Your open thread today whilst poor Barack Obama gets some rest.

Ok……. well the UK is a bit miffed that the Obamas treated Gordon Brown like a street vendor who was just passing by.

Mr. Brown arrived bearing gifts such as a pen holder made from the wood of a warship that helped stamp out the slave trade. According the the UK’s Telegraph, this ship was the a sister ship of the same vessel from which timbers were taken to build Mr Obama’s Oval Office desk. Overall, it’s fairly easy to assume a lot of thought went into that gift.

Well, it seems that the Obamas left gift selection for the Browns to one of those crass, fresh-out-of -college childlike White House employees who are so attracted and dedicated to him.  So  I envision that the little twit ran down to the White House gift shop and picked out something really cool that he would want himself. This means that the Obamas gave the Prime Minister of England a boxed set of 25 Hollywood movie DVDs, which I am told included ET, The Godfather and Starwars. They tossed in two model Marine 1 helicopters for good measure. Gratefully, no whoopie cushion was included.

Apparently the complaints from the UK were rampant. Gee, I wonder why? One editorial I read from the UK referred to President Obama as a child.

The White House probably figured out by now that classless gifts like DVD boxed sets are not very smart choices for visiting dignitaries, although such a gift would probably work really well for Barack’s  classy speechwriter if you throw in a 12-pack, a trophy for showing up and a blowup doll.

Gosh, I hope I haven’t given them any gift ideas for the next visiting dignitary…..

In any event, the UK press on this issue has been horrific. UK’s Telegraph was more than happy to yak about all of this so that everyone in the UK could become even more inflamed.

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been “overwhelmed” by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama’s inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

And that was actually one of the nicer quotes from the article. You can see the rest here: .”Barack Obama too “tired” to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown“. Brown really needs to get over himself. I mean, it’s not like he’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or anything.

So let’s face it:  He hasn’t been in office for two months and he looks like he did during the primaries when Hillary ran him so ragged he had to go on vacation.

So today,  Freedom Fairy honors Barack Obama’s tiredness while he takes a rest.

Whew! This Presidential stuff is  hard work!42-17069469

  1. Too tired, my ass. They’re just a pair of no-class fucks.
    1. If he’s too tired to do his job, maybe he should give up partying every night.
    2. Mr. and Mrs. 0 have disgraced the United States of America before the entire world. And this is just the beginning. But of course will be a different story when the Arabs come to town.
    3. The 0 White House, or, as it’s racist occupants prefer to call it since they can’t stand the word “white,” the people’s house, is Birth of a Nation made real.
    4. Boxed DVD’s and plastic toys– if the Brits won’t spit on the 0′s, I will.

  2. Do you think that Michelle and Obambi stopped by Walgreens before they hopped on Air Force One to head over to the UK to pick up those lovely gifts for the Prime Minister Brown?? Why didn’t he pick up a “Sham-Wow” and a “Slap Chop” too.

    How pathetic is Obambi!!

  3. Heres another mindblowing quote from the Telegraph article Uppity links to:

“A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama’s inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to “even fake an interest in foreign policy”.”

Its a good thing HIllary’s interested in it. By the way, Sarainitaly also had a great post about the Brown brouhaha earlier over at NQ.

Funny post Uppity–love the funny visual by FF.

  4. Socalannie writes: ““A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama’s inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to “even fake an interest in foreign policy”.”

Well, that might be a relief. The Radio News this morning was reporting that he is VERY interested in “working with” the “less radical” arms of the Taliban.

Would those be, well….the ones who only beat and shoot women, as opposed to the ones who behead foreigners?
Apparently he also was harping on “our friends” in “Pok-ee-sthan”

I betcha HRC quits before his first (and I hope only) term.

  5. We went from one president who didn’t give a shit about domestic policies, like his daddy before him—to another president who doesn’t give a shit about foreign policy. Apparently we can only fix one thing at t time in the white house, while we break the other.

  6. I don’t think presidents pick out gifts. I say they delegated the creativity to a staffer. That’s their job. Of course, when you have 22 year olds who are out of touch with adults by virtue of the fact that the only thing they know about adults is that their parents are cash cows, you get a box of CDs picked out hastily. I’ve seen it plenty of times. They expect big things but they do’t think they need to put any time iinto it themselves.

  7. They probably didn’t even know what was in the box. LOL. Nice shock.

  8. So, I know people in this forum don’t like President Bush, but I have to say something. He was gracious and prepared for all his world leaders and he didn’t get “overwhealmed” after 9/11 which was the real biggest crisis in this century.

This ass is just a ridiculous joke.

  9. Was it really DVDs? Because what’s even sadder is that Britain is region 2 and the US is region 1. US DVDs won’t even play on a UK DVD player.

