U.S. Rep. John Murtha says his home base of western Pennsylvania is racist and that could reduce Barack Obama’s victory margin in the state by 4 percentage points.
The 17-term Democratic congressman tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in a story posted Wednesday on its Web site that, as he put it: “There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area.”
He says it’s taken time for many Pennsylvania voters to come around to liking Obama, but he should still win the state, though not in a runaway.
In a separate interview posted Wednesday on the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s Web site, Murtha says Obama has a problem with the race issue in western Pennsylvania that could shave 4 points off his lead in the state.

Okay, it’s official. I’m a masochist. I watched the debate and felt McCain totally won. His answers were clear and concise. He hit Barry strong and he looked and sounded presidential. I then flipped through the channels only to learn that he actually lost…badly. He was angry and bitter. He was misinformed. He looked weak. Barry was, of course, brilliant! This is the way it always goes. Time and time again, I am wrong about my candidate. Even Hillary told me, with great enthusiasm, how wrong I was about tonight’s debate. Only fools or folks who care about this great country, would subject themselves to these constant media beatings…or masochists.

Didn’t watch the debates, but read some of your reactions (which I trust) and the reports off of Yahoo (which I don’t trust). Seems McCain came out swinging, but because the Obama campaign came out with their talking points for their buddies, the media, the media earlier today reported that McCain had to Rattle Obama in order to win. No surprise here, the stories are saying exactly that…Obama not rattled so McCain lost. Haha! What a joke the media has become. Of course the polls will say Obama won, blah, blah, blah! They were probably printed up prior to the debate. Don’t worry John! Independents who watched will be swayed in your direction. I also noticed in one story the response Obama gave on Ayers….he still left out so much information repeating he was only 8 at the time. Obama is a FRAUD!

This evening I talked to a long-time friend of mine (since the first grade – and we’re getting old) who is married to a staunch republican – she has always registered independent. It was very interesting – at least to me. They were both big W. supporters and I was a big Clinton supporter so we haven’t really talked politics. Or rather, they talked and I listened – but they always knew I was a dem. They talked about how difficult it was tolerating Bill Clinton (W. was their savior). Hard to believe for me!! They were orgasmic for W. – just like the bots are for Obama. It really does blow my mind that normal people can go so nuts over an obvious loser…
Anyway, talking to them tonight – the husband admitted that he very tepidly supports McCain and my friend will not admit but gave me every clue that she’s voting for Obama and here’s the reason why…
She’s tired of people being mean to W. Seriously! She wants a Dem. in the WH so that she can have fun blaming HIM for all the problems. These are smart people – my friend and her husband…for real.
I finally said, man-up. Stop whining. Don’t you think I felt the same way when they were lynching Bill Clinton? I still voted for Al Gore – KNOWING there would be more lynchings. I told her husband, aren’t you happy that I’m choosing the best person and not voting the party line? He wasn’t – he’s still sulking over W. GEEEEEZ.
I swear from here on out – if I feel myself “crazed” over a candidate, I’m not voting – for the good of the country. I’ve seen too many really smart people vote for nutjobs they’re in love with.

That’s the dark side of being a Republican. There are some whiny little bitches in my party who call themsleves conservatives who pout when they don’t get their way. This year, it’s NRO, Malkin, Powerline and half the commentators on Fox News.
I suppose we will differ on this, but I think the media gave Bill Clinton a free ride for the length of his first term and it helped to easily win him a second. I think in 1996 a caller to Rush Limbaugh said that conservatives should stay home and not vote for Bob Dole because he wasn’t conservative enough. Limbaugh said if you wait for the perfect conservative candidate, we’ll have 1000 years of Democrats while conservatives wait for their perfect savior.
So, the Republican party has to wake the hell up now. Anything but unwavering support for McCain will lead to total destruction of the economy and civil liberties by an Obama-Pelosi-Reid triumverate. One party Congressional rule gave us ACORN who used and abused campaign laws to the point where your vote does not count for what is used to. There will be NO ACORN investigations under BO. In fact, they could receive billions more from the government.

I really hated the after debate comments by Brit and panel…but later I thought different of it. Really, I think FOX bends over a little too far backwards sometimes to be “fair and balanced” and they still get dubbed FAUX NEWS by the sillies who don’t probably don’t even watch it in the first place.
Recently and even in the debate, Obama has time after time whined about Sean Hannity and FOX News in general hurting his precious little feelings.
It really makes him look the childish fool when the FOX News shows actually go out of their way to put on slanted panels (two moderates and two liberals in the Brit panel) that pretty much put McCain down and gave it to Obama.

I agree on the Fox panel–I was surprised. Even Fred Barnes, who can always be counted on to be crazily partisan, crinked McCain for missing opps. I thought he hit most of them. I really need not to watch more propaganda and decide for myself–and cancel my Newsweek sub, too. I am sick of their flop! The press wants Junior–because they think he will be good copy and fodder for their failing careers. They are such whores. (I am a reporter, so it pains me to say this.)
