Believe it or not this is an actual tv show- and pigs let these women into their places to clean it up and film it- NASTY!
Just NASTY! I am going crazy and won’t let anybody in my house because I can not properly clean it with the back issue and husband and daughter don’t do it right. I would torch the place before I let a tv show in to film it!
I am not sure if all fire departments have this program, but in LA the fire department will teach groups how to prepare and survive until help arrives. Sometimes due to conditions emergency equipment and personnel can not get to stranded people. It is a 1 day class and I had to take due to working for the railroad. They will come to neighborhood groups and give the class. It is very good information for people to have and it does stop a lot of panic and can help many people. You learn to have an emergency bag in your car and home, how to help injured with what you have at hand.

The first time I saw the US version of this show I was transfixed in front of the teevee. Apparently there are people who “live” like this – but it makes my skin crawl (and I don’t consider myself a neat freak!).
The series “The Hoarders” is another scary thing – the things that are found under the trash is remarkable – I mean remarkably sickening. Dead cats. Shit, literally.
There was one show of a food hoarder – who had year old pumpkins (soft, mildewed, rotten!) that she was still planning on using. And two year old yogurt that was still “ok, ’cause the containers haven’t burst yet”.
Out. Of. Her. Mind!
And the bathrooms! Creepy!
Shainzona- my sister is a super clean freak and she watches that show in horror! I am not neurotic about my house- but man- how is it these people aren’t dead with some horrible fungus or something?
Year old pumpkins??? Damn- we throw those things on the manure pile when they get soft- or feed em to the chickens- volunteer pumpkins every year! But not growing in my house!

Shainozona, I saw that food hoarder episode. I cleaned out my fridge with clorox and cidex after watching it.
I know a lot of people who lived through the depression and they do not hoard.
My ex spouse’s father is a hoarder. When his wife was alive, she kept everything in check. Whatever he would bring home got tossed when he went to work. Always collecting broken this or that because someday he might repair it. It is one of the worst things to be.
When my mother in law passed away: it took him a whopping 18 months to go for it. He had all of his utilities shut down, every square inch of space had boxes piled to the ceiling, he lost his home, he lost his vehicle.
My BIL had to go to the home 2000sq ft and take care of the problem. He lost his mind when my mother in law passed away. You just never know what will set someone off.
Hoarders….a good friend was one. Stacks and stacks of magazines all over his apartment, not a bookcase in sight, but somehow, it was clean. This guy was a high level exec for a power company and could easily have afforded a maid to come in and get things in order. I remember him vacuuming the “carpet” — a narrow path between the stacks. He’s still living at a retirement complex, where everything is squeaky clean and where hoarding is against the rules.
I remember my dad telling me that you need to have what you need which is not much. Everything else is cake because in the end, you can’t take the UHaul with you.

Actually Ayers never really claimed he wrote the book, although I wouldn’t be surprised. He said that to tweak the reporter and then told the reporter to go ahead and prove it now. Ayers pulled his chain but good because that same reporter keeps writing about it ad nauseum. It happened last year in an airport, I think. And the guy is making himself crazy over it.

When I lived in my first apartment, the neighbors down the hall, who were legally blind, would not clean their apartment. When It got bad they tamped down the trash and laid plywood over it. They were up to three layers, about two and a half feet high in all, before the landlord caught on and evicted them.
Roasted chicken skin is the best thing about the chicken. We roasted a pair yesterday. Chicken salad for lunch today and chicken soup for dinner tonight.
I put a medium sized onion inside the chicken cavity when I roast it. Never dry. Perfect every time.
DE I know for a fact that, like with me, no chicken carcass ever escapes your soup pot.
Swell, I stuff the chicken with sprigs or rosemary and crushed garlic and i put pats of butter underneath the skin.

People really do live that way! I know four people in my house right now that would live that way if they didn’t have me, LOL..
Those shows on hoarding are atrocious. There really are people with definite chemical imbalance/ mental health problems that cause that. My sympathies to them, to their families.
One good thing about those hoarding shows is that after a few episodes my family is scared straight into cleaning up after themselves. They suddenly feel motivated to pack things up for the goodwill, and to take out the garbage. It lasts for about a week and then I have to scare them again.
Swell I normally butcher the chicken and Angi roasts it on foil lined cookie sheets so all the skin is crispy and covered with seasoning. Angi eats some white meat I go for a leg and thigh then I eat all the other skin and debone the rest then we boil them bones.

I do the same thing. I buy them whole always. Never know where those parts came off of. The rest of the chicken could have had boils all over it for all I know. So I buy them whole and use my trusty wusthof cleaver. I generally make Renfield noises while doing it.

My daughter and I will eat the chicken breasts for the first meal, she eats the legs for lunch the next day, I use the thighs for chicken salad sandwhiches, and we both eat a wing over the sink before dinner. I give the gizzards to the cat, and make a dab of pate out of the liver for a snack. The shards and bones go for soup.
Proof positive that evolution is alive and well – some progress and some stay static… After all, it’s a choice.
