100-Year-Old Twins: Showing Barack where to shove that End Of Life Counseling

Meet the 100-year old twins who appeared on Jay Leno. They are the oldest set of identical twins in the world.

I guess these little old drains on society must have opted-out of that End Of Life idea. Obviously, Out-Of-Sight-But-Not-Out-Of-The-Loop Health Insurer Lobbyist Tom “What We Can Do About The Health Care Crises” Daschle and Dr. “Ration” Emanuel are going to be incensed when they see this. They will  immediately advise the President that we need to cut Medicare even more. We can’t have these old people hanging around for a hundred years like this. It’s just too damned expensive, right?

Could you imagine if  we offered the option for anyone to take those premiums they shell out to insurance companies and PAY INTO medicare,  creating a STAMPEDE that would shore up medicare for decades, how horrible it would be to a lobbyist like Tom to see people living this long because they have good health care at a reasonable  and extremely large group rate? Gasp! Perish the thought! WhatEver would all those highly paid Insurance CEOs do for a living then once there’s an echo in their Single Pay sales department? Why that would mean jobs lost! Not that those jobs wouldn’t be immediately transferred to the Supplemental Policy Department, but nevermind.

Here they are meeting their favorite comedian, Carol Burnett. Let’s see, I guess she’s a candidate for End of Life Counseling too, right?

NOTE! The Carol Burnett scene with them was priceless. I thought this was it, but the part where she talks to them is cut off! I can’t find this clip anywhere that will allow cutting off the continuous play or auto play. If you find it, let me know! In the meantime, you can see the whole clip HERE but I can’t embed it.

  1. Bet those two women are smarter and have more common sense than the whole White House staff!
probably smarter than the entire population of some of our larger school districts too!

  2. Oh, that was fabulous – those women, especially the oldest one, walked so confidently. I can only hope to live such a long and healthy life.

Speaking of older women, have you heard of Alice Herz-Sommer and the movie that’s being made about her life, Alice, Dancing under the Gallows? Another amazing woman who just turned 107 at the end of November.

  3. Oh shit. The carol burnett scene was cut off. I have been trying ot find that damned clip anyhwere but AOL. AOL has it but you can’t cut off the auto play. DAMN. It’s not on youtube I don’t think. I found it in a bunch of places but I can’t cut off the auto play or continuous play to other videos! Hellp!!!!

  4. Uppity:

The woman we took to get her hair done and shopping is 98, and one of my favorite women to be around.

Her mind is as clear as a tack, her personality delightful and her dignity and respect for others – her appreciation of the smallest of things a joy to serve.

She epitomizes individuality, independence, grace, speaking her mind and commanding respect – a command of civility that leaves an impression that I can’t quite explain.

I respect her so much, she inspires me to be a better woman, a better human being.

She is one of several that, lately, I recognize as important matriarchal “mentors” in my life.

  5. WAaaaaaaaaaaWaaaaaaaaWaaaaaa

  6. endlessly entertaining.

  7. I go to lunch once a month with an old family friend who adored my mother. I mean I never remember not knowing and loving this woman. She’s 95 and let me tell YOU, she is GREAT to be around. Brilliant woman and funny as hell. Never complains, ever. Sharp as they come and has some great clothes. She gave up her driver’s license last year, not because she did anything harmful, but to put it her way, “Hey I don’t plan on dying in a car or taking anybody with me either”. Incidentally, she still doesn’t wear glasses either.

She thinks Barack is a total asshole. She calls him “Linguini” because he’s so skinny. Imagine how skinny he is in person, if he’s that skinny on TV, which adds pounds on you.

  8. Uppity: “Has some great clothes”

HA! So does she. My favorite is her black tailored slacks, white blouse, black ribbon “tie” and cashmere vested sweater with cashmere red blazer – black flats, of course. Vintage, timeless fashion.

  9. Unfortunately, all my elders have passed away, and I miss them. Mind you, my sisters are now the elders and they are a fun group. I hope they live as long as these two lovely ladies because the world needs ladies like these, whether they know it or not. My second oldest sister is a judge – I’ve seen her in action and she is a no bullsheite cut to the chase kinda person. She’s 67 and has no intention of retiring before her 70th. She’s funny as heck and such a wonderful caring person. We need to get back to revering our elderly. Such a wealth of knowledge and life experience that is going largely untapped.