  10. Oh I absolutely agree P4. He treated guests with more than proper protocol. Unfortunately he completely ignored domestic policy.

The yahoos in the white house are young inexperienced and impatient children, too lazy to bother with protocol. His staff is playing to children. Unfortunately, children are embarrassing. The Obamas need to put some adults in charge of protocol. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. We saw during his campagin how ignorant and arrogant some of his representatives were. Remember that sweating swine Burton? That twit was a glib little fool with a snear to boot. Glad he didn’t have a place at the white house. A true child. And Gibbs wasn’t much better. Now that Gibbs has to answer some real questions and watch out for his lies, he’s perpetually saying ahhhhhhhhhh, uhhhhhhhh. Obama surrounded himself with armpit farters. I’m sorry but it’s true.

  11. And I’d love to know who the yahoo at the state department is who translated “RESET” to Russian and came up with “OVERCHARGED”. If that person isn’t fired, then these people are ALL brain dead. We are being embarrassed left and right by children with no wisdom or life experiences.

  12. …and on every day, he rested.

  13. Happy International Women’s Day!

“So let’s face it: He hasn’t been in office for two months and he looks like he did during the primaries when Hillary ran him so ragged he had to go on vacation.

So today, Freedom Fairy honors Barack Obama’s tiredness while he takes a rest.”

My initial complaint when taking a closer look at Obama during the primaries was that he lacked substance. I was not getting a sense of what he stood for or advocated. No substance. Flash in pan. All about him.

Maybe I need to look elsewhere for a while. He is the “same ol’ ” every time.

  14. Alas, I read that the DVD set was prepared specifically at the request of the White House by the American Film Institute. That removes the possibility that it was a last minute mad dash (“Oh, shit! He brought Barack a present! What the hell do we have that we can wrap fast?”) that we could at least explain away as inexperience. (Where have I heard that word before?)

What these brainless clods don’t seem to grasp is that any gift to PM Brown is a gift to the British people. The Brits honored the US with a meaningful gift commemorating the “progress” we have made against the slavery of the past. Ironically, it is believed that The Manchurian Candidate was one if the 25 films included in the box set.

  15. …and on every day, he rested.

    ROFL!

That’s just it. Historically, Barack runs for office and then starts running for his next office after he’s elected. He’s not accustomed to carrying out the job till the end. He was in the Senate a year and running for president the rest of the time. He’s accustomed to looking for his next job once he secures his last job. Now there’s nowhere to go. He’s got to do four years of this and I don’t imagine being president allows for a lot of down moments, really. It’s a hundred things at once and fifty of them are serious. remember he said he’s not very organized? Well that’s the key. No organization, and you are pooped. He’s also not accustomed to making major decisions that impact the world. And there’s no “next job” to work on. Unless he plans on being Pope. Being elected president is one thing. I don’t think being president is something very many people can do well. And you had best have a LOT of energy and be able to think on your feet.

  16. P4P,

Let’s face it, when Bush was in office and Tony Blair visited, the PM would have been thrilled with anything his master handed him. But I do agree that President Bush was never crass when it came to gifts (although I do seem to remember the occasional protocol breech and “Bushism” being bandied about).

  17. Somebody needs to let that guy smoke. No kidding. You know smokers. Without that cig they get very confused, edgy and preoccupied. It’s not good for the health of America to be badgering him about his habit.

  18. Uppity,

Barack’s next job? Head of the North American Union. Next, he’ll run for head of the Global Union. After that, he’s stuck with running for President of the Solar System.

  19. GG, I stopped worrying about that because, while they might have dreams, this country will never go down quietly. The miitary is sworn to uphold the constitution and therefore they will stand down. I’m not kidding here. These people are about freedom. They are willing to die for it. And this country is armed to the teeth. They might want to pass laws to remove all guns but they aren’t going to do it easily. WHen America’s freedom is REALLY under threat, you will see exactly the stuff this country is made of. There will be a civil war if necessary. As there was once before for good reason. Once people understand freedom they do not give it up easily.

Even FDR, who was a very competant man, was unable to turn America into a socialist being, much as he tried. And Obama is no FDR. FDR did manage to sneak some helpful things in there though. Like social security. I am hoping that, while turning American in the United Socialist States of America will ultimately fail, some good things will come of it. Such as health care reform–hopefully the right way.

  20. Oh and one more thing. As for the humongous debt Obama is building up, all his worshippers will be paying for it for the rest of their socialism-dreaming lives. They just became their own worst enemies. I think that they will wake up in ten years and scream WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!!!? I find that Karma rather fun, to be honest.

  21. Re: Bush’s poodle, Tony Blair. Blair has himself a huge job on wall street, you know.

Bush knew he could get UK to go over to Iraq and die. That was worth a bit more than a model helicopter. When you shun your friends, nobody circles your wagons when you need them to. This was a horrible mistake that will resonate through Europe for a long time to come.

