If she had let the convention fall in chaos and fight, there wouldn’t be a Democratic Party to start over.

As I look back, this all is the political equivalent of beating the crap out of your wife, coming home with flowers and beating her up again. When something is that unthinkable, we must ensure that it cannot endure. We owe it to the sisters before us who fought some horrendous fights just to be treated like a human being.
We must not be invaded by their silly noise about roe v wade and other things they have been holding over our heads for DECADES–to keep us in line. Look at the “equal pay” threat. It’s no coincidence that Orange has become the symbol of -democratic- revolution worldwide. This is, of course, in contrast with the kind of revolution that that good old BO and friends endorse, which is symbolized with the color Red.

This whole episode has illustrated why fellow citizens and the country are more important than either party. Parties are run by politicians, and even politicians I end up voting for I don’t fully trust. Republican and Democrat voters are not enemies, or at least shouldn’t be in a healthy democracy, even if the politicians of either party tend to screw up our country if their feet aren’t held to the fire constantly by us voters. Every time we let them get away with a little something, it’s a sign that they should try to get away with something a little bigger next time, at our expense.
This year, the Republican primary voters ignored their pundits and political leadership and the far right and voted in the most moderate presidential candidate amongst the choices they had. Democrat primary voters attempted to do the same, especially after the Wright tapes hit the air, but the party leadership chose to ignore them and force the far-left candidate on everyone.
Our Founders would probably be horrified at the way this party system has entrenched itself in our democracy, to the point where voter registration cards act like symbols of tribal membership. We’re all supposed to be Americans first and foremost. Country, family, friends, god (if you’re the religious type) – these and a lot more should be more important than party. Instead, we enforce civility in school elections, but then grow up and think it’s okay to call fellow honest citizens “Demoncrats” and “Rethuglicans” and so on. Meanwhile party leaders on both sides demand we vote for them, and try to enforce “party unity” just because we have the same collection of consonants and vowels on a piece of paper in our wallets.
Hopefully, McCain will win this time, showing the (R) party leadership that yes, a moderate Republican -is- acceptable to the country (far right blogs hate McCain, and gleefully want him to lose – those folks need to be taught a lesson as well). And let’s hope that if Obama loses that the (D) leadership understands that next time around the far-left wing is better off ignored – oh, and that it’s about time to get rid of their obscene and corrupt superdelegate system, and to clean up their caucuses.
Of course, if Obama somehow manages to win, well… I really do fear for this nation’s future.

Even before then, I was thoroughly disgusted by the treatment of Hillary from fellow senators. Leahy and others telling her to drop out when she was winning all the big primaries? I don’t imagine we’ll ever really know what was going on behind the scenes in D.C., but, whatever it was, it had nothing to do with Democracy.
Perhaps what surprises me most is the relatively few Democrats who seem to be outraged by all of this. Why were they outraged when Bush repeatedly broke the laws of this country but indifferent when the Dems did the same thing? Sadly, I’ve seen comments by several Repubs coming onto PUMA sites just to offer words of solidarity–not for Clinton, although they mention their respect for her–but for the travesty that the Democratic primaries and convention became. Maybe this is what happens when Civics is stripped from high school curriculums.
I’m fairly certain that Texas Darlin and Larry Johnson have been correct all along in foreshadowing the opposition attacks that the Repubs will take against Obama. Consequently, I expect to see McCain win in November. We’ll survive 4 years of McCain, but I’m not sure we’ll survive the complete degradation of the Democratic party.

I am a black female in Ohio, and voted for Hillary in the Ohio Primary. It is amazing how Backtrackbarack has bamboozled so many people. I have to hand it to the Republicans who, almost 40 years ago, realized that they were not winning elections and decided to be brutally honest in examining why that was so. I may not admire some of the methods they adopted, but at least they blamed themselves instead of the voters. When Obama loses, the Dems will blame everything and everyone but themselves–just as they did when Kerry lost. As long as the Dems are only interested in ruling, rather than governing, they will continue to lose and continue to wonder why, and continue to blame others. Turning around the party is a huge task. I don’t know how many PUMAs understand this.

