A running prediction has been that as soon as the presidential election was over Barack Obama’s ultra leftwing supporters would be front and center on panels, writing articles, speaking, etc.
Already we’ve had unrepentant Communist terrorist Billy Ayers’ whiney-assed missive published November 7, 2008, at leftie In These Times and reposted elsewhere. See RBO’s Time to shut up now, Bill.
Then we had Obama’s spiritual mentor and pastor of 20+ years, Rev. Jeremiah “God-Damn-AmeriKKKa” Wright, as keynote speaker for the FMO State of the Black Union at Chicago’s Northwestern University, with Billy Ayers in the audience. See RBO’s Wright speaks, Ayers listens.
Now we have the New York Times’ Manny Fernandez’s November 9, 2008, article 1960s Radicals Predict Rebirth of Social Activism, reporting on a meeting of “three former political radicals” at the Steven Kasher Gallery in Chelsea — Tom Hayden, founder of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and a member of the Chicago Seven, “tried on charges of conspiring to incite a riot at the Democratic National Convention in 1968″; Weather leader Bernardine Dohrn, unrepentant Communist terrorist and wife of Billy Ayers; and Jamal Joseph, who as a young Black Panther in Harlem “went to prison in the ’80s for harboring a fugitive” — to “discuss the 1960s and the impact of an Obama presidency on the American political left.”
The moderator was Joshua Micah Marshall, editor and publisher of the leftie political blog Talking Points Memo, which provided a platform for vicious Lobotobots.
The discussion on Saturday was organized to promote an exhibition of photographs by David Fenton, who chronicled street protests and the lives of counterculture figures in the late 1960s and early ’70s. The exhibition, which runs until Nov. 26 at the Steven Kasher Gallery, features more than 75 photographs of Columbia University protests, Central Park be-ins and Black Panther demonstrations. Mr. Fenton went on to become chief executive of Fenton Communications, which represents the liberal antiwar group MoveOn.org.
Mr. Fenton, who also sat on the panel, said he had not seen Ms. Dohrn since he photographed the Days of Rage protests in Chicago in 1969.
Fernandez provided the singular quote that even remotely justifies his article’s title:
Hayden said “young Obama supporters ‘will determine the role of social activism for the next 30 years’ and will be inspired by Mr. Obama to pursue community organizing work instead of Wall Street jobs. ‘A community organizer has been elected president of the United States…’”
Nothing like a trio of aging gray-haired terrorists to tell us what Obama’s young supporters might do. But then, when you think about it, they have been engaged for a few decades programming and indoctrinating those young’ns.
Oh GAWDD!!! Gird your loins everyone!!!
Lovely. I lived in Santa Monica (Tom Hayden’s old stomping grounds) in the early to mid 80’s. I cannot tell you what all his “activism” did for that community; suffice to say, it was in as bad a shape as present-day Chicago. Jeebus, what is it with this wanting to revisit their “childhoods”? They’ve left a legacy of destruction and failure, and think that with the election of BO they can “get it right this time”? The pendulum has swung way to far to the left, methinks. These people are losers, plain and simple. History revisionist disorder, here we come.
If it weren’t for Democracy in america these people would have faced a firing squad. Who the hell asked them for their 2Cents anyway. Go away you people. Just go away.
OT: Ever have the feeling you’re being watched?
Just sitting there at your computer, quietly minding your own business and get this crawling feeling right around the base of your neck. A little crawling feeling up your shirt?
Well from Drudge:
“SICK SURVEILLANCE: GOOGLE REPORTS FLU SEARCHES, LOCATIONS TO FEDS
Now I find this creepy. What else is being told to the KGB?
I am having flashbacks……”The People’s Republic of Santa Monica”……rent controlled housing (our bathroom had a wall caving in; the landlords would do nothing due to lack of funds), homeless people taking over Palisades Park, rampant drug use, crime, panhandling; oh it was joy. Never have I been so happy to move AWAY from the beach as I was the day I moved out of Santa Monica. Tommy H wants to relive his activist days? We need a satire movie made like “Wild Hogs” about these leftover loser geezers. Seriously—how do you rewrite history to show how supposedly successful you were with all of your far-left activities? There’s enough of us around to debunk these BS fairytales as long as we speak up. Thanks UW.

