If the UK serves as nothing else in this fight against barbarism, it serves as a warning of what happens when you let things go too far.
Muslim religious channel in Britain is being censored after allowing presenters on air to condone marital rape and violence toward women, and for calling women who wear perfume in mosques “prostitutes.”
The U.K. Daily Mail reports that in one program, the host told viewers that it was “not strange” and “not such a big problem” for a man to force his wife to have sex.
The U.K.’s T.V. watchdog, Ofcom, ruled the Islam Channel breached the broadcasting code in five different programs between May 2008 and October 2009.
In a program that aired in May 2008, Ofcom says the presenter clearly believes some physical violence is acceptable against women.
During the program, the presenter stated: “In Islam we have no right to hit the woman in a way that damages her eye or damages her tooth or damages her face or makes her ugly. Maximum what you can do, you can see the pen over here, in my hand, this kind of stick can be used just to make her feel that you are not happy with her,” U.K. Daily Mail reports.
Take your stick and stick it. You can bet SHE’s not happy with you either. Maybe one day she will kill you in your sleep. That would be nice.
In Islam we have no right to hit the woman in a way that damages her eye or damages her tooth or damages her face or makes her ugly.
In America, people go to jail for that. It’s called beat her up and don’t leave any obvious marks where they can be seen by the public. The UK and the USA are not Islam. Islam is not a country, it’s a religion. Slapping women around is the culture of the country these freaks came from. Subjugating women and slapping them around is not religious. It’s cultural. It’s who they are. In some crazy quarters of the Middle East, these MANMADE ideas thrive, so perhaps that is where these creatures should continue to dwell. Here, it’s against the law. And it’s going to STAY against the law. Apparently, it’s going to stay against the law in the UK too.
It’s about time the UK woke up for five minutes from their stupor. Let them serve as a terrible warning about the results of passivity and tolerance of intolerant barbarians.
As our forum member HT says (who is Canadian, where they banned Sharia Courts), “One Country, One Law”!!!!

"This is not culture. This is not custom. This is criminal."

It’s creepy and it’s creeping. It has to be stopped.
Actually, it is more than creepy, it’s criminal to the nth degree. But it is creeping in, disguised as something harmless and only a matter of religious freedom. Religious freedom, my second left foot.
HT, Canada banned Sharia, I believe.
Uppity, in 2005 there was an attempt to set up recognized Sharia courts here. The protests were quite vocal, and included the Muslim alliance – they didn’t want it either. One politician lost his bid to office, because he supported the option. Anyway, they were never allowed – one country, one law. That’s not to say that they aren’t working outside the law, however the attempt to get them recognized as a legitimate body failed and rightly so – one country one law. And frankly, if they don’t like that, why did they come here in the first place?
HT I had some great links to Canadian sites Anti Sharia. There was one really strong force of women, I remember. They didn’t stop and they are still vigilant. GOOD ON CANADA.
One good link about Sharia is beleive it or not, the Muslim Canadian Congress. As an example
myth: Sharia is divine law.
fact: If it was divine, there would only be one version of it. Instead there are almost as many versions as there are Muslim communities. Moreover, it has evolved over time. The Sharia laws were developed by men and owe more to their cultures than to the Quran.
myth: Muslims who oppose sharia courts are not good Muslims.
fact: Canada exists as a multicultural nation because its civil institutions are secular. This provides the common ground that all cultures can meet on. Not only does the Quran not endorse sharia courts, the whole notion of such courts violates the letter and the spirit of the Quran. Engaging in debates over who is the better Muslim simply avoids dealing with the issue of what exactly does the Quran say on the subject.
myth: Muslims who oppose sharia courts are defaming Islam.
fact: A better case can be made that those who present an outdated and discriminatory legal code as a religious obligation of Islam are in fact doing the defaming.
myth: Sharia Law respects women’s rights.
fact: Sharia Law gives women the rights that the men who developed it saw fit to give them. If applied correctly, it could be said to respect those rights, but as Dr. Kathryn Bullock of ISNA publicly admitted, no country has ever implemented it correctly. Moreover, the rights sharia gives women are neither the same as nor equivalent to those given to men. As such sharia is fundamentally incompatible with our Human Rights legislation.
myth: removing religious arbitrations is a violation of freedom
fact: Freedom of religion does not exempt anyone from the law. If it did, any crime could be committed under “freedom of religion”. As long as all religions, including no religion, are treated equally there is no violation.

