinga. Seems to be his style. Kill the people who won’t vote for you.
Uppity- that is a wonderful idea- then they can kill each other while fighting over who gets to be number one asshole of Kenya
But can we make him take all his thugs with him? Including Brazile, pelosi and screamin dean??? Wright, Farrakhan, pfleger, ayers?? the whole damn bunch? Pretty please with whipped cream and a cherry on top!
Jeez, I wish Mary (at 6:57 pm) would just come out and say what she means….
It’s true that Obama has no African-American blood in him, as opposed to African blood. But, c’mon, ….in being biracial he has shades of that experience. Most, if not all, AAs have some degree of white blood in them. It’s true he’s quite goodlooking, but that doesn’t have to do with his being half-white. Also, he shares the experience of being black in America, which can’t be easy. I don’t think any bigot who harassed him (and we can be certain he had some of those experiences in his life) went lighter on him because he thought he was half-white or that his blackness hailed from Kenya instead of the South.
Uppity, as you know, that isn’t just any ChiTown thug — that’s the famous political godfather of Obama. (Jones was formerly a sewer inspector, which is an interesting detail.)
I don’t know quite how I feel about this particular issue. It doesn’t outrage me. I certainly feel women who didn’t vote for Hillary are “gender traitors,” and I’ve not been shy about telling a lot of them that to their faces. The sole exception to this has always been black women — I gave a pass because there is racial pride competing with gender identification. When she ran for president, Shirley Chisholm said she was more discriminated against for being a woman than for being black. I think I’d feel the same if I were a black woman — on the other hand, I don’t know with any degree of certitude that that’d be the case. I think slavery was a uniquely de-humanizing experience and one who hasn’t stood in the shoes of that history can’t quite comprehend it.
I do believe, of course, that a black person calling another black person an “Uncle Tom” is very different from threatening or otherwise harassing that person (like Jesse Jackson, Jr. did with several politico). The latter is of course intolerable and should be condemned. But, the posting didn’t hint at anything other than name-calling, so unless there’s more, I’m less than outraged.
I agree with Skyla’s comment at 6:56 pm. In Ms. Cobb’s shoes, I’d have taken him down. More needs she karate lessons than the ineffectual NOW jumping to her defense.
Dear NES
Harumph!
Too PC? I didn’t mean to be. I think it’s fine for people within identity groups to call each other names, as was done here. I think the contrary is too PC – I certainly wouldn’t want GLAAD or, even worse, a PC non-gay group to jump in and scold me ‘cos I called a gay boy a fairy (or the like).
But, hey, as I say, anything criticism that hurts Obama is ultimately fine with moi. Just can’t take NOW’s misplaced PC’ness here seriously.
Btw, this little snafu brings to mind a book I’d highly recommend, Shelby Steele’s “A Bound Man.” The subtitle is something like “Why We’re Drawn to Barack Obama And Why He Can’t Win.” It’s a quick, extremely enlightening read. Like all good theses, it’ll change the lens you view the world with — in this case, how blacks deal with the white world.

will soon be announced.
As for Jones: He is already set to retire and turn over his political power position legacy to his son (ya know like Nancy is preparing her dishonest daughter, Christine, who exclaimed obama as salvation on Fox last night.
It is Jones who has kept back the tide of IL legislature impeachment action against the Gov there- bozo’s buddy who was in the bag with him on Rezko’s dirty dealings. Jones was also the general of the thugs who crossed over to Indiana, in its primary, and shut down an entire district from reporting for 2 hrs- trying to pull a failed phony fixed win there for his close pal, obama.
nes, I detect white guilt. some of us live, work & play with AA’s. like Mary says, Barky is some white women’s wet dream. I personally don’t care about his identity issues & I like the real African experience. dark, big lips, chunky, cuddly & very very smart. Barky’s a showboat. a boy toy. as in not a real adult man. is that simple enough?
Uppity @ 7:41: I’ll submit to a round of waterboarding….
