In a booth, in a corner, in the dark, late at night as is always the case with this bunch when they are looking to pass something that probably is going to screw America, the House passed their version of Health Care Reform. As usual, we have no idea what’s REALLY in it, but we sure will find out at one of our future doctor’s visits, won’t we now?
One Republican, Joseph Cao of Louisiana jumped theRepublican sheep herd and voted with the Democrats. 39 Democrats also decided that sheep stink and voted No.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called passage of the bill “an historic moment for our nation and for America’s families,” while Republicans warned that the bill will raise taxes, increase insurance premiums and make cuts to Medicare. An enormous round of applause broke out throughout the House chamber when the crucial 218th vote was cast to ensure the bill’s passage.
It was also an historical moment when Nancy was installed as the first female speaker of the House. I shed a tear that day. And she has never failed to disappoint me ever since.
And as usual, these two parties have given us nothing except hysterical platitudes throughout this entire process. God, I hate them both for their nasty partisan crap and their spitting hissy fits that help nobody ever. The only thing they are good at is dividing the country. Not an honest one among them. They are the virtual picture of the money changers that Jesus got really pissed off at. Everything they do to us benefits them and their friends. They are an odious lot. And nearly half of them came to Congress with very little and are now multimillionaires, invested heavily in the very things they control by their laws. They all belong in prison if you ask me. But I digress. I can do that. It’s my blog.
The $1.3 trillion-dollar bill would require individuals to buy health insurance, and would also require medium and large businesses to provide it to their employees. Consumers would be able to buy their insurance on an exchange, which would include a public insurance option for people who do not have access to insurance through their jobs. Low- and middle-income families would receive government subsidies to purchase insurance, which would be be paid for through tax increases on individuals making more than $500,000 per year, as well as fees on medical providers. Finally, the bill would prohibit insurance companies from dropping or denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions or cost of care.
We’ll see won’t we now?
Pelosi added that the bill would also reduce drug costs for seniors, prevent insurance companies from charging women more than men for the same coverage, and would allow young adults to stay on their parents’ insurance until their 27th birthdays. She also promised that the bill would add “not one dime to the deficit.”
……and the knife ran away with the spoon….
A crucial barrier to the bill was eliminated when the House passed an amendment by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), a pro-life Democrat, by a vote of 240 to 192. Stupak’s measure would prevent insurance companies from participating in the new government exchange if they also cover abortion. It would also require women enrolled in the exchange to purchase supplemental abortion insurance with private funds if they want to be covered for the service in the future.
Prepare to support a lot of unwanted babies with your tax money, folks. And we will need a volunteer to count up the bodies of dead women who find other ways to abort their unwanted pregnancies. More babies in dumpsters and left on doorsteps. Just like the old days. I wonder if gynecological exams are even covered for women in this bill. I mean, they are just women so screw them. You can bet Viagra is covered though. I imagine that raped women just get to go fuck themselves a second time because their abortions aren’t covered either. How very typical that they would give the men the tools to rape and leave the woman with the abomination. I wonder who pays if the woman’s life is in danger? Nevermind, we know that answer too. The truth is, if men could get pregnant, abortion wouldn’t be an issue, it would be a sacrament. Just saying.
Pelosi added that the bill would also reduce drug costs for seniors, prevent insurance companies from charging women more than men for the same coverage, and would allow young adults to stay on their parents’ insurance until their 27th birthdays. She also promised that the bill would add “not one dime to the deficit.”
Well I guess one way to reduce drug costs for old people is not to let them get their drugs, expecially if they are too expensive. And isn’t it wonderful that parents can be stuck with their deadbeat kids who are hanging around waiting for an offer to be Lord of A Company till they are 27 years old? I remember when 27 year olds were already married and supporting families on their own. Now they can still suck their thumbs till age 27. I wonder if a parent can refuse to ensure these Non Children Who Act Like Children if they so choose or if the parents get a 27 year old’s fine for not being insured. Just asking.
A “Public Option” is also included in the bill, but I’m not fooled. Harry is going to crap all over that one and we all know it.

"This is not culture. This is not custom. This is criminal."
Its freaking Saturday nite, and they just passed this monstrosity? 2000 pages? Nice of them to let America have time to find out whats in it. There must be some seriously bad shit in there for them to have to pass it in such a secretive, nefarious manner. If this beast passes the senate & barky signs it, will it go into law right away, or will republican groups sue them, I wonder.
Ane while we were looking at the incident at Ft. Hood–and an incident is all it was, not the new 9/11 that rhe media made it–the House of Reprehensibles fucked us over. “look there, not here,” and hey, presto, the rabbit pops out of the hat.
I hope this country is fucking ready to blow.