  22. Uppity,

I agree that we won’t go quietly, but what few people understand is that the last civil war was not about uniting a splitting nation, but about Lincoln invading a sovereign country. The Confederate States had formally seceded from the Union, and Lincoln literally invaded another nation. Sure, it worked out well for us, but in reality it was not so much about freeing the slaves as forcing a group of people to accept the views of another group. Really not that different than what’s going on now, although I doubt the outcome of the next civil war will be the same.

As far as health care reform, I do not believe that Obama or anyone in his administration is on the right page with that one. Any changes he signs on the dotted line for will be strictly to benefit Big Pharma, Big Insurance, and the medical industry. Don’t forget he managed to slide the clause about his oversight committee into the “Stimulus” bill so that your doctor will soon not be able to give you treatment that Big Brother hasn’t approved. How much do you want to bet that Tom Daschle gets appointed to head that committee?

Sorry to be a downer, but I haven’t seen any bright side from the Obama camp yet. I am, however, encouraged by the strength of resolve that the PUMA movement has developed, along with many other Centrists, and the sovereignty laws being passed by many individual states. My greatest hope is that enough Americans are waking up to stop the travesty calling itself our government before it is too late.

  23. This was a horrible mistake that will resonate through Europe for a long time to come.

So very true. So very sad.

  24. GG, it won’t come to something as heady as civil war. We are already seeing Democratic congress people pushing back because their districts are infuriated. In the end, they all care about reelection. Many of the elected people in congress represent moderate districts taht will not stand for seeing them go along with removing democracy from America. It just won’t happen. They aren’t that stupid. As you know, they did NOT have the votes in the house to pass the budget and had to put a stopgap thing in place. This is the beginning. Very late, but the begging nonetheless. Being a Democrat is one thing. Being a left cliffer is quite another. This is why you are seeing them not have enough votes amongst their own right now. The districts are going wild over this. Remember, most of these congress people cannot win in centrist districts without independents and moderate democrats. They are not innoculated just because Obama won the election. In the meantime, they know that the Republicans are circling them in the water so they are pushing back with some practicality–proving that sometimes the people DO have some power.

I think health care reform will result in private insurers lowering their premiums to compete. Once everyone can cross state lines to get insurance, their hold on some states will be over and they will have to get with it. Right now, it’s a stockholder game for them and any reform that offers an affordable option endangers their greedy little butts. I already see Excellus, blue cross offering options for people who have no insurance and are making low middle class wages, and they aren’t including people’s homes and savings as a blocker. So I think some good will come and yes, insurers will remain intact, but their prices will go down. And that’s a good thing. Right now the states are held hostage by this lobby.

  25. LOL I love the graphic hahahahahaha
It is not easy being PresBO.

I enjoyed the comments here too. well, sad-funny as is everything these days of late.

Yesterday I went to a birthday party for my sister’s 11 year old (in Maryland) we some how got talking about the economy/BHO. Everyone voted for BHO except one person I am certain did not and myself. Okay the kids were running all over the yard like wild animals, it was 68 here yesterday, amazing. The BHO voters know that he is “going to fix it” and that is why the voted for him. when asked about the Trillions and Billions… they are clueless, they just know that it is “going to take a long time for BO to ‘fix it’” No heavy debating going on but I was ready to pull all of my hair out

  26. Happy International Women’s Day!

I wonder what they do in the Middle East on this day? Only kill half as many women?

When we assign a Day to something, we know it is something simply awful the other 364 days.

  27. During the primaries when Hillary aired the famous, “3am call” commercial, I assumed she was referring to his lack of experience handling a crisis. Maybe she literally meant he couldn’t handle late night work! (Obama needs to go ni-ni and get his westipoo) What a wimp! It’s really too bad someone didn’t steer Obama into an acting career instead of politics. Then he could have “played” a president, king or even the first AA Pope without actually having to do the job.

  28. imust,

ROFL! That’s exactly what he’s doing now!

  29. Great graphics, FF! That face!! LMAO yet again.

Another fantastic post; comments here today spot-on.

  30. “it is something simply awful the other 364 days”

Sorta like the Fourth of July?

  31. All this makes you appreciate the Clintons even more!

Community organizing isn’t what it used to be!

  32. I am so glad to hear that others believe our military will defend our Constitution if push comes to shove.

The dissing of our British friends/ cousins/ fellow freedom fighter, as well as chalking up the efforts in Afghanistan will hopefully provide a dip stick to measure our military’s take on this circus barker in the coming days. This is incredible.

Hillary is boggling my mind. I am so confused.

Hope the Taliban tells him to “go fly a kite”. Could be messy since they’re prohibited. No ipods, either, louse…

    Fist bumps all around!

