What was that comic called where the beefy Russian guy always had a gold star on his chest that said HERO or something like that? I saw Paulson yesterday on The Smirker and he is awfully quick to get his blank check…I heard they couldn’t even FIND those bad loans–they are all balled up into those securities…Still, the Dems are going to Christmas tree this if they can…Junior was on 60 minutes trying to find a fence to straddle as usual. Even Steve Croft was about to give him the hurry-up, find a point and get to it hand signal.

don’t worry about the bailout. President Obama is going to cover it by cutting spending on no-bid contracts like he did for Uncle Tony in IL. his friend Gov Blagojevich will help him with some fine new ethics legislation.
BO says today “We are here because an ethic of irresponsibility has swept through our government, leaving politicians with the belief they can waste billions and billions of your money on no-bid contracts for friends and contributors, slip pork projects into bills during the dead of night and spend billions on corporate tax breaks we can’t afford and old programs we don’t need,”

uppity – I love your graphics – that poster is awesome. I got an invitation from moveon today to join Camp Obama. They are hot on my trail, I guess, and I am about to be reeducated.
I am only half joking about this since I went to grad school with Chinese women who spent much of their adult lives being reeducated until they finally got F-1 visas, came here and managed to stay. They left parents, husbands, kids behind. Told me they never really knew them.

Somebody really SHOULD coordinate a modern day symbolic tea party that occurs all over America on the same day. And it should all happen in front of Federal office buildings.
I do not understand why McCain is not running a television ad quoting his 2006 comments about Fannie and Freddie and comparing it to the fact that Obama entered Congress that year and quickly became the 2nd biggest recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie and Freddie.
I knew someone who reviewed loan applications during that time and she told my parents that a lot of people were getting loans who were not financially qualified to get these loans. She said at the time that these lending institutions and banks were taking advantage of and profiting from the ignorance and dreams of people and that it would lead to trouble in the future for everyone.
She said that institutions like Fannie and Freddie were pretending to be champions of the poor and minorities, often suggesting discrimination when loans were not being given to minorities, to increase their own revenues. This resulted in a lot of high risk loans.
Dodd and Franks should stop talking about this unless it is to explain why they failed to provide competent oversight over these financial institutions. Dodd with his wide-eyed surprise look after meeting with Paulson should have had a clue when he got a special deal from Countrywide that these lenders were not dotting their i’s or crossing their t’s.
I want to know what happened and when it happened and what specifically is their plan to make things better before I agree to give a dime to Congress or the Treasury to “solve” a problem they had a role in creating.
I want the MSM to research the financial institutions in Chicago and how the poor and minorities were targeted by these greedy lenders. Did Obama do anything to protect the people of Chicago or was the sum of his involvement and experience on this issue the deal he made with Rezko? Is their substance to his claims or is it just talk?
MMI this whole mess STARTED in chicago. Read my piece written on the 16th about Obama’s campaign finance chair penny pritzker. SHe owned the failed superior bank in chicago. She was a predatory lender and her bank was seized in 2001. That’s right. SHe was the pioneer. You think Obama stopped HER? They’re pals.

Thank you Uppity. My stomach was only half-full, now it is completely empty….LOL. I guess “incorrect accounting treatment and aggressive assumptions” really means purposeful blindness to facts and figures fueled by greed.
If people like Pritzker are advising Obama, then it is no surprise he has no idea what to do about the crisis.
Thank goodness bloggers like yourself are doing the research and providing important information about Obama and this economic problem, and it is written in language that even someone like me can understand. We can’t depend on the MSM to report it. I am not sure if it is because they are in the tank for Obama or because they don’t have the ability to understand the issue to report about it or maybe a combination of the two.
I want transparency not only in how any money will be spent to solve the crisis, but on how this crisis came about.
I hope McCain and Palin will find a way to talk about these issues in a way that is easily understood, and relevant for voters. He is able to do that with national security and moral issues. I hope he will use that same style to talk about the economy.
