I am watching Hillary’s speech and I don’t think it’s up to the level of her concession, which was gracious and thrilling.

There was no real passion in this speech. She was beautifully made up and coiffed – but she didn’t look radiant. She looked resilient but not radiant.

I don’t understand it. I suppose that is why Barky never felt an urge to visit his mother (who unloaded him on this planet) when she was dying. He preferred to sign up voters.

There was a great AA Clinton Delegate interviewed on CNN- what a powerful statement this delegate made. Except she said she wouldn’t be voting for McCain, but might stay home. That Barfy has two months to woo her. Well, there is no wooing on earth that that useless piece of crap can do for me to get my vote. Now, more than ever, I will make sure to vote McCain – the DNC MUST pay for this atrocity.

OK. I don’t know that I am really a Republican as much as I am a moderate independent — sometimes I vote Democratic, sometimes I vote Republican. It’s just that the Democratic Party has really angered me this year. I would have voted for Clinton had she been the nominee. I just can’t stomach Obama in the White House. What that guy and his underlings did in the primaries has made me lean much more toward the Republicans now. When I found your site I assumed that it was advocating for McCain. Again, I am sorry.
I also agree with what was said about MSNBC. I used to watch that network, but their quest to annoint Obama has also pushed me to watch Fox News. I think I gave up on MSNBC when Chris Matthews made that statement about a “feeling” he had on his leg during an Obama speech. That isn’t journalism as much as it is propoganda!
I’ll likely vote for McCain for president, but I might just vote for no one. If this election shakes down the way I think it will, McCain will win the presidency, and the Dems are likely to keep their majorities in the House and the Senate. I’m comfortable with that kind of Republican-Democratic balance. If Clinton runs again in 4 more years, I plan on voting for her.

Good evening (late night for some of you). I live in Denver so it’s only just after 10. First, Hillary was so presidential, wasn’t she? A class act, as Larry has posted on NQ. No, I won’t vote for BO even with her speech. But, she has more class in her little finger than BO and his sychophants.
Michelle….good grief, she’s a sore winner and a sour puss. She couldn’t pull off what Hillary had to do on the stage of the convention after being treated like whale crap.
My tearful moment: Camera on Bill, who mouthed to Hillary: I love you honey, I love you forever. All through the primary season I saw that. (despite his infidelities), there was love there. Not stagecraft, not put on. This is a family who has been to hell and back, with personal shit all over the media all the time, and they have endured, overcome, and remain a family.
I admire and respect Hillary, even as I cannot BELIEVE the Dems shoved her aside for such an inferior candidate. I am going to send her a letter of support, along with a copy of the editorial my 10yo daughter wrote about her treatment at the end of June. It was for her home school newspaper. To let her know that my husband, for the first time in his life, was strongly considering voting Dem for Pres…had it been Hillary. To share the letter my dd wrote to her grandpa in NM to urge him to vote Hillary in the primary. And to let her know the candidate selected by the DNC is translated into 2 votes for McCain in November from 2 independent, blue collar voters.

McCain is obviously my first choice, given the alternative. A few of his stances on domestic policy issues give me pause, but at least I know what I’m getting with him. Obama is still a blank page at this point . . . his policy proposals change on a daily basis!
I must tell you that I loved that. My house was built in 1860 and was used during the Underground Railroad.
I also think he is losing dems with his handling of Hillary and her supporters too. He has always behaved like a punk and a sullen teen when it came to Hillary, and Bill (or the audacity of a tough question from the press). He is not presidential material, and we all see he is no statesman. He couldn’t punch his way out a paper bag. Hillary, SHE is presidential, she would be a great statesman and a credit to our country.
I have voted for both parties and third parties. I voted for Al Gore, but couldn’t bring myself to vote for Kerry (ducking). I voted all dem in 2006…and am very disappointed, to say the least. I used to respect Howard Dean, and Biden. I was excited about the Dems with Hillary leading. I’ve watched many Dem conventions, and this one is just flat and not worth my time. I tuned in for HIllary tonight, I will tune in for Bill tomorrow. I will attempt to watch Thursday, but likely won’t make it.
At least it was a teaching opportunity for my daughter…the good old boys are alive, well and running over women, even today. Be vigilant.

I got an email from the Mccain camp (I signed up after June 2nd or whatever that horrible day was) and it said that they were preparing for a 15 point bounce for Barry from the convention. Were they “highballing” it on purpose or is this the normal bounce post convention?

