I’m sure many of you remember the post of the two engineers and their “Engineers Guide To Cats”.

Anybody who has ever known or loved an engineer could not help but appreciate these two guys and laugh hysterically. If you haven’t seen  that video, I am posting it again below, because they have another video called “Advanced Cat Yodeling”. I think you really need to see the first video to appreciate Advanced Cat Yodeling, so I am re-posting their “Guide” again first. (over 3, 750,000 youtube hits).

    This was my first Dell and it is going to be my last. I have 3 HPs and they all are running care free. One is 7 years old and it still runs like a top.
    Never owned a lap top and from the amount of complaints I read on them and knowing folks with them I am inclined to pass other then the fact I do need one when and if I am away from home for an extended time.
    I swear some times I want to dump all computers and ban them from my home lol but then how can I track and stalk you rofffffffffff
    I have to have these darn things because some of the greatest folks I have had the pleasure of knowing came into my life via the Internet.

    A side note cats can literally climb walls and make very strange noises if you pee on them…….just sayin I did that once by accident. Definitely one of my greatest fears coming true and probably the cat’s too. BUT he never drank out of the toilet again, LOL! Plus I always look before I sit down…never want to feel something coming between my legs, growling while I’m on a toilet again! Lucky I was already on the toilet if you know what I mean, LOL!

    I was given a brand new souped-up HP Laptop for graphics and movie making. I am having the Toshiba tuned up now for my little old lady friend to play with (I know, risky move!)

    I would NEVER EVER EVER own another Dell. Ever. In fact, although both the laptops are great, I would like to one day get a Mac again.

    AS for Michelle and the Candy-corn bag she is wearing. WTF? That’s kinda like the Black Widow Dress she wore after the Election win in Chicago. Remember? She, BO and the girls all dressed in Black and Red? Color coordinated with Marxism, I suppose. This time – July Fourth, Independence Day…Black.

    Such a Festive and Patriotic Display!

    I really hate to comment too often on what women wear (unless it is a burka) as I believe it keeps the focus on them not as people, but as objects. But I really do not understand why everyone thinks she is a fashion plate.

    In addition, I don’t think bustles will catch on…..

    No need to blame Dell – all PCs are basically made from the same parts and assembled in Indonesia by slave labor anyway. The reason your HPs run is that they are older. Each generation of PCs get cheaper and cheaper – I’ve worked on some seriously crappy HPs and Toshibas. The one advantage Dell does offer (if you’re willing to pay for it) is onsite support. Most of the American field techs are decent people that will help you as much as they can.

    I’ve done service for both Dell and HP, and as aggravating as they are, I’ll still take Dell. The secret is you need to buy one of their business class machines, then you have the option to purchase US tech support. BTW – just bought a new Dell Vostro laptopcwith Windows XP “downgrade”. That’s the other advantage of the business line.

Apparently the Palin’s have shelled out about $500,000 defending Sarah and they are not rich people. How sad that is and those that lodged the complaints aren’t out a dime. Perhaps some kind of reform is needed in that area, like if the charges are proven false you pick up the tab. That might be a little too harsh, that could stop just about any citizen from lodging a complaint. But there has to be some mechanism to stop the continual abuse and to help the victim in such a case recoup some of their costs. Clearly since this tactic was successful it will be probably be used again if the laws in a state are favorable.

    I mss your articles but I find it easier to post now. If a piece is called “Open Thread” then you feel free to post on any topic. When the piece is about a specific topic, sometimes you want to post something you came across but can’t figure out where so you don’t bother. The open thread allows more freedom in that sense…but I miss your excellent articles!!!

    I, too, was all set to get a new laptop, but decided on a small investment to see if I could avoid a big one. I doubled the RAM, and, hey presto, it worked. When I’m ready for a new one, it will probably be a Mac. I’m sick of being jerked around by Microsoft and its little game of musical operating systems. They keep changing even though it ain’t anywhere near broke. And the old system you knew how to work is no longer available.

    Before you get a new one, UW, you might check with DE about what’s out there.

    I am surprisingly computer smart Mary, in fact you might actually be shocked at what I did in my former life. I’ve actually saved more than a few dying computers. I am a security freak too. But I won’t touch hardware because I have a thing about electrostatic discharge and never feel secure about it because you can ruin components. It’s a long story, call it a little phobia. Anyhow, I won’t be buying anything without tedious research. But alas, I am a PC person so it won’t be a MAC, although I have used them. I’ve been using computers since the early 80s. I could tell you stories. I have used just about every single early PC, starting with Commodore and TRS 80. I remember when I had to wrtie my own menus on DOS machines till Windows was introduced. MACs break down a lot less but when they do, it’s pretty close to over.And when it comes to software and windows, I have years of experience with PCs, so it works very well for me. I agree MS is the devil though, but I outfox them. I am still using IE 6 as i blocked their efforts to load 7 or 8. If you pay attention and know they are about to release another bomb, you can get a little program that stops the download dead and MS is forced to respect that.I never allow these updates until they are done debugging in the field. I also predicted early that Vista will go the way of Windows ME. A short lived buggy system that is yanked from the market. I know for a fact that Microsoft does their serious debugging for free in the field and they take some computers with them along the way. I can’t respect a company like that. That’s why I pay attention to what they are up to so that I can master them instead of the other way around. By the way everyone, Vista is drowning already and MS is coming out with a new windows. Just as I thought. A pig in a poke. If you are in the market for a new computer, you will notice that they are “selling” future Upgrades in anticipation. In other words, everybody knows Vista is crap, and they have found a way to charge YOU for the future fix.

    I agree 100%. If they’re not good enough for my pet, or my pet is not good enough for them, they’re no one I want to know. Someone Ionce told me he didn’t like animals. You can believe my husband and I gave him a wide berth. And of course he turned out to be, in FF talk, an asshat.

    I am impressed by your computer experience and knowledge. I have to hire it done, but the Geek Squad in the relatively nearby Best Buy has never disappointed me. My Toshiba laptop, which you indicated doesn’t meet your need for on-site repair, is the bottom of their line and has been a real work horse for me.