If this passes the senate, we can kiss off any effort to enact real reform on health care…for good. Who would have thought the Democrat party would be the ones responsible.
Uppity – good to see you posting so much – I know, I have been remiss and not been by as often as I should; being unemployed does that. Hey – did you know that there is an amendment in that POS bill they just passed that exempts Hawaii from Pelosicare but we still get to pay for it on top of the $4 Billion in new taxes our legislature passed on…wait for it….4.15.09?
Moonbat paradise is un-frakkin-believable!
And Jay? The Progressive Socialists took hold of the Dem party 80 years ago – this is no surprise.
Hey uppity – I just posted a comment and it came up as logged in as “thedametruth”. What up with that? Damn – it was a good comment too.
Okay – going to try this again.
I am so very glad to see you posting so much again. I have been remiss and not visiting as often as I should, being unemployed does that. On top of all the crap surrounding losing my job, I no longer have health insurance for my son and cannot purchase it here. Also, there is an amendment in that POS bill they just passed that exempts Hawaii from Pelosicare but we still get to pay for it on top of the $4 Billion in new taxes our legislature just passed on…wait for it…. 4.15.09. Can you believe moonbat paradise?
Un-frakkin’-believable!
Jay – the Progressive Socialist absorbed the Dem party 80 years ago – this is no surprise.
Keep up the great work Uppity!!!!!
It is unbelievable. I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears when I heard this horrendous betrayal of us on TV. Do our Members of Congress bother to listen to us at all? This is taxation without representation at its finest. What a travesty and what a crock…thank heavens for your site, Uppity!
So the first female speaker of the house was able to secure enough votes for universal health coverage by throwing all women (at least the ones that still have a uterus) under the bus – The New DNC – building a bridge to the 19th century!
And the Dems have complete ownership of this fiasco.
“It was also an historical moment when Nancy was installed as the first female speaker of the House. I shed a tear that day. And she has never failed to disappoint me ever since.”
I couldn’t agree more, Uppity. I remember shortly after she became speaker, I was visiting DC with my sister and we stood in front of the sign congratulating her and did the “Stephen Colbert” thumbs up pose for pictures. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So annoying. I have truly come to hate that woman.
Sorry to hog the comments – this will be my last one.
“Pelosi added that the bill would also reduce drug costs for seniors, prevent insurance companies from charging women more than men for the same coverage, and would allow young adults to stay on their parents’ insurance until their 27th birthdays. She also promised that the bill would add “not one dime to the deficit.””
I’m sure it will reduce drug costs for viagra at least, while at the same time probably denying coverage for birth control, I would not be surprised. And young adults could already stay on their parents insurance until age 26, as long as they are living in your home. And andybody who believes this won’t add a dime to the deficit needs to buy some swampland ASAP.
“They are the virtual picture of the money changers that Jesus got really pissed off at.”
Sadly, so true. That is exactly what Congress and the executive branch are today – new age money changers. And this time it is up to us as citizens to throw them all out of the church……….um.….I mean Congress and the executive branch in the next few election cycles.
This bill is an outrage. Yes, this bill and this moment will go down in history. But not for what Obama and Pelosi think it will. The FDR Democratic Party is now officially dead.
ehemmmm….Bert…..”The FDR Democratic Party is now officially dead.”…..that happened during the primaries and concluded with the sham of a nomination of an obomination….
Congress sucks…..( I mean in this light of day….Berlesconi standing up to the EU Court fo his countrys culture is lookin pretty good comparatively…..chuckle…..) Ethix is Ethix…..
NYT : Mr. Obama, during his private pep talk to Democrats, recognized Mr. Owens election and then posed a question to the other lawmakers. According to Representative Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, who supports the health care bill, the president asked, “Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit” Democratic voters “and it will encourage the extremists.”
Yeah…..devisive to say the least…..
If that’s what the printed in the NYT imagine how bad it really was. Obama must really love us.
I love how our POTUS uses the gayporn slang term adopted by the msm courtesy of that idiot on CNN to describe teaparty dissenters….The King has spoketh…..sheeeesh!
hmmmm……

That’s a real morale booster from barfy, “You’re going to lose your seats anyway, so you should at least punish the country before you leave.”
It’s kind of interesting that abortion funding is the last straw for opponents of oilsoc who are proponents of UHC. This has been a bag of compromises from Day 1.
So far:
-Poor people who can’t afford $4,000 for insurance (the government will only subsidizie the destitute) now get to pay a $1,000 fine and STILL get no insurance.
-All insurance will be written by the BIG INSURANCE companies until the “trigger” is flipped.
-The plan went from being deficit neutral to under $1 trillion to $1.2 trillion. And the Senate hasn’t added their pork.
-Nothing changes for 3-9 years.
-Seniors will have to pay out of pocket for the AARP insurance that makes all their revenue. Or they can face the death panels, which are back in.