All that Ayers and Dorhn had to do was to establish the proper political channels – because they had learned already that using bombs and acting like terrorists in America would not help them to achieve their ultimate goal of a government takeover. What would help them to suceed would be to align themselves in political and educational venues in order to implant their ideals into the government.
Criminy now I can’t post in Tips. I guess it is my computer. so, excuse me I am going to paste this here.
Just when I was settling in. I really thought a lot of the tension here in the my city has eased since the election. Look at this other city and its reminder: they will be back – with guns. Scroll down and take a lookey.
http://patriotroom.com/barack-obama-black-panthers-and-ak-47s/
ROFLOL. Really. These people are just as clueless and irrelevant as they were back in the day. And if they think BO gives a rat’s ass about any community (except the one comprised of the voices in his head)…wait, I mean any more than they ever really cared about “the people”…
And then the fools in the media pretending like their blibber blubber is worth reporting. So pathetic, all these geezers trying to relive the “glory” of their utter and complete failure. They are too stupid to realize BO used them as stepping stones, that goes for the whole distasteful lot of his associations and spiritual advisers.
TWS-count the “new” Black Panthers as irrelevant too. BO only cares about BO. If any of these loonies impede him in his pursuit of glory, (or at least good poll numbers), they’ll be thrown off the train. Any person of any race or creed who believes BO really took this path to “help people” is in for a rude awakening.
Indy, I think those Panthers are going to be the foundation of his Civlian Army. I really like your 4:43 post. well said.
I agree about the panthers. Thank God the National Guard is led by Governors, not presidents. We saw what they were up to on election day with their billy clubs. If they all think everybody is going to put up with intimidation, then somebody forgot to tell them the part about the 60s that wasn’t so romatic…starting with Kent State.
Some site you guys sent me to called him the Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers–clever, I thought.
Thwy wanted their “historic” presdent. Let’s see how it long it takes them and him to destroy everything in sight.. Then they’ll be the masters over…nothing.
All so predictable … and I DID predict this! Yet trying to relate these connections to supporters of Obamanation lead to vitriolic responses that I was a Republican lackey and that I was blind to the new truth that Obama represents.
Yeah right.
gosh, this brings back too many gawdawful memories, similar to Irlandese’s. Back in the day, I worked for a telecom being a customer service type, taking orders, collecting bills etc. We had an apartment building which was communal – the first and last one for many years. The students that inhabited it were followers of the Tom Hayden dogma (but they didn’t have his connections or money). It got so bad that the company would not provide telephone service, police raids were a daily occurrence, people in the neighborhood mounted petitions to get rid of it. – drugs, rape, murder, you name it.
At the beginning, it seemed like a noble experiment to some, yet it turned into the worst nightmare partially because the majority of tenants thought that the world owed them a living and they had no need to obey the laws of the land or respect people. Took five years, but the building was condemned, razed and it’s now a nightmare that only people like me remember – one heck of a failed experiment in social engineering.
And now, these people want to reintroduce that mindthought again? Gawd help us.
Yet trying to relate these connections to supporters of Obamanation lead to vitriolic responses that I was a Republican lackey and that I was blind to the new truth that Obama represents
Yeah–we all get this or a lot of us. It’s fun to annoy those people, tho. Yeah, new truths…well, they will see. Or not.
Type I have contacted WordPress Support on the inability to comment on the tab pages. I can’t do it either.
Ok I figured it out. It’s my setting to close comments after a number of days. Damn.
Hmmm…….
Purple Haze Days. redux.
(Uppity, you should see Bill and his today…)
The Baby Boom and its malcontents.
Now trying to write screenplays…
ps: where is Fonda? Isn’t she next up or something?
geez. Uppity you scooped it first in that piece you did months ago — I’ll never forget it. Maybe cause I lived those days out as a young lil thing wearing clothes we designed from Indian bedspreads we bought at Pier 1.
pathchouliville redux………
Detroit in the 60’s–what a riot! (pun intended). My memory Lane is in a real bad neighborhood. I have no desire to revisit it. This nostalgia for all that peace, love, and rock and roll that never really existed is plain stupid. These aging hippies just don’t like getting old.