  33. Papoose…”Fist bumps all around!” I almost forgot about that classy Obama moment.

  34. We should have elected a woman. They’ve been forced over the years to develop endurance and stamina. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen, Obambi.

  35. Uppity -

Where is your write up on the reset button snafu? I think the Hill girl can take some ribbing. She has a good sense of humor… I must admit that when she said “We worked hard to get the right Russian word. Do you think we got it?”, I laughed out loud. I mean, seriously, her staff really let her down on this one. I can only assume it’s someone BO vetted for her….

  36. Thank you, Uppity, and Freedom Fairy! Happy International Women’s Day, too!

Thank God, we have Hillary, at least, as SOS, paying attention.

    Q. Did you happen to see this one, too? (found over at the Confluence last night also from – U. K.’s Daily Telegraph quoted):

“…The real views of many in Obama administration were laid bare by a State Department official involved in planning the Brown visit, who reacted with fury when questioned by The Sunday Telegraph about why the event was so low-key.

The official dismissed any notion of the special relationship, saying:

“There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.”

The apparent lack of attention to detail by the Obama administration is indicative of what many believe to be Mr Obama’s determination to do too much too quickly….”

    Q. Quote from a State Dept. official just appointed by Obama?

  37. Haha, imust! “I’m not really a president, but I play one on TV!!!” LOLOL

  38. Yes that’s in the article, Liberty. But I didn’t touch it because the Telegraph is not exactly the best source for information. They are more of a rag sheet and when they don’t give me sources, I kind of treat it with a grain. Not that I wouldn’t put it past some of these people. I mean when I saw that the RESET word was mistranslated, I knew then and there we have sine completely inept people on staff. Some child looked up the word and took the first source as gospel. Why work too hard when you think you are entitled to a trophy just for showing up.

  39. “I wonder what they do in the Middle East on this day? Only kill half as many women?”

Saw on Fox this am, Obama to start talks with more moderate arms of the Taliban.

So these more moderate arms, they close the girls’ schools, but let them live (not heard or seen)? They cover them, but don’t throw acid? They “correct” but not disfigure? They only kill you if you deserve it? OMG.

  40. UW, if you keep going back to what Bush and Blair did, I’m going to have to start defending them. And I don’t even want to do that now.

I was thinking of another Bush Admin punching bag. Remeber how the media went crazy over Rumsfeld’s “Old Europe” comment and how ‘offensive’ it was? How offensive is it that someone in the White House speaking on behalf of the president says that Britain is like the other 190 countries in the UN?

A real gift would have been giving Brown the birth certificate from Kenya that proves Obama is a citizen of the British Empire followed by his resignation. Talk about strengthening relations

  41. First of all–there is supposed to be a Protocol person, usually an older woman in pearls, who researches all these gifts and the way things are handled. There should have been a press conference. The One should not have made it WIDELY known he didn’t even watch Brown’s address to our Congress (another slap). Bush didn’t give many state dinners and this probably didn’t warrant one, but the rest was disgraceful. Remember how were were supposed to be so proud of our president again?

Junior also said he wasn’t losing sleep over the economy (he leaves that to us, I guess). So why is he so tired? Indigestion from the super beef and lobster?

  42. don’t forget that Blago, et al have yet to sing. Hopefully they’ll sing like canaries & this clown will be forced to resign. Then we’ll be stuck with Credit Card Joe. In the middle of an economic crisis. To be honest, I’m not sure what to think- other than getting rid of Obozo is a good thing. But as for Joe- I dunno. Any thoughts on that. anybody…..

  43. As for health, once he tired of being schoolteacher and calling on people in those stupid meetings, he is going to turn it over to Congress to write.

  44. Well, Star. When someone abused that many drugs and smoked that much, they have a lot less stamina and lung capacity. I could be full of crap, but since no one has ever seen any medical records, i can pretty much speculate in any way I choose.

  45. Ah, the medical records. His doctor said he’d be a neat chief exec, what more do you want? LOL. I don’t care if he smokes–I draw the line at meth. And I am positive I will get the memo…

  46. Uppity, Thanks for letting me know about the Telegraph and its sources. Henceforth, will treat unattributed quotes from them with a grain of salt (same could be said about many MSM sources these days).

On the other hand, if a veritable child at the State Dept. is allowed to come up with, and take credit for the “reset” button (sans a Russian syllable), then isn’t possible they also have a dufus dumb enough to say that about the U.S. – Britain relationship? Could it be the same young/dumb Obama appointee?

I hope, for her sake (and ours) that Hillary would have not appointed them at State.