-Doctors get rewarded not only for signed DNRs but for those that go through with it and don’t change their mind at the last minute.
But that’s okay, because the bill has provisions to make private insurance illegal in 2019.
Abortion funding was the final compromise. It’s where Republicans and some conservatives sold their souls. Cao used it for cover. The Catholic Church used it as an excuse to endorse it. It may not have passed without it. Of course, oilsoc promised the Democrats that it will be taken out of the final bill. We know he always keeps his promises.
“Just sign on the line.”
nice nutshell palin4prez….
It will be interestink when most of America wakes up and sees what this is…..especially the working poor…..
It’s amazing how fast they can get a bill done that will CHANGE America as we know it starting in 2016.
one of the BEST articles I’ve read on this issue….short & sweet and asks all the right questions…..
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/11/national_health_care_reform.html
from the American Thinker article linked above…..
The states have the power under the Tenth Amendment to control issues within their borders. During the Korean War, President Truman ordered Secretary of Commerce Sawyer to take over the steel industry under the general emergency power given the President in Article II. However, the Supreme Court ruled in 1952 under Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. et al. v. Sawyer that Truman did not have this authority. If such a takeover is illegal in wartime, how could it be acceptable during peacetime? However, our leaders will not be stopped by this argument, so we still have to examine their programs.
What I’d like to know is can any states refuse to enact this bill once it becomes law?
What I want to know is if that clause saying a person could be imprisoned for not carrying health insurance remains in this atrocity.
And is Viagra/Cialis/whatever covered? What about tests for the early detection of prostate cancers? What about hormone replacement therapies? I’ve been hearing the AMA or the American Cancer group is now saying that annual mammograms aren’t necessary unless there is a biological trait in the family or a history in the consumer. (I have been fighting that reference “consumer” in medicine for years. Sick people, or people who don’t want to be sick are not freaking shoppers!)
You got that right, wca.
I felt so pleased (smug even) when Pelosi was named Madame Speaker. Now I see her as just as bad as Hastert and just as disreputable. She’s just better looking and thinner than Hastert.
(and on some days, when the botox is wearing out, she is just as bad looking as Hastert ever was.) they make me sick.
Oh no! . . . . I can’t afford to be sick. And I really mean that.
Yeah to get the flavor of just how rotten and uncaring and out of touch these congressional millionaires are, people couldn’t afford health insurance and that’s why they didn’t have it. Now they STILL can’t afford it but they will be fined and go to jail for not being able to afford it. This is the same stupid deal they cooked up for “credit card reform” that ended up fucking the middle class even worse, only this time, it’s much bigger. These assholes all deserve to be bodily removed from office for their stupidity, their insensitivity to real people and their complete unwillingness to represent anybody except their friends and the companies they are invested in.
Right on, P4!
And not only did congress screw seniors and women, AARP helped them just like they helped them last time. AARP is nothing more than an insurance company and seniors need to leave them by the millions. They are lordef over by young people who not only couldn’t care less about seniors, they find them an annoyance to their business. and I can’t wait to post a video to prove it.
A description of another proud moment in our nations history….from the NY Post…..
” The House chamber looked more like a college basketball arena than government building around 11 p.m., with Democrats exploding into a raucous cheer when they reached the 218 yea votes needed for passage.
They then counted down the final 10 seconds of voting in unison like it was New Year’s Eve.
But the Republicans had their fun as well — waving a mocking goodbye to their counterparts and chanting “Na na na, hey hey, goodbye” — suggesting the legislation would lead to electoral defeat.
Earlier, the House defeated the GOP’s health-reform proposal along mostly party lines. “
AARP SUCKS ! (And I really mean that.)
I left them when they supported the Medicare “reform” that gave Big PHRMA their strangle hold on the American “consumers”. I watched CSPAN until after 4:00 a.m. when the bill finally passed after threats, deals and crimes against the american citizens were made in the halls of congress.
If I could leave them again I would. I remember that townhall-like meeting with AARP when the person who was representing ARP walked out after people indicated their distrust and questioned the ethix of AARP.
Hope you don’t mind Leslie but I removed the video as if I leave it up it will render the post i am going to put up useless. I’m using tha video.
Well since we now a hoops shooting pResident, I suppose everything that gets passed is going to have that rah-rah flavor to it. As if we are nothing more than fans at a basketball game.
I’d like to “dunk” Ozer0 and his “Congressional team” into the nearest dumpster and then send it to the landfill.
I need to go outside and get some fresh air. It is beautiful here today (chicago) and we don’t get many of these indian summer-like weekends. Plus, maybe I can work up a sweat and get some of these toxins out of my system.
See y’all later on today. Stay healthy.
Uppity, I don’t mind at all…..