As for today’s young people becoming community organizers, I think they are far too spoiled to give up all their goodies for a life of so-called service. Unless Mom and Pop keep paying their bills, of course. Somehow I think Obama’s presidency may give mom and pop a rude wake-up call, especially when they realize their little darlings are responsible for the loss of their retirement money.
Turn on the lights and the roaches start to scurry. Hannity is playing a recording of father pflegar preaching about “o’s” win….CREEPY.
There never was universal peace, love and rock and roll. It was a chimera, a media created situation – sound familiar?. The only ones who bought into it then as now, were youngsters with parents who supported their lil darlins, so they had all the time in the world to run around and be “free”. Those of us who had to work, and raised their kids to work are not buying into the media hype. My only concern, how long will it take to repair this time?
Valentine, Fonda is now a born again Christian and probably has no intention of standing next to these yahoos now.
Purple Haze at your service!
But when i think of Ayers and the time in which he ‘reigned” I think of Blood Sweat and Tears’ Sympathy for the Devil.
I can tell you one group happy to see Obama in the WH–gun shop owners. Today’s paper had an article on the huge increase in gun (all shapes and sizes) sales. I myself having been getting ready for Ayers’ “revolution” by watching Dirty Harry movies; I’ve got the sneer, steely-eyed look, and the appropriate quotes down pat (“Do you feel lucky, punk”, etc.). Now all I need is my handgun–if there are any left.
I agree with Sharon…..today’s youth might put some time into “organizing” with their parents’ blessing, but when the dough stops rolling in, and they don’t get a new cell phone or ipod every 6 months, the allure of “service” is going to give way to the almighty dollar’s call. Kids are way too spoiled. Plus, remember the video of the Acorn director in that one city (can’t remember which)?? She was a young thing, probably doing her internship……when she had all those folks complaining about her and yelling that they didn’t get paid…….she came very close to saying some un-PC things about the community she was organizing.
I had the misfortune of going thru the 60’s sober. That was a period of time best spent anesthetized.
yttik – It may be White Rabbit time again.
give those freaks a break UW.
real jobs require drug & criminal background checks they couldn’t pass.
Bah GA GIrl, they will do their service and stay home and sponge off their parents some more.
I’ll tell you this yttk. I had to get clearance at one point in my life and I was GRILLED in an army base for HOURS because I only LIVED IN THE SAME DORM with certain SDS people. I barely even knew them but I did know them. Now imagine if these twits get involved with Ayers and Dohrn ideas what their future will look like. They don’t think ahead. They never had. They are NOW babies. But the piper will knock eventually. Do you not think the that Ayers and his Days of Rage wife are not watched every single day by federal agents?
wac, De Niro in Taxi is a good one too.
ARE YOU LOOKIN AT ME???
very quick movements & a lot loud swearing do just as well as a gun sometimes depending on the intelligence of the the victim.
UW,
Of course, there were stories that appointees to the Clinton cabinet couldn’t pass the FBI interview if they were off the street looking to work in the White House. I’m still trying to figure out why they call Barfy Renegate at the Secret Service.
they’d probably like to call him STUPID p4p but it’s not PC.
UW – When I first joined the Army, I had to fill out something called the Armed Forces Security Questionnaire. It listed two pages of “Organizations of Security Significance”. Needless to say, as someone who was not exactly worldly, I had never heard of most of them. So, I could state without hesitation, that I didn’t know them, didn’t belong to them, etc. I’ll bet if Barky had to get the simplest of clearances and had to play by the rules to get it, he couldn’t–not with his cast of friends and associates. I always wondered if, other than laziness, that’s why he never held any subcommittee hearings–he couldn’t get the clearances to see classified documents.
“Maybe cause I lived those days out as a young lil thing wearing clothes we designed from Indian bedspreads we bought at Pier 1.
pathchouliville redux………
”
VBonnaire @6:02
I never thought I would ever hear ANYONE who remembered Pier 1 as a place that stunk of Indian excelsior, where stuff was broken in barrels, and where we were all looking for the COOLEST Indian Cotton Print to make our next sofa throw or Janice Jpilin Shirt.