  47. Dang P4, if you keep bring up these people, you can’t expect me to let it go by. You know I don’t like either party so I have no problem not cutting any jerks some slack. You won’t see me defending Rumsfeld. His aspartame trick and his presence on the board of the swiss company that sold two nuclear reactors to N. Korea is enough to tell me what he is. No, he was not a good deal for America. That doesn’t go away just because we have replaced one example o f idiocy with another. In short, we had a horrendous president when it came to domestic policy. Now we have a horrendous president when it comes to foreign policy. It would be nice to have a president who could walk and chew gum at the same time and focus on both, like he or she is SUPPOSED to do.

  48. then isn’t possible they also have a dufus dumb enough to say that about the U.S. – Britain relationship? Could it be the same young/dumb Obama appointee?

Ah Liberty. Would that we could be sure we had only one dufus running around the white house.

  49. Obama’s falling numbers:

    Approval Ratings:
    83% when elected.
    57% about two weeks ago.
    38% this week.

    http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

And how long has he been in office? If we could only hold the election over now that people are waking up to reality.

  50. Sounds like these staffers are only able to organize a piss up in a brewery and that is what there making the Whitehouse look like the local Pub~~

  51. The whole “reset” button was a goofy idea to begin with…I can’t believe Hillary went along with it! It is the same league as the “faux presidental seal”, the “greek columns” and the “office of the president-select.” This.is.really.embarrassing.

  52. I expect the surround sound is good there…so Obama can here his voice regardless where he is in the house I expect he poses in front of the mirror chin in air listening to JUST WORDS!

  53. The reason his approval ratings are diving is, every week more people are effected by what’s going on. Young folks who are hanging out at home don’t feel squat, which is why 56percent still at least “somewhat” approve of him. That will change when mom and dad stop paying for the car lease and insurance, the cell phones etc. and start asking for monthly rent.

  54. or they all have to move pronto to tent city…

  55. Eh Rush. I just hate the guy. But I will always defend his right to be on the air without intervention from the Comrades.

Whoopie, though, was a STRONG Hillary person originally.

  56. UW,

The UN says its okay to sell nuclear reactors to N. Korea, so the whole system is broken. When I think about the kind of man Rumsfeld is, I think about him going back into the Pentagon on 9/11 to help rescue people from the building.

Besides, I was mostly referring to the shitstorm over Rumsfeld’s remark vs. zero outrage for 0′s WH staff.

  57. I hope Whoopi Goldberg pays a whole lot more tax they all deserve it on the Today show what a farse they were during the primaries and the GE…

Hell they should be paying us to watch.

  58. Uppity, thank you for pointing out:

“Ah Liberty. Would that we could be sure we had only one dufus running around the white house….”

ROFLOut Loud, with imagery of a bunch of dufus Obamabots bouncing around (and partying on a Wednesday night at the WH).

    Scary image, actually…
    Catch you later!
(Must go out to do some yard work while it’s warm…)

  59. LOL imust. that button looked like some clown prop. I was extremely embarrassed to even see it……..BEORE it was misinterpreted.

P4, I have just as much if not more outrage right now. So that’s not true. What do you expect from college children and high school kids with no manners or world experience? They probably think this is all just fun and games.

I would love to know who came up with that Bozo the Clown Reset button. Now we are into gag gifts. What’s next? Hand buzzers?

  60. The most sane person in politics is a 13 year old!!!! I kid you not:

    http://www.defineconservatism.com/

I’ve heard this kid on two radio interviews. He is very articulate and speaks without a teleprompter!!!!

    Check out http://www.defineconservatism.com/index.php/eventsschedule

where you can listen to some of these interviews. The kid is amazing.

  61. “Eh Rush. I just hate the guy. But I will always defend his right to be on the air without intervention from the Comrades.”

I have never been a fan of his but since Obama and gang have become so hell bent on having a war with him, I like to check up on what’s going on :-) It baffles me that they have time to develop an anti-Rush strategy but no time to offer the British PM dinner :-)

  62. Sorry, Uppity. I meant MSM outrage. I’m sure we all have a heaping helping of outrage here.

  63. LOL offer the British PM dinner :) did they live through a Wednesday nite party? or were they sent off to their hotel not to be seen?
With a video player in hand??

  64. NY Times writes about our 13 year old:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/08/fashion/08conserve.html

  65. I remember too, imust…the polls were still open in Montana and South Dakota when the we were treated to the ghetto gesture…the AP was out all day lying that Hillary withdrew — the nomination declared based on unknown superdelegates…that was the beginning of the end. 3 days after the bogus RBC stole Hillary’s votes and 2 days before the secret meeting at Dianne F.s DC home…the stench lingers still.

  66. cats, more than 2 links in a comment gets sent into moderation. Post 2 then post the 3rd in another comment.

  67. Thanks deadenders – I should just log in :-)

  68. Behind the Curtain at G.E.

Don’t you know that Olbermann is scared to death that Rupert Murdoch is greedily eyeing NBC and it’s sister networks, CNBC and MSNBC?

