Our banks are tanking.

We are at war in the Middle East.

Iran is burning posters of our new President. Meet the new Iran. Same as the old Iran.

Unemployment is going up, not down.

We have dumped trillions of dollars into Wall Street only to wake up an find our investment is lost.

The DOW tanked yesterday and millions of people lost more of their savings. These are people who sacrificed the Gotta Have It  Now attitude for a little of their own financial security. They didn’t buy things they couldn’t afford and they paid their bills responsibly. They didn’t borrow that which they could not pay back.

We installed a President who has preached Hope and Change for nearly two years. While we recognize the history associated with the color of his skin, we did not see his job as completed with that achievement.  We saw it as just a beginning, where a lot more history must be made, and we had better get it right. He is, after all, the President of  a country in deep distress that has nothing to do with race.

We saw Hope and Change as meaning that our President will address the horrendous domestic and foreign affairs problems  which are resting heavily on the shoulders of all the people of the United States of America.

Yesterday, more than ever in my not so short life, America needed a comforting  Benediction in the worst of ways –and instead this is what we got:

Was this really necessary?

Rev. Joseph Lowery benediction prayer rap?
“We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right,” Lowery said.