The relationship I had with the Democratic Party was abusive and one sided; it has been terminated. The party does not believe someone with my packaging is smart enough to run the country so the party should not be dumb enough to count on my vote or volunteering or contributions. As long as we allow ourselves to be taken for granted we will always have our noses pressed against the window while someone else gets the goodies. It is a political version of “why buy the cow when you get the milk free?”

If your support for Hillary Clinton was the for the right reasons-her positions on the issues (and not her gender etc.) -you should realize that HRC is more ideologically similar to BO than she is to John McCain. Logically if you don’t get your first choice you go for the next best thing.
I feel like this P.U.M.A movement belittles Hillary Clinton’s accomplishment rather than honoring it. For “loyal” Clinton supporters you don’t seem to really respect her wishes-whether or not she was as enthusiastic as she seemed. Do you really think that HRC wants another 4 years of Republic rule in order to legitimize her presidential bid?
If you give in to McCain’s spirited attempts to stoke the fires tended by P.U.M.A you will have allowed yourself to be slighted by the wiles Republican.
Finally, any criticism directed at the Clintons for-in effect-recanting there statements against Obama should be thoroughly thought through. Of course the Clintons said those things on the campaign trail; they were running for president against an unexpectedly strong candidate. It was bad, really bad, but what we now see is reconciliation. Why is that such a bad word nowadays?

For me, this wasn’t just about Hillary. It was about Barack Obama. I confess I was VERY impressed with his speech at the 2004 convention. I didn’t know at the time that this was all he had. A speech with catchy platitudes. I lost any thoughts of him as a President the first time I saw one of his rallies, reminiscent of a Youth Movement of another time gone by. By the second time I saw him rally, I was downright frightened for America. And that’s the truth. I would have accepted one of the other candidates if Hillary lost to them–legiitmately. But I would neither accept him nor did he win legiitmately. His caucus fraud is legendary. The rearranging of districts was downright indictable, so that he could LOSE a state and still come out with nearly as many delegates as Hillary. And in the case of texas , he came off with more. The man is a Chicago Thug. He kneecapped and cheated his way to this nomination and he doesn’t deserve to be the President of my country.

I watched the third day of the convention . They must have agreed to pay Hillary’s debt on the spot for her to have said to set aside the rules..that must have been the dnc’s bargain. I watched in horror….as this time instead of setting Florida and Michigan aside…they set every state in the alphabet past Illinois…conveniently having the huge state of Ca pass……then ignoring the other major states of Texas, and Ny ..and Ill…….All I can say is the DNC must have been afraid he still wouldn’t reach the magic number…as I heard the actual roll call was in the early morning before any of the delegates went to the pepsi center. So the DNC already knew the outcome…and it was also before Hillary had released her delegates.. Then the awful Nancy Pelosi…who just happened to be right there when Hillary delivered their bidding with the acclamation business….what a crock! ……still didn’t put it to a vote she merely said Oh well 2/3 already voted So he’s the nominee…………..I was dumbstruck…………this nomination was everybit as rigged as George Bush’s 2 terms with the voting machines. I will never again vote for a democrat or republican. And now they are putting it all over Huffpo…that the crowds were screaming for him to be the nomination…….and like it wasn’t the president in waiting Pelosi..who delivered the nomination to him. I have so had it with the crooked politicians on both sides of the isle. I was hopeing Hillary would go independent…that wuld at least ruin Obama’s chances. I will never vote for Obama. Hillary was only saying these things under duress…so I don’t know why she did what she did….but it won’t unify me………they even had the Hillary protestors in the back of the room and the Unity sign wavers upfront so we’d all be so stupid as to think the party is unified…..what a setup that was……………