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/07/business/07nocera.html?_r=1&ref=business

  69. I heard Murdoch’s new trophy wife is softening him to liberals, though.

  70. I still think they have something on Hillary and are forcing her to do what they want. I thought that button gimmick was so not her. Someone made her do it. (now I am completely off the cliff…..everything I read or see, I immediately think conspiracy!)

  71. Laughing till tears, yet again!

“…The White House probably figured out by now that classless gifts like DVD boxed sets are not very smart choices for visiting dignitaries, although such a gift would probably work really well for Barack’s classy speechwriter if you throw in a 12-pack, a trophy for showing up and a blowup doll…”

I think my cat Ace should be in charge — he’s a lot smarter — in many ways. If we can’t have Uppity.

cherry tomatoes, lemon cucumbers, 3 types of zucchini, yellow crookneck squash and two artichoke starts — plus, long skinny asian cucumbers and regular ones…

    !

now for the weeding — but, you know those days when the soil is so rich with earthworms and it has rained a lot?
it’s like that right now — cold and misty sky and scudding clouds and that damp earth that a gardener goes crazy for!

Uppity, your voice was just what I needed to hear this morn!

    Truly.

Ps: Ace is pure black — with that same personality and the portly middle ageness some cats get — maybe I can catch a pic of him at some point.

Your post on that greenhouse inspired me to garden again this year, I swear.

  72. Yup, him got hisself some reeal smart college twits in there to do his writin’ and shoppin’. (they picked out some helicopters for themselves, but shooosh, don’t tell anyone) Whist his tired self with wife Meeshell lounge about there on that sofa whimperin’ about those silly things called responsibilities.

Let the hired help take care of the work instead. Walgreens indeed a slick choice for dignitary shoppin’. Too much work for The One. He got hisself in over his head. As yttik said, if ya can’t stand the heat in the kitchen, git out. Let Hillary mind the store, it’s a piece of cake. ‘Cuz ol’ Joe D’oh can’t help much. Fist bumps to all.

  73. UW let the fun begin.
    Minnesota Sharia Loan Program
For many Minnesota Muslims, it’s been virtually impossible to buy a home, because Islamic law forbids the paying or charging of interest. To help close the home ownership gap among Muslim immigrants, the state’s housing agency has launched a new program offering Islamic mortgages. …

  74. Minnesota Sharia Loan Program????

NO WAY!!! So the government is gonna buy the whole house w/interest and sell it back as if it didn’t have interest??? Trying to “trick” God? Or Allah?? WTH? This can’t be legal anyway, in God’s laws or ours.

  75. The UN says its okay to sell nuclear reactors to N. Korea, so the whole system is broken.

We both know how terrific the UN is, P4.

And even if that made it ok, it didn’t make it ok to do it and then become Secretary of Defense in the USA. He wouldn’t have gotten an entry level job in the defense industry if he were a regular human like you and me.

Resume: BOD of company that sold nuclear reactors to N. Korea. FAILED applicant.

  76. obama is 47 years old.

    his father died at 46.

    his mother died at 52.

    no wonder he’s tired.

  77. I thought I was getting a foreclosure rescue corgi dog with a few med problems yesterday–saggy face, head tilt…but they gave her to someone else…Wah…

  78. That’s the beauty of it imust. To FOOL GOD. How do they expect to get their bevy of virgins when the try to pull the wool over her eyes?
No wonder Al Franken (Jack Handy) is doing as well as he is in MN.

  79. Check out this article on Geithner.

If Obama is soo tired from working on the economy why is this guy feeling so alone.

Obam knew he was going to be president after the first caucus, don’t you think he should have had his entire administration picked out and ready to go on day one.

  80. Glenn Beck (ack–don’t hit) has a little cartoon called the Geithner fairy that sometimes dances along the screen throwing money. Look–I need laffs big time, people!

  81. happy international womans day,

  82. Yes Happy International Womans Day!
My niece Kaitlynn is singing tonight at Carnegie Hall.

  83. OK don’t get mad at me, but that kid annoys the crap out of me. 13 year olds don’t know jack shit. When I see a kid doing this, I think PRECOCIOUS LITTLE SNOT. I can’t help it. He should be kicking around a socker ball instead of pretending to be an adult with any knowledge of much of anything other than what he mimics. The kid’s a sponge. I mean, how much do you actually KNOW by yourself when you’re 13.

  84. Uppity!! You are awesome. But I have just one problem with ya!! Your people are TOOOOOO
NICE!!! It’s not even a problem really!! Just that I get slammed, but not that often, for being a fella with a sincere and DEFINED belief in my country. At least I can tell you are not a follower of the liberal cause “to put a faucet on a rock”. I just write for the hell of it and without purpose but lately “the truth hurts” and so now with the OB Method ruining things I’m gonna run with it. Take Care!! You and Yours Rock!!!!

