Well it’s official. Patrick Leahy, who sounds more like a resident of a nursing home than a vibrant senator, has opened the hearings. He invoked the W word. You know, “wimmin”. Democrats have to bring that up once in awhile so that they can imagine most women actually believe they give a rat’s ass about women or their “advancement”. Pat Leahy, you pig. I saw What You All Did to Hillary. We know you are all pigs so cut the crap. And like most dottering old men traveling down memory lane, you are talking too long. And you should really have that slurred voice checked out. Personally, I’m sick of you all.
I am now watching Orrin Hatch, yet another fossil who has been running my country into the ground for as long as I can remember. Of course, he has bad things to say because he’s in the Other useless party. The system works this way: If it belongs to the other useless side, it’s baaaaaad. If it belongs to my useless side, it’s gooooooooooood.
It won’t be long before they are wheeling Mr. Hatch and Mr. Leahy into the Halls for Important votes and once again, the world will be laughing at a country that allows people who should be long retired continuing to make a shambles out of Democracy for the sake of their long-running Sponsors. Only in monarchies do people in charge die of old age. Which brings us to what our country has really become.

The death of Sen. Robert Byrd (D., W.Va.) not only robs Senate Democrats of a vote to end Republican delaying tactics against the bill, it also throws in doubt the timing of the vote. Senate Democratic leaders had hoped to hold the final vote this week in order to send the bill to President Barack Obama’s desk before the two-week congressional July 4 recess.
Now, the vote could get pushed back

UW, I agree that she is not qualified. I also want to say that many male politicians; many dems, and some repubs, would rather not have women for co-workers. I think many a demo have no need for women unless they are playing the “victims” role. Same with minorities. This is why I like the conservative view of all people. If you are qualified and can do the job, you are hired! No affirmitive action or quotas!

As for Affirmative Action. exactly how much education and experience does a woman have to get before she’s half as good as a pig like Tony Scalia? And I can tell you I spent most of my life in corporate America, including in some pretty serious leadership postions and I met MANY men that most FEMALES would rather have not have had for coworkers. Exactly, how much of percentage of the population does a woman have to be in order to get more than 7 percent of the leadership roles? We are currently at 52% so you had better get used to it or you can all just bust your asses and do all the work by yourselves, which is impossible, considering most men in higher positions select women as their conduits to do all the work while they take all the credit. I wouldn’t call a woman being placed on the court as one of four in the whole court’s fucking history, affirmative action, considering we are 52% of the population. Nope. I would call it sexism of a congress and a white house that is dominated by men whose penises get all shrivelly in the presence of a woman who is clearly smarter than they are. Shame on you John. Rod Blagojevich’s former chief of staff John Harris took the stand for a fifth day today as prosecutors played more wiretaps of Harris and Blagojevich talking about their hunt for a new U.S. senator to replace Barack Obama.
One name that held particular attraction for the former governor was Oprah Winfrey. After Valerie Jarrett, a close pal of Obama, dropped out of consideration, Blagojevich said in one recording in early December 2008 that the successor had to be African-American and possibly someone with a military or law enforcement background. Among the names the governor threw out was Winfrey.

Bill Clinton nominated her for the circuit court back in the 90s but the Republicans held her nomination and wouldn’t let it come up for a vote. If they hadn’t done that, she would have had years of rulings to examine. And they did that, not because something was wrong with her, but because they opposed everything Bill Clinton did, pure partisan. So she’s qualified, more qualified than the man sitting in the WH (or on the golf course most likely) right now.

There’s extreme weather warnings for later tonight – thunder, lightening and lots of water – maybe some hail and a tornado thrown in for good measure. Fortunately, the tornadoes generally stay north of me. BTW, the temp dropped from 32 (that would be your 89.6) to 20 (71.6) in a matter of a half hour.