Sometimes one WAS the other. It is was a FAR CRY from the Mall Stores we see today – filled with $65.00 Pillows and toilet brushes – and I am sure the place Tommie H and Bernadine buy glassware.
As Margaret Hamilton said when she was in dissolve mode – “Oh! What a world”
FF
Hmmmm…I could be wrong but all I see s potential for heartache and disappointment…sheeesh!
What the hell do these geezers have to protest now? There is no draft (and I’ll bet my left eye not one of them has children serving in the military), they’ve got money in the bank, and they own property. They wouldn’t be caught dead in a Pier One anymore–they’ve gone all Crate&Barrel and WilliamsSonoma. They’ve become the very “Establishment” they spent all their time hating. Wow–what a bunch of rebels. I’m gagging from all the hypocrisy shoved down my throat this last year. What a bunch of candy-asses.
I say they can ALL start activating right now. Give up your university monies and immediately turn them over to a poorer neighbor or a “community organization” Move into substandard housing and get three jobs, tithe ten percent to the poor every month. That’s just for starters…marching around at rallies is not allowed only actions that affect you personally and are not “fun” count in your brave new world.
The sixties do not need to be re lived. They were borne out of pain and caused more grief than they solved. People have fuzzy memories except for the few elite like Ayers who ended up making money off of being a mad man. Others whom he admires are in jail like Manson.
The sixties did not WORK.
I hope Uppity is right above…on the watching…rand has come by a time or two…I think,
yeah remember? we might have been teens and we made clothes from that fabric and burned incense and wore what Joplin wore — for me that was about ‘73 — too young for Woodstock, but?
They were all there…..& are you two ever right on the malls and the Williams Sonoma. I see Ayers as a total sellout. To that era.
But, yuck. They are back again.
ps: ask Uppity to repost that piece? I swear — when I read it I was magically transported like by a Stevie Nicks song to age 13.
I couldn’t remember Mondale — but she wrote about the craze for him just like now. It was the really young college kids — same thing.
In the old Pier 1 — countries besides China made the products.
That was what was cool.
Ughs.
Hugs.
xxoo!
I rememeber Pier 1 very well. And the scent. And various head shops too. lol.
Valentine, do you mean THIS piece?
http://uppitywoman08.wordpress.com/2008/06/20/deja-vu/
yeah that was it!
Mondale what a dope. It was McGovern!
this is it!!!!!!!!
(I miss Pier 1) ——- seriously Uppity I loved this piece!
it’s just like a time capsule of the times…
Uppity! I just realized you were writing about them as far back as then!
You were…
I had seen that Recreate ‘68 thing in the web too — back then.
Geez.
anyway, read this for a real take on what it was like to be so *inspired* in the pre-internet days….
you completely nailed it.
Pier 1 and all.
Oh wait, last thought — strobe lights and black light posters!
now we really have that era down…..
see you tomorrow, Uppity2012.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!
(at the sign of the paw!)
ROFL….Pier 1….jeez we used to frequent the place and walk in the door and usually sneeze from all the spices in the air….you had to have a gas mask to work there! Ahh ahh ahhh ahhhh CHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
“Welcome back my friends/To the show that never ends/We’re so glad you could attend/Come inside, come inside”
To whom do I send a thank you note for putting so many lives in turmoil? With this election ..I can not find one thing to feel proud about. Our votes mean nothing as the corrupt political parties do what they want. I haven’t seen a sign of change yet…nor will I. That is of course…change for the better. The change that was brought to our attention is ayers, wright, and many good things to read about the obama..or whatever their name is this week, family.
Uppity, thanks for linking to the former Deju Vu post. I recall being particularly struck by the mental image of a “five-hosed bong” and rolling out of bed laughing. Ah, those were the glory days when we still thought Hill had a slim chance of an upset, and we were sure no one would vote for O like they didn’t vote for McGovern. Turns out the electorate has been considerably dumbed down in the interim.