Skyla — I’m decidedly not white. I’m not sure there’s a stereotypical African American experience or typical features/character traits as you describe. I mean, look at Harold Ford, Jr. (of Tenn.). He’s all AA. But, he’s very different from Kobe Bryant. Or Condi Rice. Or Harry Belafonte. Or Sydney Poitier. And each of them are from each other. I think if you didn’t know Obama was half-Kenyan, you wouldn’t think him non-AA. So, no, I don’t think it’s simple at all.
I am, however, in 100 percent agreement with you that Barky’s a showboat, a boy toy, and that he hasn’t made the psychological turn toward adulthood. But, that wouldn’t make him different from a lot of jerks who run for the WH.
P.S.: In the showboat, boy toy, non-adult man category that ran for prez., I think we can include the examples of John Edwards and George W.
jac, I have that in queue to be posted. I’m doing my best to meet everybody’s really demanding demands to have things posted.
I haven’t had a break since early this morning except to wolf down some food.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Uppity Whinessssssssssss.
People with white guilt don’t last very long here. lol.
Or of any guilt, really.
I was born without guilt.
I was born Catholic and I’m Italian, so guilt is supposed to be in my DNA. Fortunately, I had a gene extraction.
nes: I meant literally AFRICAN from Africa. from my limited experience, they don’t seem to have the emotional baggage of A-A men. yes, black, white, yellow, red, men are dogs. but barky is the kind that licks his own stuff in public.
NES: I’m not at all certain that Obarfy has ever been a victim of racial discrimination. A rainbow of skin tones in HI, so not there; not at Occidental College in tossed-salad LA, nor at Columbia U. in multiracial Manhattan, nor yet again at that Lberal-Intellectual Central, Harvard U
No, Skyla got it right–”Barky is some white women’s wet dream.” To which I add, suppressed homosexual white men, too, as in, “He sends tingles up and down my leg,” or the other journalist who likened his feeling for Obama to pubescent sexual arousal. No, if BoBo weren’ the whitest looking black man arounf, he’d have bern lef by the side of the road.
With all due respect to you and that articulate and brilliant social observer Shelby Steele, white guilt is nothing more than a myth concocted by black racists like Wright and the Black Panthers, and foisted off upon the white PC crowd.
I know that somewhere in this country there is a black person who looks more like MLK thsn does Barky, and who shares the AA experience, who would make a great President. But that ain’t Barky!
Wow! You guys are a rough rough crowd. (Remind me never to run for prez!). I must say, i’m not used to being put-feraled. Where have you guys/gals been all my life?!
Listen. Mary, have you read the Steele book I refer to? I don’t believe it has anything to do with white guilt. As a Hoover, conservative scholar, Steele has no use for white guilt. Read it if you haven’t — it’s’abt 3 models of negotiating the white world if you’re a black guy (Sharpton vs. Obama/Poitier vs. Cosby ver. 2.0 types) and which one works (Cosby). It’s’a fascinating intellectual read.
NES: This is apparently not the book about which I heard Steele being interviewed several monts ago Thanks for the recommendaon. I’ll try to get hold of it. Would appreciate the full title again, please.
Sure. It’s A Man Bound: Why We Like Barack Obama And Why He Won’t Win.
Pretty sure that if you go to Amazon and put in Shelby Steele and Man Bound, it’ll pop up.
The folks from cities will recognize Jones as the reason cities have slums.
He’s a black politician who is too busy helping himself to help others.
And he chooses to bully a woman.
Uncle Fester Jones can kiss my ass.
NES: Please explain “im not used to being put-feraled.” If it’s a bad thing, I’m sorry.
Thanks, NES. Just put a hold on the book at the library. I’m number one in the queue, so three weeks at the most till I get it.
Oh no, it’s quite an achievement! I’m quite feral, so it’s rare that I’m outpaced in feralness. (That was a typo, btw – I meant “out-feraled.”)
Uncle Tom comment real low. Sad this dude could not fend off an opponent otherwise. Typical method of last resort to hit below belt.
Obama Camp= Real Low R Us