  85. I agree about the kid UW. Kids should not be given that kind of forum to “lecture” to adults about anything. I don’t care how “smart” he is he’s not an adult and doesn’t belong in the adult world.

  86. After I left my very angry comments about how Mr. and Mrs. 0 have disgraced us before the whole world, I gave the matter of the snub to the Browns a lot more thought. I left this

  87. After I left my very angry comments, above, in the wee hours, about how Mr. and Mrs. 0 have disgraced us before the whole world, I gave the matter of the snub to the Browns a lot more thought. My conclusion, also posted a deadenders, reads as follows:

I thought about the Gordon Brown episode overnight. I conclude it was not accidental nor due to inexperience.

In addition to the shameful “gifts,” meant to belittle the recipient, there was no state dinner to honor Brown, and the British PM was not asked to address Congress–or anyone else that I know of, for that matter.

Th snub was intentional and will be repeated with our other European allies in order to further the Muslim agenda of destroying Western civilization. Mr. and Mrs. 0 intend to isolate America in the world from its traditional allies.

As for Mrs. 0 returning the bust of Churchill, I think that was done on behalf of Farrakhan and her other Muslim brethren because Churchill was a Zionist.

  88. I started listening to Rush Limbaugh as a teenager. That and Orwell helped to shape my political opinions. But those home school kids are kind of weird. They’re usually pretty self directed. One unfortunate case was the girl who learned to fly before she was 10, then died in a plane crash with her instructor.

I think kids in the US do have much too high self esteem for their ability. William Bennet (the kid’s collegue) used to talk about this survey where American kids were below 10th place in international testing but were #1 in terms of their opnion of their intelligence.

I agree with Uppity, though. i didn’t know jack shit at 13.

  89. That kid irked the shit outta me too!!!

What’s the Tired One watching anyway?

Hannity doesn’t come on til 9 pm DST.

  90. That kid has the same last name as my first boss,
Kenneth Krohn, one of the inventors of the algebraic theory of machines. He had a think tank on 23rd Street in DC. We worked on govt proposals to NASA etc. One day he came downstairs (it was a townhouse–he lived above) and said he was moving to Paris and we were out of a job. 1966. Ah, good times..

Still, I dislike the kid on his own merits. Smartypants vs smart–the old dicotomy.

  91. Uppity great catch. There are MNAY articles today. The one that made my blood boil the most for bas taste was the fact that Gordon Brown is going blind:

Gordon Brown’s eyesight is causing concern among aides

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/labour/3178318/Gordon-Browns-eyesight-is-causing-concern-among-aides.html

Gawd this is more than bad manners – it is a disgrace – even my 12 year old granddaughter has more finesse than the Gutter Trash occupying our WH.

Wonder how O’s Afghanistan war will go if he ticks off our European allies to the point they withdraw their troops??

” the Gutter Trash occupying our WH.”

Thank you, Nellie, for giving us the definitive description of this garbage squatting in the White House.

“Wonder how O’s Afghanistan war will go if he ticks off our European allies to the point they withdraw their troops??”

That’s the point. He means to isolate America to facilitate handing the world over to his coreligionists and brothers and savagery, the Muslims.

  93. Ok I just saw the Kid on Huckabee. His mouth was going like a whipperwill’s ass. I think it’s horrific that this kid is being pimped, not only by politicians but by his parents. He will end up some kind of basket case just as soon as he realizes that the real world does’t like a smart ass who thinks he knows everything before he turns 14. I think he should leave home now while he still knows everything. lol.

I think it was Twain, but not sure, who said that when he was 14 he realized his parents were really really stupid. And when he was 21, he was amazed at how much they learned in seven years.

  94. Oh and by the way Catsrclean. I love ya. lol.

  97. PM with poor eyesight?

    Give him some DVD movies.

  98. “OK don’t get mad at me, but that kid annoys the crap out of me. ”

I saw this child last night, quite by accident, and he creeped me out as much as any Bot does. The fact the women anchors were being sniped at because “The Conservative Prodigy” (WTF is THAT?!) was “leaving them dumbfounded” (according to the male anchor) and was spouting platitudes and envisioning himself as Rush 2.0, left me bewildered at where we have gone as a country, and with the sickening feeling that this is ALL The Republicans know how to do. The Democrats are sickening enough NOW, but throw this juvenile, in his Brooks Brothers Coat and Tie and his Saville Row persona into the “future of America” arm wrestling contest with a fainting and Cheeto-finger-stained Bot, for the heart and mind of Political Ideology the United States, and we are screwed for the next 50 years.

I have to go to bed now.