Uppity Woman (is it OK if I address you this way?), I think you are right on point. The VP pick can make or break the campaign. Obama’s biggest mistake over the summer was not picking Clinton for VP when he had the chance. It wouldn’t have been as optimal as having her at the top of the ticket, but he could have reached out to her and given her the respect she deserves.
As for McCain, I fear he will pick Pawlenty, who doesn’t impress me at all. Who are Carly and Meg?
HRC’s speech was perfectly done under these horrible circumstances; however, the video was truly moving.

McCain demonstrates a respect for women. At the Denver townhall meeting, a female business owner introduced him (I’m thinking she runs Crocs). He has high placed (and well paid) women in his campaign. I do think it would be a coup for him to choose a female VP. I saw Carly interviewed by Greta van Susteren tonight and she dodged the female vp question, but made assurances that women would play a strong role in a McCain administration.

Good grief! A 160-plus comments. I just got home from watching The Speech from the home of good friends. I haven’t had a chance — not nearly eno’ to read all the comments — but I’m a hundred percent behind this one of Uppity’s:

Did anyone not the color she was wearing. As an erstwhile, very short term Leo Straussian, but as a lifetime adherent of what Uppity consels re understand what someone’s not saying, I note that she was wearing ORANGE. Just a random choice? Unlikely with the Clintons we know and love. Orange is the color of the Ukranian revolutionaries, who protested the “selection” of the rigged party candidate, whatever his name was. It wasn’t Yuvshenko, is my point. In the modern political imagination, ORANGE is a color of a successful revolution. I don’t think Hillary was signaling revolution now, however (she’s too good of a girl for that, to my everlasting disappointment). It was wait till ‘12 and vote for her on the roll call until she ceases the process.
I thank god that she didn’t lie in saying he was prepared to be president or to take the 3 am call. He’s not. Period. And, now the networks are complaining! The irony of it! …A Clinton refuses to lie, and that’s now a SIN. Gimme a break.
I was so proud of Hillary. And, she celebrated exactly what I voted for. Not the Dem party (perennial prez election losers) or her policies (policies, schmolocies), but rather for a competent, brainy, ballbuster of a woman prez. YAH!!

Whitman would definitely be a good VP candidate. She has proven herself at both the federal and state levels.

There was a picture of her on the front page of the NYT, ascending the Capitol Hill steps for the healthcare hearings with a brief bag, and the caption said, “Hillary Clinton ascending the Capitol Steps, her briefcase heavy with the nation’s business.” “Heavy with the nation’s business” — THIS was the key. In other nations, Hillary’d be Shiva, Athena, you name it…an iconic female figure. Ironically, here, she’s a distrusted she-devil. Why? Because her rise here — unlike the rise of divas like Benazir Bhutto in Pak., or Indira Gandhi in India, or Bandranaike in Sri Lanka, or Akino in the Philippines, or Rehman in Bangladesh, or Thatcher in the UK — would be seen as the rise of ALL women everywhere (not just , as in those other countries, a sui generis ballbuster of a woman).

To all a huge thank you. I thought I was going to have to sit through this by myself. The MSNBC and others are still questioning her undying devotion to the One. I suppose she will have to just eat it as she won’t be around to be kicked any longer. He is on his own. Interviews with HRC supporters were tepid. Many just said they would see it out. Buyer’s remorse for many. I don’t think Barky can top her speech, but I am sure the the MSM will tell me he did.
I think I know why she wore an orange suit. Orange, on the colorwheel is a complementary color to blue, which was the background for her speech. Orange and blue go good together. Y’all figure out the symbolism here.
Barbara, I love that you think it was merely color coordination. And, maybe it was. But, I’m holding onto my theory that it was a subtle sartorial political comment. There’s not much else we have to hang on to. Apparently, the delegate count was held and lost today. The theft is now complete.
As I watched the convention I pictured a dark ground in which thorns and briar bushes have grown in these last months. These thorns and briar bushes have infested our party. The biggest thorn is Pelosi, and we need to confiscate her position and cast her back in the streets of California. We also must make sure that women like Donna Brazile is swamped with emails and chase her around CNN with protest letters. We need to threaten to choke out Keith and Chris out of their contracts with MSNBC and clean house over there. And while we are at it, we need to take Emperor Arcadius Obama with his counselors, Axerod, Dean, Dodd, Richardson, Kerry , Carolina, Oprah, Kennedy and yes, the cheating Edwards, and feed them to the sharks- because that is what they are thug sharks!

God I’m so glad to have sites like this to go to…The convention has just left me feeling so desperate and alienated, and the Clintons were so moving and persuasive. Look, I hate the GOP, I love Democrats, I love being a Democrat. But I need to keep my resolve up — NO OBAMA — and you all help me do it.