Loved the reminiscences by you, Vbonnnaire, Irlandese and FF about the 60s. Not a child of the 60s, but figured they weren’t as cool as billed. I loved the statements about Pier 1. I do recall buying a rattan chair from there in college. It was very Austin Powers.
Hookah, NES. Mulitple hoses would be a Hookah.
I always liked the observation that “the Sixties” were only 1968 and 1969. I know some of you said they “didn’t work.” I sometimes miss the energy and chaos–I will admit it. It was exciting–I was in DC–the demos…etc. But I don’t miss Kent State and a college BF was in Vietbam only 2 weeks before being killed…but it was a high energy time. Not like now–with some mysteriously backed, corporate, secretive Messiah-wannabee hypnotizing people into looking activist.
Yikes! Proof positive of my un-hipness…I don’t even know my bongs from my hookahs.
Wow, what great comments. I took a break from cyberspace yesterday. I was 11 in 1969, so I “missed it” (or so it seemed at that young age). But when I was older I saw it for what it was (or wasn’t). And coming of age in the aftermath was no great shakes.
Typewriterstreaming, on November 11th, 2008 at 4:57 pm Said:
Thank-you. About the Panthers, I think by virtue of BOs win, they are irrelevant. Did you see this from CNN?
http://rss.cnn.com/~r/rss/cnn_topstories/~3/450251548/index.html
Here’s a snip:
“A majority of blacks now believe that a solution to the country’s racial problems will eventually be found,” Holland said. “In every previous poll on this topic dating back to 1993, black respondents had always said that racial problems were a permanent part of the American landscape.”
“Even in polls taken earlier this year, a majority of African-Americans said that a solution to the country’s racial problems would never be found; now blacks and whites agree that racial tensions may end.”
The Wrights, Jacksons, Panthers, Sharptons are irrelevant now. Maybe that’s why Jesse was cryin’ like a baby last Tuesday.
Indy you and I are same group!
I’m working on a novel about coming of age in the period we did.
You know, our group is just INDY at the tail end of the Baby Boom.
It just is,
hugs……………
incense and peppermints to all……….
xxoo!
Someone from Israel told me Zogby is showing Jesse leading the field to replace The One in the Senate.
vbonnaire-yeah, I saw we are designated as “shadow boomers” or Gen Jones. Incense and Peppermints…I loved that song. And, I can’t wait to read your novel-let us know when it’s available.
Star-Jesse Sr is in the mix? Egad. :O
You’re right–I stand corrected. Jesse Jr.
For me the Bakshi-movie “Fritz The Cat” pretty much sums up the whole ’sixties’ (though DeNiro’s “Hi Mom” gives a more unpleasant view into the warped mindset of that time).
Anyhoo:
BObo won’t face an audit – he robbed…er, raked in too much money to be checked.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1108/15497.html
Guess the old criminologists’ addage – “If you want to get away with a crime, make sure it’s a big one” – is still in place. To add insult to injury: McCain WILL be audited, and needs abt. 9million$ to cover the lawyers etc.
Might have missed: Valerie Jarrett -according to some BObo’s left brain – says BObo will be ready to RULE day one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7Nlq80DVpo
Obama Bought The Presidency
No problem Star. Jesse Jr, seems he said or did something outrageous during the primaries but I just can’t remember. I just couldn’t picture Jesse Sr going there.
NetherLands…I saw that article about BO avoiding a campaign audit. Typical.
[...] RBO: “’60s radicals suddenly tumbling out of the woodwork” [...]
LOL Netherlands! I remember Fritz The Cat.
UW being x-examined about dorm mates? This was sooooo funny. Head shops, bongs, hookahs, Pier 1, incense, rattan furniture… Funniest when the rattan chair’s bottom wore out and the guest would promptly slither down in and get stuck. Bean bag never did that.
The small C’ers were losers then as they remain now – fighting for their hypocrtical “ideals” from the comfort of what America has given to these ingrates.
Jesse, Jr. would be a disaster in the Senate. He’s an unvarnished thug, Chicago-cubed. I’m pleasantly surprised B. Hussein is dissing him in favor of a chick (Ok, she’s also a Chitown thug(ess), but still preferable to JJ Jr.). It’s so unlike B. Hussein.