    Pray the Mayans were right.

    xo

  99. Ater all….with obambi…no woinder he is so tired…

    It’s not easy, being green…

  100. [...] Uppity Woman’s take. Personally, FF, I can’t wait for 12 /21/12. However, I saw a documentary about it, and I fear that it’s nothing by nothing. Seems the sun is going to rise in the exact center of the galaxy that day. That’s it.

  103. Listen, Mary honey: You lived thru 6/6/66 and 9/9/99 and the twentieth century’s bomb shelter hoax, Y2k. All these things ever do is make HUGE bucks for evangelical nutballs and enterprising con men.

  104. ….. Seems the sun is going to rise in the exact center of the galaxy that day. That’s it.

Wait, the SUN will be in the exact center of the galaxy???? Bu..bu..but I thought Obama was the center of the galaxy?

  105. Give him US DVD’s that wont play in European DVD players…even better.

  106. Uppity,

Normally I’d agree with your answer to Mary about the significance of silly dates, but when it come to the end of the Mayan calendar there’s a bit more to it (these were some seriously excellent astronomers). If you’re familiar with the concept of precession of the equinox, then you should know that the Earth tilts up to 23.5 degrees on its axis (the reason we have seasons), and the angle is currently at… you guessed it! 23.5 degrees. There is a possibility that the Mayan calendar was based on the reversal of the Earth’s tilt, but we aren’t quite as advanced as they were – our scientists don’t have any idea when the planet will start to wobble in the opposite direction. Educated guess by those willing to venture one? Around 2012 -2015.

  107. Interesting read at NYT (via Wash Post, via Drudge) about an interview PBO gave on AFO, then had to rethink an answer about being a socialist…..so he called the NYT BACK to reiterate that he is not a socialist and that this is all Bush’s fault….
It makes me feel so much better knowing he is consumed with thinking about our country…….NOT…….he is consumed with thinking about himself and how he is viewed. This is going to be his Achilles’ Heel….

  108. Uppity, I agree with Grail Guardian. It’s all in the Hopi prophecy, too.
Personally — at the rate of Global Warming the poles will shift?
    That is the theory.

One more thing to be worried about — but — maybe all the bad guys will get hurled off the planet in the process?

    Call me Californian!

    xxoo!

    I loves you Uppity!

Let’s just hope they end on Mars or something…

    2012.

The end of the Mayan Calendar.

  109. UW,

    1. I truly appreciate you trying to talk sense to me, but some things have nothing to do with logic. The advent of the usurper in the White House is one of them.
    2. What GG said.
    3. GG, FF, vbonnaire,
In a stellar article on plate tectonics maybe 20 years ago, National Geographic noted the Earth’s polarity has shifted many times throughout history, so further shifts are very likely to occur. But what, if anything, this–or any other doomsday prophecy–has to do with the part of the galaxy in which the sun rises I have no idea. The scientists in the Mayan Doomsday (12/21/12) documentary on the History Channel did not seem to have any specific idea, either. I’m just going to wait with GG, FF and see what happens.
    4. imuststockuponsunscreen,
“Wait, the SUN will be in the exact center of the galaxy???? Bu..bu..but I thought Obama was the center of the galaxy?”
    ROFLOL
Maybe he’ll get a really sunburn.

  110. edit: reslly bad sunburn.

  111. btw, I HATE Daylight Savings Time.

  112. Mary,

Did you know that the #1 proponent of Daylight Savings Time is the US Chamber of Commerce? They think it will make you more likely to shop after work if it’s light outside.

That makes me never want to shop at night between March and November.

  113. If you’re familiar with the concept of precession of the equinox, then you should know that the Earth tilts up to 23.5 degrees on its axis (the reason we have seasons)

Also the elliptical orbit of the earth.

  114. GG,

The business of America is business– not my favorite slogan, either.

I thought DST had to do with conserving energy during WWII, which would’ve made it patriotic.. Apparently it’s noble intentions have been appropriated and trashed by the money-grubbing crowd.

Actually, I don’t come alive until nighttime, so prolonged daylight cuts into my creative hours. Either it’s my unique circadian rhythms manifesting, or I am part vampire

  116. I read someplace that Obozo REALLY wants to meet the Queen, not her PM.

But, if I’m not mistaken, in order to get to meet the Queen, she has to want to meet you.

IOW, SHE issues you the invite, not the other way around.

I hope she blows the clown off the entire 4 years we’re stuck with his bony no account a$$.

  117. sonrisa, he has an audience with the queen on April Fools Day. Does anyone think that Mechelle will bow to a white woman.

    IM NOT KIDDING APRIL 1st

  118. OMG April Fools Day! The Court Jester meets the Queen!

  119. DE,

The Queen is gracious, and a lady born and bred. Mrs.0 won’t have a clue.
