Ellie Light may be the most unique Obama fan in history. She wrote a letter to the editor for him. In many cities. Ellie has written this letter to the Philadelphia Daily News, Bangkok Post, Washington Times, San Francisco Examiner, Mansfield News Journal, Ruidoso News, The Sun News, and the Baltimore Chronicle, along with a few other more obscure newspapers. The fun part is she signs it from “Long Beach, California”. Except when she’s from “Philadelphia”. Or wherever.
Good God! What if Ellie Astral Projects! Yes I bet that’s it! Beam me up, Ellie!
She even emailed her letter to Ben Smith so the internets political junkies could get to see it.
To tell you the truth, I’m kind of hurt I didn’t get one. I gotta work on that traffic!
Don’t you just have a visual of some emotional adolescent over in the white house publicity office sitting at his computer, rolling his tongue around to get the Cheeto pieces out of his teeth, penning this letter? Or maybe some Obama sycophant doing this from his parents’ basement?
At any rate, I’m sure there is a perfectly good explanation for Ellie Light’s uncanny ability to beam herself up and sign her name as a resident of different cities. Well, not really.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer caught up with “Ellie” after they received the same letter via email and responsibly inquired about her identity and address. According to The Plain Dealer
Her publications list includes other papers in Ohio, West Virginia, Maine, Michigan, Iowa, Pennsylvania and California, all claiming separate addresses.
Ellie,possibly on break from her Astral Projection project, refused to provide an identity to reporter Sabrina Eaton. Nice Job Cleveland!!! You pwned Ellie!

Give Obama a break
A year ago, if we had read in the paper that employers were hiring again, that health care legislation was proceeding without a bump, that Afghanistan had suddenly become a nice place to take your children, we would have known we were being told lies. Back then, we recognized that the problems Barack Obama had inherited as president wouldn’t go away overnight.
During his campaign, Mr. Obama clearly said that an economy that took eight years to break couldn’t be fixed in a year, that Afghanistan was a graveyard of empires and would not be an easy venture for us. Candidate Obama didn’t feed us happy talk, which is why we elected him. He never said America could solve its health care, economic and security problems without raising the deficit. Instead, he talked of hard choices, of government taking painful and contentious first steps toward fixing problems that can’t be left for another day.
Right after Mr. Obama’s election, we seemed to grasp this. We understood that companies would be happy to squeeze more work out of frightened employees and would be slow to hire more. We understood that the banks that had extorted us out of billions of dollars were lying when they said they would share their recovery. We understood that a national consensus on health care would not come easily. Candidate Obama never claimed that his proposed solutions would work flawlessly right out of the box, and we respected him for that.
Today, the president is being attacked as if he were a salesman who promised us that our problems would wash off in the morning. He never made such a promise. It’s time for Americans to realize that governing is hard work and that a president can’t just wave a magic wand and fix everything.

Imust + UW- do you use lamb or beef in your shepard’s pie? I learned to make it from my Nana- (she was off the boat from Scotland-early 1900′s I think she was an illegal- what does that make me?) She used mutton the butcher ground for her. Very strong taste- but I liked it.

LOL Single malt- I’ll go check the liquor cabinet! Hubby and I both worked as bartenders in the long long ago- you know- when people were actually responsible for their own actions? (We gave it up when MA made the bartender personally responsible and liable for the drunks.) Long story short- lots of our regulars would give us liquor for Christmas- they always gave what THEY drank- like we were going to invite them over! LOL – the GOOD regulars gave envelopes with cash.

I mean HE had them for 40 years, and as you know, aging before sale added even more years. They were exquisite. But the very best was the third bottle. It was a bottle of Grand Amagnac, same age. So i uncorked this bottle and the bouquet from this bottle filled the room. it was exquisite.

I do have to tell you that it is NOT unusal for letters to the editor to be written by someone in the campaign. Then they get people to sign each one. This is VERY common. I have seen people sign false names, but generally they get discovered because they have to confirm their address and phone number. What stands out here is SO MANY “reputable” news outlets did not check for ID confirmation. It’s really unconcienable that this went as far as it did. As it turns out Cleveland was the only really responsible paper because they required solid ID.
That child was also skipping school. It’s not the first time Obama has winked and nodded about that. There was the time he “wrote the note” to the teacher. Remember? And the time he was in the diner and the kid told him he cut school to see him. He laughed. Then just before the election, and I have a screen shot of that somewhere, when he basically told people he needed their help on election day and encouraged kids to take the day off……..and also employees to do it. I found this all very unsettling, but apparently the press didn’t.

FF, I did see Kucinich on TV a few times. Like I said, I never watched him much. What I saw was he was very critical of the party, and very critical of what was happening with health care reform. From what I could see, he’s not a loud man, or a screamer, but he makes his point calmly. He looks to me like a guy who comes with a match not a blowtorch. At least that’s what I saw the few times I saw him. He was on FOX, because I wouldn’t imagine MSNBC would have him criticizing congress and the presidency, even in a rational way.
I think he might actually be a Progressive. There are so few of them around that it’s hard to spot them, even though so many use the word.
I think a lot of these papers were looking for a pro-Jackass letter like the one from Ellie Light. That’s why they all seemed to publish it. Probably no other real reader was sending a letter with those sentiments.
If the newspapers had any integrety, they would go after the administration’s tactics of media manipulation and the threat to democracy.
1539 I don’t think your scenario above will ever happen. Too many from the press are in bed with this administration and have been since the campaign. They are not going to expose themselves or “family”. They might thump their chests a little, but truly expose things…..never going to happen.

