It seems that the Obama camp doesn’t think Bill Richardson was very forthcoming with them.
Sources tell ABC News that officials on the Obama Transition Team feel that before he was formally offered the job of commerce secretary, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson was not forthcoming with them about the federal investigation that is looking into whether the governor steered a state contract towards a major financial contributor.
Once the investigation became more widely known through national media reports last month, sources tell ABC News, the Obama Transition Team realized the FBI would not be able to give Richardson a clean political bill of health before the new administration is ready to send his nomination up to the Senate for confirmation.
But the Richardson camp disagrees.
The Richardson camp says the governor was forthcoming, with sources close to the governor noting that there had been reports about the controversy in local media such as the Albuquerque Journal as far back as August 2008. The governor discussed the investigation with the Obama team, they say, and believes that he and his administration have done nothing wrong.
It certainly looks like we have a difference in perception here, regarding how this all came down between Richardson and Obama. How odd. Not.
Don’t all these politicians just make you sick? You can’t shake the truth out of most of them when it comes to covering their own butts. Richardson will be holding a press conference in about an hour.
Don’t ask me which side is telling the truth. I don’t trust any of them.

Well of course Obama would try to blame it all on Richardson. What else would he do, admit his 12 page application and his elite vetting squad didn’t work out so well?
And Richardson will blame it on Obama. Seriously, I don’t trust him either. Look what he did to Hillary. The guy just held a press conference and the bottom line is the bottom fell out of all his plans for his own power. He endorsed for a post and now he’s got nothing.
Oh please replace him with Caroline Barack. NY needs a senator who knows what’s going on.

This grand jury investigation was made public in August from what I have read. AUGUST. This morning Andrea Mitchell said that the FBI would not clear Richardson until this was settled. None of this should have been news to the Obama team so they should never have appointed him. Even if Richardson had proven to them that he is innocent how could anyone foolishly think that the investigation would end in a couple of weeks after the appointment. These things often drag on for months or years.
Yet the media is not making a big deal about this. If Hillary or Bill or Gore did anything like this the talk would be about how incompetent the team is.

Speaking of Biden, why is he holding onto his senate seat for the next couple of weeks? I can see Hillary doing it since she needs to be confirmed as SoS, but Biden?

Ah, is this the son in the military and/or AG of Delaware? Chicago isn’t the only place where politics is incestuous (and it’s SOP there at all levels as far as I saw). If we put our vaunted government servants under a microscope we’d be hard-pressed to find any that didn’t use their influence for family and friends, imo.

Hunter Biden, 38, has been a lobbyist since 2001.
One of the top firms he has represented is the same
as “credit card Joe’s=credit card giant MBNA.
In August on the eve of the DNConvention, the Washington Post reported that Hunter Biden — along with Joe Biden’s brother, James — is being accused in one lawsuit of defrauding a former business partner, and in a separate lawsuit of defrauding an investor in a hedge fund deal.
The facts of the cases remain unclear, but the plaintiff in one of the suits, Anthony Lotito Jr., alleges that he entered into a deal with Hunter and James to create a hedge-fund group, Paradigm Companies LLC, before the Bidens crafted another deal to create a “secret company” designed to buy out Lotito’s shares.
The suit also claims that Hunter entered into the original deal as a way to get out of the lobbying business, thanks to concerns about the impact
of his lobbying activities on his father’s expected presidential run.
The Bidens allege in response that Lotito defrauded them, according to the Post, by “misrepresenting his experience in the hedge fund industry and recommending that they hire a lawyer with felony convictions.”
The same day, the New York Times had its own angle on Hunter’s lobbying activities. It reported that, while Sen. Biden, a longtime ally of the credit-card industry, was working in support of the 2005 bankruptcy bill, which made it harder for consumers to file for bankruptcy, Hunter had a consulting agreement — which may have been worth $100,000 a year — with financial-services giant MBNA, one of the bill’s biggest backers.
The Times adds this interesting detail:
“Campaign officials acknowledged that the connection between the Bidens and MBNA, the enormous financial services company then based in their home state of Delaware, was one of the most sensitive issues they examined while vetting the senator for a spot on the ticket.”
August 27, the Post uncovers a link between Hunter Biden and Obama himself, reporting that the Illinois senator “sought more than $3.4 million in congressional earmarks for clients of the lobbyist son of his Democratic running mate, Sen. Joe. Biden Jr. of Delaware, records show.”
The Obama campaign said that Hunter Biden never met directly with Obama, and noted: “It’s hardly surprising that a Senator from Illinois would fight for investments in Mercy Hospital, Thorek Hospital and St. Xavier University right in Illinois, or that he’d be joined in that effort by a Republican colleague, Representative Judy Biggert.”
