As to the debate: I had a sinking feeling during the whole thing. I am even more enamored of McCain, but wanted him to do more tonight. I think he was way too conciliatory. The only thing we can hope for is a good old terror alert to take the focus off the economy and Barky–maybe Bush can do a favor for Mac??
I don’t think I can handle it if Barky actually wins. I’ve been out of work for the third month in a row (self-employed), and I’m running out of optimism about everything.

McCain won on the most important topic, the economy. His mortgage bailout idea is stunning and can be paid for out of the $700b already allocated. Brilliant. This is a winning issue and a winning strategy.

It was just another pissant boring debate with the same pissant journalistic questions framed for regular people who would never ask the questions that way. It was a controlled situation made for Barack Obama who is worthless impromptu. This was a waste of time in every sense. Useless bullcrap. Somebody needs to pull the plug on interjecting the main stream media people into these events. Brokaw is a bore and his handling of this event was boring just like he is. It was like listening to the boriing nightly news on his boring network with him as the boring anchor. It’s just too damned bad that these jerks can’t get the hell out of the way and turn these two guys loose so we can actually LEARN something about these two candidates that we don’t already know. This event was so unnatural and contrived that I could just spit. My God, the people in that room weren’t even allowed to breathe!

But don’t tell his hysterical supporters that he’s only half-black. To them, his flesh tone is his single and sufficient qualification for the Presidency. Over at TD’s site, we’ve heard that they don’t even care if he’s an American citizen. They’d elect a Martian if he were black.

Last night Morris said that McCain could have opened the Ayers discussion when Obama talkd about his support for education. McCain needed to tell America that working in concert, Ayers and Obama came close to destroying the Chicago pubic schools by radicalizing them.
Unless the Repubs have exceptional dirt on Obama, this whole thing is over. Gof help us all.