  10. Wow HT! How wonderful.

Wish I had had sisters. I love my best friend’s sisters – all so different – being with them is like being in a script of Designing Women with a cameo appearance by Maude. lol!

  11. I didn’t get a chance to jump into the KO thread. I only saw him a couple of times – one of his last a couple of weeks ago. I’m not a junkie of whatever it is they are doing on those shows. I’ve never understood listening to political pundits of the punditized with records that speaks loudly for themselves?

  12. Must get ready for dinner.

  13. Her, I have three sisters and they are all amazing, although when I was young I thought they were horrible – the nature of family dynamics I suspect.
My oldest sister was the president of one of the largest sorrorities – involved in chartable causes and off shore assistant. Then my next oldest is the judge. The next to me was a politician at the local level – the honest type and I know cause I was involved in all her campaigns. She is also active in promoting honest politicians – at the local and provincial level.
I love and admire my sisters, and it’s amazing the number of strong motivated women with whom they have interacted and fortunately for me, who they have introduced me to (I know, bad grammar).

Funny, when I had my first child, I was ecstatic – a girl! I only pursued pregnancy for a second time because I wanted another girl (please don’t tell my son). Fortunately, my son is my girl’s best friend, and he’s been indoctrinated by me and my daughter into the feminist way of doing things. Hard for a heavy metal musician to absorb, but he knows he’s getting smacked stupid if he ever, ever gets out of line with women.

  14. Someone figure out how to suck out the genes of those two and mass clone them. I want to be a drain on society, with a working mind and body of course, forever.

  15. Beautiful story HT.

Ok. Oprah is to reveal a family secret that she is calling “the miracle of all miracles that rocked her to her core.”

    1) Her real biological father produced other famous children? (Kitty Kelly apparently revealed that O had a different biological father – that O didn’t even know about.)

    2) Could it be that the child she ‘had at 14 that was premature and died shortly after being born” and that she recently stated to Piers Morgan that she ‘wouldn’t be where she is, if she had had to raise the child’ was taken by her family to raise? (At 14, at that time, could her parental figures have made that decision?)

For some reason, my guess is # 2.

    Off to to eat dinner.

  16. her – does anyone really care about Oprah’s life these days. She’s a multi-billionaire – on the back of women I might add and yes she has given stuff away (subject to the taxman) but what exactly has she done to improve the lives of women on a day to day basis? And please don’t mention that school that she opened in Africa – it’s been plagued by scandal and allegations that she did not fulfill her funding commitments.

Have a great dinner. I’m pondering what to have now. Had some deviled eggs a few hours ago, and have pork chops defrosting.

  17. Uppity, love your medicare and insurance ideas.

  18. Brilliant woman and funny as hell.

Wisdom is a wonderful thing. Gawd, I’ll bet she saw through Barry in minutes. HAHAHAHAHA linguini, too funny. Is she also Italian?

  19. Perhaps Olby quit because his RX scripts would no longer be covered by BamCare?

  20. I think he’s been off his meds for a long time.

  21. Yes McN. She’s Italian.

  22. Perhaps he has a new script? A very expensive one that won’t be covered ever? lol

  23. She’s Italian.

Oh UW, you both must have a rip roaring lunch then.

  24. HT – Oh, it’s really none of my business. # 2 would be a real “miracle” all the way around. I don’t watch Oprah, unless she’s covering women and children abuse issues, then I will read up on it. I did read recently that she’s given away well over 300 million of the money she’s earned so far and plans on leaving every dime of her wealth to charity when she’s gone. Regardless of how much she earns, that’s a hell of a lot of money.

  25. Oprah never interested me at all and I could never get into all the hype about her, but then again – I was always at work when her shows were on and don’t watch TV anymore anyway. What pissed me off to no end was her injecting herself into the primaries in ’08 and pushing the halo on the head of a fraud who she called “THE ONE” with utter sincerity and conviction and not a hint of her realizing she was over the top in selling her latest product.

She was all about skin color and not character. She also went to the same UCC church, Wright’s, as bam-bam. She opened her big mouth for him and then he returned the favor by giving her Kennedy Center Honors this year. pay to play.

She (and Tedward and Caroline) helped him tons.
