Selling Influence or Perceived Entitlement: Which is More Shoddy?

Governor Rod Blagojevich apparently has been trying to sell Obama’s Senate vacated seat. Shameful!
Then along comes Caroline Kennedy (Schlossberg) who appears to believe that genealogy is sufficient to take over Hillary’s Senate seat.
This all stinks. I see them in my mind’s eye as little children who both belong somewhere other than in leadership positions.
But which one is the lesser of two wrongs?
I come down on the side of Governor Rod Blagojevich. At least with “pay to play,” more than one person gets a shot at the prize. A tiny sniff of the American way is built in there. With Caroline, it’s all about perceived entitlement as part of a dynasty. Didn’t our forefathers and foremothers risk all to escape that?

Perhaps the name of the Senate should be changed to the “House of Lords” to reflect reality. What with Biden’s son in the wings, the Kennedy situation and the pay for play in Chicago, only the monied elite appear to have a chance.
What a sad year for democracy. Will the U.S. ever be taken seriously again on the international stage vis a vis democracy?
Personally, I believe that Caroline should take her empty nest syndrome, and put it to use at homeless or women’s shelters. Perhaps then she would understand issues outside her bubble of entitlement.
On an aside, if she thinks this attempt at circumventing the voters will advance the “Kennedy Camelot legacy” (a totally ridiculous manufacture of the press, btw), then she is sadly mistaken. These tactics are more representative of her grandfather, the nazi sympathizer, Joe, Sr.
The radio news is all abuzz today that Patterson (NY Gov) is seriously considering Caroline Schlossberg because of her fund raising prowess FOR HIS Campaign Race at the end of his term. Now, this is different than Rod?
Can you tell me how?
Pay to Play is alive and well in New York as well as Chicago.
Now, the House of Lords idea isn’t bad, since the pundits consistently refer to how “Obama will Rule.”
Looks like the monarchy is alive and well and everything old is new again. Didn’t Senators USED to pay for their seats – and the Robber Barons run the Government?

It’s a good thing that JFK is the only assassinated president in modern times with living offspring or there’d be a whole rash of contenders. Just can’t see that she’s worthy simply because she’s the daughter of an iconic dead president. You don’t see her RFK cousins making similar claims just because they’re the offspring of an iconic dead presidential candidate. Or are they? May have missed this one.
Let’s see. I’m the descendant of a whole bunch of famous founding families, which must make me eligible, too, and mine preceded Kennedy fame and fortune created during prohibition by centuries.
On the other hand, anyone who knows Mass. politics knows who buys what — pretty much like the Chicago Way. She’ll fit right in with the PEBO crowd.

Yes, why that grand sense of entitlement takes over all rationale thinking about following traditional channels into politics. Blago plays hardball Chi-way and makes no bones about it. Kennedy wants to crash the party just because of “birthright.”
At least Blago has paid his dues by actually running for office, and then running the office (in quite a questionable way albeit). Kennedy has been keeping a low profile by “working” the private boards scene. Uncle Ted should have inspired the public office route long ago if he wanted more legacies.
America is not a monarchy.

You do all know the story of the Joe Sr.s daughter who was institutionalized. She was retarded and a bit of a problem so Old Joe arranged for a lobotomy. After that, she was institutionalized. Nothing like a loving father.
What a crime!!! No difference between Blago and what is happening in N.Y. We are seeing a great CHANGE…….PAY TO PLAY. Surely there was some whispering in Caroline’s ear while she was selling herself for barfy.
I can think of slews of politicians that would not be politicians except for their daddy or whatever. Of course right of the top we got the Bush Boys. We got George and ‘John’ AKA ‘Jeb’… Then look back and look at the Roosevelt’s, and what about all those relatives of the Rockefeller’s, and we got the Romney’s, and then look at all the people who said that Hillary only got to be Senator ’cause of Bill! Then we got the Adams family, John and John Quincy. This list goes on and on and on… which brings me to the point of …:”Why Caroline Kennedy”? How come there is a lynch mob after her and not after all these other men who are doing it right down to Jesse Jackson Jr. ?
This smells like more of the same… sorry, but it does.
I just think we need a women, we need to not bash this women, and above all, we don’t need a man filing the ‘Hill’s” seat….
Wow, it’s Christmas time… let’s be a little nice maybe? Maybe? …. If Caroline is picked, it’s better than any guy… we just need a lot more women running stuff, and for heaven’s sake, we should not be attacking other women. Can’t we attack a guy maybe? Maybe?

Sorry Lynnzy—this woman, Caroline Kennedy, thinks she can buy her way in with her name and the fact she and her Uncle Teddy STABBED HILLARY IN THE BACK DURING THE PRIMARIES. There are at least two woman legislators in New York who are far more qualified for the position than a “Name” that wants to cash in her chips after betting big time on the craps table. This woman is a misogyny enabler–amongst other things–and you will have to look further afield to find any support for that “any woman will do” mentality.