I look forward to seeing your post.
Since when is the democratic party meeting with bishops to write anti-abortion amendments? Am I the only one hearing alarm bells going off?
i.ll be back to see that post Upp.it,s gotta be a doozie
Thanks Leslie.
Yeah, one article I read said that there were shouts of “FIRED UP! READY TO GO!” from adult congressional representatives as Obama left their presence. This is just plain disgusting, annoying and ridiculous the way the man and his sycophants are still acting like they are campaigning and acting like googly-eyed followers of desposts like Kim Il, instead of running the country like adults. I’m telling you, it’s become a major eye-rolling joke.
RE: AARP – I have never been a member and never will be. Last mailing they sent me I tore up in pieces and slipped those pieces into a folded piece of paper smoothed it all out nice and flat and mailed it back to them in their postage paid return envelope.
I’m surprised they didn’t call the Republicasn Special Olympians while they were at it.
Oh, and the 50%+ of Americans who like the president “personally?” Hitler was nice to his dog, but he still sent 20 million people to their deaths.
Arggh, I need to rant!
As a native San Franciscan (now transplanted to NY), I witnessed Poolosi in action for years and detested her–just viscerally loathed her, the stupid posturing prancing Rich Bitch greedy for power just for the sake of having power and “winning.” I was furious that such a worthless bitch got the honor of being the first woman Speaker. I didn’t celebrate at all–quite the contrary. I knew she got the spot because she knew who to suck up to and who to threaten. I can’t look at her without seeing a brown-stained nose and nails broken from clawing her way to the top. I still can’t believe that the Botox Queen has been able to keep her post and do so much damage.
Deja vu when Obummer and not Colin Powell became the first black President. (You may not like Powell, but consider that he would have been a good moderate choice, respected by both parties, with good (pre-Bush-fall-guy) national-defense creds.) It’s sickeningly undeserved. It’s like some bad movie showing the worst possible outcome of two generations of affirmative action–a total huckster gets pushed through the political machine and plopped into the office of the president, by hook and by crook. Any attempts to investigate the processes that put him in there are blocked by screeched accusations of racism and Meen-Spiritedness.
So now I’ve got Anthony Weiner the wiener, Chuckie Schumer, and the vote-conscious, increasingly left-tilting Gillibrand. True, I’m not in San Francisco anymore, but am I any better off? (Well, yes–I have Bloomberg instead of Gavin Newsom for my mayor. That’s some comfort.)
There’s not much point in my writing or calling my congresspeople to urge them to block this bill, but I’ll do it anyway. Meanwhile, those of you with Republican or non-party-line Democrat senators–please make your displeasure known! Loudly and often!
One hopeful point: There is a question about the constitutionality of Congress forcing Americans to buy health insurance or be fined or imprisoned for not doing so. I’ve read only a few mentions of this–it’s new ground. If anyone finds good commentary on this subject, please post a link.
UW, this site is a lifesaver. My GOP friends want me to pledge my allegiance to all of their party’s beliefs, which I sure can’t do, and I’m through with the Democrats at present so can’t talk about anything substantial with my still-true-believing Dem friends. Lots of us are in the same awful spot. This site is an oasis.
Ann, I really like your comment: “The New Democratic Party, building a bridge to the 19th Century”
That should be the new catchphrase for all of the puma people.
Bert said,”The FDR Democratic Party is now officially dead.”
No, it has just arrived closer to its Socialist-LiberalFasist destination.
swell said,
“Am I the only one hearing alarm bells going off?”
Don’t tell me you’re bothered by that pesky business about separation .of church and state. Haven’t you heard? oilsoc and his czars have declared that the Constitution obsolete.
Look at the demons we have walking around loose in our country, and look what they teach their children besides.
They should remove her minor children from her right now and then run her and her serial killer in training son in this video down, the sick bastards.

The pet mrderer will pay a fine, move away, and continue where she left off. I’d like to meet up with her first.
Good God, a middle-aged female animal torturer? Doesn’t fit the usual demographic. Any amateur or professional psychologists among us who has some explanation or theory for it?
Do you suppose we’ll learn that her oldest son is also the father of some of his siblings? He looked a little inbred himself.
(At least we as a society are treating animal abuse as a serious crime. Even if it is because we’re afraid the abusers will go on to humans next, it’s a good, and fairly recent, development. But imagine what the Animal Control agents go through every day.)
This seems the most recently active thread, so I’m posting this new Ft. Hood shooter item here:
The sackoshit liked his lap dances:

He did it for Allah.
Just like every other religious zealot we know, he lives one way and prays another.
It’s amazing how fast Fox News can track down a story when there is a stripper involved. Notice how the friggin misogynists disclosed her real name so their readers can track her down, call her house, follow her home.
