    In my own experience (once again), my cat is not fearful of bumbles – he follows them around trying to get a sniff and to my dismay, he has killed a few, but that’s Zeke – funny, he doesn’t bother the honey bees.

    Last summer I had a knot hole in my split log house and wasps got in between the outer wood layer and the inner. They were large and black but thin and with some yellow on them. I also get carpenter bees. They drill perfectly round holes and when they are done laying their eggs they plug the hole with a waxy plug.

    I also get paper wasp nests and mud tube wasps that are both easy to get rid of with a hose since their hives just wash right away.

    I don’t use any pesticides of any kind and was really researching what to do to get rid of them since they wouldn’t let me on my deck and were constantly on my hummingbird feeders. I thought I might be able to make a portable hive and move them someplace far away.

    Anyway, the bats came in and took care of the problem. They got into where they were making a hive between the layers of wood and insulation and ate them all. I heard them come, they woke me up. The next day I banged on the inner wall and three bugs came flying out. The day before hundreds came out whenever I knocked the wall.

    I sealed the hole when they were all gone and they didn’t come back. Bats. Get some bats!

    Having been in high school in 1961, I can tell you that having a child out of wedlock was not an okay occurence. The girl was usually sent out of town and had to leave high school. If Stanley Ann was 17, it would have been a scandal. If she was 18 and he was in his mid 20′s, there would have been some attempt to quiet it up. So my guess is that there is more to come out about the story than just where he was born.

    Gram cracker I noticed the different birth years on all those papers too 34 and 36 and I think maybe one even had 39 on it. I noticed some were typed and some hand written so I assumed perhaps maybe it could be excused as typos. I don’t remember if the handwritten ones, presumably written by senior, differed.

    My, my what a busy schedule, clearly an appearance on Oprah holds far more gravitas than we thought.

    Personally I’d rather see his schedule filled with brush clearing at least then SOMETHING would get done.

    If I remember correctly, in his book “Dreams From My Father”, BO speculates about his grandparents reaction to Stanley Ann bringing BO Sr. home to dinner. He goes on about how they felt discomfort at his father’s blackness. BO’s parents flew to another Island in Feb. 1961 and married without family being present. Was this essentially a shotgun wedding so BO wouldn’t be a bastard?

Various addresses are given for his father, but it is stated that his wife lives with her parents.     So much for star crossed lovers brought together by the march across the bridge in Selma, AL in 1964.