That’s a great site, HT.
UW, I’m reading an earlier thread – BC meant birth certificate, I was saying I think those people who think the scandal is about the BC are mistaken, but maybe, as Riki Ott, said, there will be a scandal about the oil spill (or more accurately, the scandal will be exposed).
Anyway, sorry, I didn’t see your response, I had taken off for work!
Ack, sometimes I DON’T think the party “has something” on Obama and are holding it over his head to do what they want. At least, if they do, they must be like those bad parents who keep threatening and never follow through, because he sure is doing a lousy job.
He’s pleasing the corporatist masters, but the bots aren’t too happy with him (snicker, snicker).
And I think the Clintons probably know stuff, but I truly think if they had actual evidence, they would have brought it forward, or had someone else do it. Hillary really wanted to be president. My guess is she had knowledge, but no sufficient proof….
I’m glad the UK is censoring that channel – although that will at best just keep them from saying it on the public airwaves. They need to throw out Sharia law, and throw them all in jail for rape and DV. They want Sharia law, they can go back to their caves! And I agree that the UK is a good lesson for us, but boy, it took them a long time to start to wake up.
UW, why do I have a telephone pole coming out of my head, and did you put it there? lol
From an earlier thread: Buttered, on November 9, 2010 at 9:40 AM said: So Uppity, maybe women should go on a sex strike?
No sex until you vote Obama and his Obamacrats out!
So the idea is to refrain from sex with men until they shape up?
OK, I’m in. FF? noemptysuits? Senneth? We can be the “brave” ones to start the “no sex with men strike” hehehehehehe
What I want to know is, how am I going to go to bed with this telephone pole in my head? I’ll have to sleep with my head hanging over the foot of the bed! The cats will probably keep me up all night playing jumping games over the darn thing! lol
Fox is saying that Pelosi is going to throw a big party. You would think they would feel some guilt every time they frivilously spend our taxpayer money.
Lorac I’m in on the no sex with men strike too.
For me and HT, we like the old ones!
LOL DE you’re right!!!! lol You can start the strike with us!
I’ll keep all the scabs from crossing the line Lorac.
Fred and Ginger movies (except the two biography movies they did) always revolved around a case of mistaken identity. In this scene, Ginger and her friend are sitting down and Fred approaches. Ginger has never met her friend’s husband, and has been thinking that Fred is the husband. But when her friend keeps wanting them to meet and “get together”, it confuses Ginger, until she figures that if her friend doesn’t care, she won’t either. So they dance and fall in love.
Does that mean you’re going to enforce the no sex rule for the other Uppityites? Should be interesting, DE! lol
Awwwwww…. I never saw this one before – it’s a middle aged Ginger, dancing with Lucille Ball and her daughter…. from what Ginger says at the end, it sounds like Lucy was driving Ginger crazy as she did to people lol
….. and Lucy is really wearing short shorts!
Big of you. LOL!
Now if you toss me in with the four of you, I will be the only one not having sex.
Well…… maybe you should have some fun during the nosexwithmenstrike……
(I”m running!!!!!!!!!!)