My name is Ellie Light, and I am an individual amazed at the lack of support offered for President Obama, especially by people of his own party, by people who worked very hard to elect him. By design, this email will land in the in-boxes of Obama’s opponents, and I’ve got to hand you one thing. You guys know a thing or two about loyalty. When President Bush became unpopular for his decisions, you guys stood by him. When Trent Lott and Delay told the pro-lifers and school-prayer folks to put a cork in it, because “now is not the time,” you did as you were told. And no sarcasm intended, because it was good for the GOP to show some loyalty. We Dems appear to have zero. Take the Guantanamo decision. Obama promised he’d close it. What about the prisoners? Do we ship ‘em back to their country of origin? Do we force them on a particular US state? Anyone with a brain would realize that there are many steps between stating the intention of closing it, and sending the prisoners on thier way. But count on us Dems to start calling “Liar, Liar.” Oh, and of course, we Democrats are the same people who complain about the growing power of the Executive Branch, pointing out that ever since Nixon, the President’s war-making power, and over-reaching Executive privilege have increased. But yet, we Democrats complain the loudest that the President lacks what it takes do the things he promised, at least not fast enough. You know. Do them right now. Before my coffee gets cold and I have to change the TV station. Speaking of TV, that “put the cameras in the health care debate” attack was another self-defeating move. As if it were the President’s decision alone to muscle past Congress and force the cameras into their faces. The President can promise to do something, but what with the world collapsing around us and all, it might take a little time to work through each promise. But I think it makes us Democrats feel independent and enlightened to deliver up stinging critiques of Obama’s every action. It shows the world that we are not blind followers. As if it were a point of embarrassment to stand by a President in a tough moment. Sheesh. Trash Obama so you can burnish your credentials as a Peace Activist. Trash Obama so you can sound like a Genuine Liberal. What Priorities. Heaven forbid that a person set aside their timetable and allow a new President to get his bearings. So I’m not surprised with you guys, the folks who stay up late finding something sinister in everything Obama says and does. You’re just carrying out your beliefs. It’s like church. I’m mostly just shocked with my own kind, because, unless we Democrats learn a bit about loyalty, about a unified front, you Tea Partiers will all enjoy front row seats to kiss the feet of Queen Sarah on the White House lawn in January 2013.

Well, Ellie, whomever you truly are, this is to be your first and last comment on this blog. First, let’s clear something up. Forget the cookie cutter remarks. I am a Democrat. What I am not is a Regressive. I am a left-leaning moderate, so I already know I’m no “Genuine Liberal”. To me, extremism is the path to destruction. Far as I can see, you far left cliff hangers have done nothing but switch places with the far right for the past few decades. Both are destroying my country in rotation. So don’t give me that tea party and queen sarah bullcrap. If there were a party named “Sensible,” I would register. There, that’s cleared up.
Secondly, what you did was quite dishonest, but you already know that. Now here you are acting the victim, when in fact you tried to fool hundreds of thousands of people with a disingenuous plan and claims to residency. So if you feel like a victim today, it doesn’t really seem to compare to the people you hoped to fool, but I think you know that too. To play the victim at this point will only further inflame everyone who knows what you have done. Instead of playing the victim you need to think about the effect of your efforts. I’m serious here. Now that this is public, do you not think it is possible that you may have done more harm to Barack Obama than anyone on the internet who has reported it? The hundreds of thousands of Google hits on this issue are not a good thing.
If you really want to do the right thing, I would suggest that you come forward publically and apologize to the Americans whose neighbor you pretended to be. Then you need to apologize to Barack Obama for the embarrassment you have caused him at a time when this kind of thing couldn’t look worse. You see Ellie, when this kind of thing is discovered, people tend to believe that a member of his staff is behind it. That’s the nature of politics in general. Just saying.
What you don’t need to do is show up on forums, insult everyone and make things worse. The only one who looks bad here, Ellie, is you. If you hadn’t done what you did, we wouldn’t be having a conversation Hopefully, someone will make you see that.
I’d like to think that Barack Obama has a few hundred worshippers like you left so that they might each write their own letter. If there aren’t enough genuine letters to the editor, what exactly makes you think that you will suffice by being disingenuine. Let me put it this way Ellie. Would you trust with your wallet a person who did what you did for New Gingrich? Exactly what would you think of the points that person was trying to make?
Do you know what separates the hanging-off-the-cliff far left people from the hanging-off-the-cliff far right people, Ellie? Nothing. I’d have more to say on that, but somehow, I would imagine, that would be a waste of my time.
As for the rest on this board, please know that Ellie won’t be posting again and you need not supplement my comment with any answers. Ellie needs to go someplace and think about what she has done. I’ve been thinking about the name “Ellie Light.”
