Think about this: The President wants to visit your place of work to talk about, among other things, creating jobs.
But you can’t be there. No No. Can’t have that. We will have to set it up so it’s a good photo op. So you common folks will have to stay home from work that day. But your boss and all the executives will be there with the President, so don’t you worry. Just stay home.
Without pay.
You don’t mind four days’ pay this week, do ya?
Construction workers at the Solyndra Plant in Fremont will be spending the day at home Wednesday without pay as President Obama visits the company to praise its work on solar panels.
Union workers have been told not to come back until Thursday because of security concerns associated with the President’s visit. Workers tell KRON 4’s Kate Thompson this day off means they won’t get paid.
“It’s with no pay and we have no choice,” construction worker Adam Bracamontes told Kate. “We have to take a day off and come back Thursday. We don’t get to meet the President. We’re the workers and we don’t get to see him.”
“I’m a little bummed because I would love to meet the President,” worker Rich Patten added. “We were told we had the day off so it is what it is.”
KRON 4’s Gabe Slate reports the President chose Solyndra because it received stimulus funds to help create green jobs.

"This is not culture. This is not custom. This is criminal."

Unbelievable. Barracus (thanks mcn!) is the kiss of death for all American workers. Whatever he does, its going to mean less pay for us all.
Take the day off without pay peasants and eat some cake while you’re at it.
Somebody bring Nero his fiddle and some Kobe beef and be quick about it.
ROFL Somebody! Glad to hear little somebody is well.
It took years of acting and elocution lessons, hundreds of hours of private tutoring, and months of grooming and dressing lesons to create the thing known as barack obama. But instead of a diamond, they turned out a crummy CrackerJacks-quality piece of glass.
Wanna bet it was Obama who forced them to stay home so they could not jeer at him during the tour?
I’d bet a $1000 bucks on it!
Um, the woman who ‘resigned’ ‘was fired’ was only there at MMS for ten months. So exactly how it this Bush’s fault again?
Oh heck there are most likely only a couple that mind. After all to most of California he is the savior.
Just heard, BP has started up top kill again. And new post up.
After this PR event, did That One tell the press how many jobs he would create there, as he did at Catepillar, Inc.?
Well, uppity – heard one of the talking heads say that Ms. Birnbam or whatever was actually head of the MMS during Bill Clinton’s term & was replaced I guess when bush won – somebody must’ve been owed a favor cuz the POS brought her back…………. oh oh – secrets
They said she was in that slot ten months. She must be one of those patronage jobs.
I googled her – sorry
Before her appointment, she was staff director for the Committee on House Administration, where she oversaw strategy development, budget management and staff activities for the committee that manages legislative branch agencies. From 2001-2007, she was Vice President for Government Affairs and General Counsel for American Rivers, where she directed advocacy programs for the nation’s leading river conservation organization.
At the Department of the Interior, Birnbaum was Associate Solicitor for Mineral Resources from 2000 to 2001, supervising and managing a staff of attorneys that provided legal advice, developed regulations and conducted litigation on minerals issues for the Minerals Management Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Office of Surface Mining and Reclamation.
In addition, she was a special assistant to the Interior Solicitor, from 1999 to 2000, overseeing legal policy on a range of natural resource issues, including mining law, public land management and hydropower licensing. From 1991 to 1999 she was counsel to the House Committee on Natural Resources, where she handled legislative and oversight activities for the Department of the Interior, U.S. Forest Service, and electric power marketing administrations. From 1987 to 1991 she was counsel for the Water Resources Program of the National Wildlife Federation.
Mostly – she’s been another one of the ‘career’ politicians suckin’ at the public trough – no story there -
Jeez – forgot to post most important part –
Birnbaum received her Juris Doctor from Harvard University in 1984 and her A.B. degree, magna cum laude, from Brown University in 1979. She was Editor in Chief of the Harvard Environmental Law Review, Vol. 8.
Ok well wait a second here. She was at the MMS in 2000. She was on the blah blah House committee 2001-2007, not on MMS. So where was she 2008-2010 and what was her title and was it the same title as the one she just left. They are saying she was in her current position ten months, which means OBAMA had to put her there.
Ok I found it. Susie, Birnbaum has been in charge of MMS since 2009. This means OBAMA Appointed her to this position, so where does he get off blaming Bush.

I think I read at another website that Obama DID appoint her.
Without pay? — that’s against the law in CA. In any event, it’s bleedin’unconscionable.
NES!
The LAW?
Since when did Oilslick care about the LAW?????
What I don;t understand is why did they pick on the Union Folks. Aren’t the Unions his BFF’s?
They might be glad they had the day off. Otherwise they might have had their apartment cased by a Census Worker –
(WARNING: YOU’VE GOT BE FUCKING KIDDING ME ALERT)
http://blogs.ajc.com/bob-barr-blog/2010/05/26/census-workers-can-enter-your-apartment-in-your-absence/
Well it’s good to know that one of those unscreened registered sex offenders can just let themselves in while you and your children are sleeping. And they wonder why people assault these people. I would love to see one of them enter my home when I’m gone and meet up with my dog. Cleanup, Aisle Six!!!
Makes my eyes bleed Uppity. WTF is wrong with this country?
Barack Obama and his entitlement Gen Yers is what’s wrong. But the joke’s on the whole lot of them, because they are going to be paying for this shit for the rest of their miserable lives and they will never get ahead. In ten years, they will all be screaming WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING!!!?
Hey – try and click on the Reuters link that reads “Cost Concerns threaten jobs bill in Congress” and see if it comes up
I know retired people who were called by their companies, they are begging them to come back to work for them because they pissants are just plain UNSERIOUS. They think they still get trophies for showing up and they think work is something you fit into your social life. That’s why many of them will be unemployed for a LIVING most of their lives. Or at least until they grow up.
FF blue dogs aren’t buying that bill. Many of them are up for reelection and they aren’t going to fall on any swords for Nancy. Link is 403. Obama must have complained.
Uppity I get a 403 Forbidden Error on all the Reuters links. All the others work fine
If you want to see it badly, you can always search for the title.
nah
UW,
I can tell you why the lazy punks are getting these jobs. They all learned how to interview more than they learned a work ethic. I’m a lousy interviewee. It took months where I worked to move up to engineer. Even after that, it took a while for people to understand just how versitile I was. When you’re a problem-solver, “accomplishments” are a completely different way of scoring value and that’s what HR types care about.
Rant over. As far as those union workers, I feel sorry for them. Like the Kool-Aid press, they’re not mad at Jackass, they’re just depressed they won’t get to bask in his glow.
I live about an hour from Freemont. A worker who was told to stay home called in to our local morning radio show and said he was told to stay home. Let’s hope in 2012 we tell Barry to “go” home! Barry hits new lows daily. Ugh!
John, do you freaking believe it? With an economy like this, workers are told to lose a day’s pay so the president can get a “green” photo op. this is just plain sick.
[...] any case, this marks the second time in less than a month, that I know of, that workers have been forced to take unpaid time off so [...]