Well, I feel that Fred and Ginger were classy, so tonight I
TRASHED WITH CLASS!
…..covering spousal unit’s eyes….
I always thought Fred was a phony dancer. Too contrived. And too full of himself, which struck me as odd because I thought he was fugly. Now Gene Kelly was a better dancer than he was. And better looking.
To wit:
Gene definitely was a stronger dancer – Fred was so thin, I can’t imagine what his legs looked like! Fred was supposed to be the fancy one, and when Gene came along later, he was the hip, everyday guy kind of dancer. Danced in casual attire. I like them both. Just have a special spot for the older ones. Although, after Fred stopped dancing with Ginger, I lost interest, because each new dancer was younger than the last one, whereas he kept getting OLDER. (they were also his love interest in the movies) Too weird for me. Oh, and when he danced with and romanced Audrey Hepburn, she the age of his granddaughter – yuk.
Did you ever see Leslie Caron (not a dancing role) with Cary Grant in Father Goose? She was a hoot lol (and of course, another February/November screen relationship!)
Yes I saw Father Goose. Caron was a real classy lady.
Fred ballroom danced. In a very studied way. Anybody can learn that. You learn the moves and you are home free. But what Gene did took major creativity and stamina.
Yes, I believe Gene choreographed his dances himself!
I think maybe imust went looking for Karen, and now they’re BOTH lost in the Bermuda triangle…..
Here’s proof they both have style lol
Gawd. Astaire was absolutely skeletal.
Isn’t he dead? I mean I think he was dead in that ad.
UW, the commercial was 1985, two years before his death – he would have been 86 when the commercial was shot.
I just read something that said he mandated that no film ever be done to cover his life, because he didn’t want to be misinterpreted or have his story “dramaticized”, as they always seem to do with biography movies….
oooooh you’re so mean to him UW lol poor old guy
Wow he lived for two years after that? He was absolutely cadaverous.
Gotta go to bed now. Nite.
Fine, just fine. YOU don’t have a telephone pole in your head, you’ll be able to sleep just fine! lol
Looks like Team Hillary Clinton has posted at least a 15 minute part of Hillary’s show
They’ve put “team Hillary Clinton” across the screen for the whole video, though
Well I think this one is appropriate for the wee hours of the morning. I vote for Donald O’Connor (with Gene & Debbie and a Good Morning to You). He looks a bit more lively than Fred.
We have a lot of English friends and they tell us they hate this. Their whole culture is being subverted, their rights are being quashed for pc-ness. The regular people don’t want it, just like here. How is this happening, and how are they getting away with it?
btw, love the new Dem Seal and the Header! Go MKB!!!
Two ways. Taking advantage of our laws and bending them to their benefit and threatening to kill anybody who gets in their way. Screaming “Racist” at the drop of a hat and demanding tolerance of their intolerance. That pretty much sums it up.
I’m glad the Republicans have one house. They are useful to woman for one thing and only one thing: Putting the skids on Islamofascism. But not for a patriotic reason. It’s just that Islam’s theocratic aspirations get in the way of THEIR theocratic aspirations.
UW went to bed an hour ago – this last comment must be by the guard dog!
Shut up lorac or you WILL meet my dog. Hey what’s that thing on your head? Looks like a telephone pole. Damn!!! How’d you get that?
I can’t sleep. Somebody hold me.
And clean this place up!
In America, you go to jail for that. This is not Islam. This is the USA. Islam is not a country, it’s a religion. Slapping women around is the culture of the country you came from. Here, it’s against the law. And it’s going to STAY against the law.
Hey, count me in fer shure, lorac. If UW joins our little cabal, she cab have ‘ribs.’
Geez, I’m always late to the party! Love the clips. For shear energy, Bob Fosse was the man, or maybe Tommy Rall. Both were brilliant.
[...] U.K….finally….goes after sexist Islamic TV. [...]
“Lawsuit filed in Okla. against Islamic law ban” the people voted and a judge is blocking this. So much for the will of the people.

Holy doodle, Liz, That’s quite an article. I’d need a lot more information before I commented on the seemingly asinine situation. This is exactly why Church and State should be totally separate. I.E. Keep your religious values to yourself, and leave the rest of us alone to live our lives as we see fit within the confines of secular law.
