A great way to start the post religious holiday season: gearing up for 2012!
Back in 2007 I was not a Hillary supporter. She was a little too hawkish for me and I didn’t want to relive the insanity of CDS.
I told people I was an Edwards supporter but I was really hoping Al Gore would run again. But as the campaign heated up it was obvious who the only qualified candidate was.
It drives me nuts when Obots say “Hillary ran a bad campaign.”
She spent less money and got more votes than he did despite the fact the media and the Democratic establishment were supporting Obama. She won all the big states except Illinois and did it by large margins. She won the blue states and the swing states. Obama “won” the red states and the small caucus states.
If the primaries were “winner-take-all” then Hillary would have won in a cake walk. But the screwy “proportional” rules favored Obama – in Nevada she got more votes but he got more delegates. In California 241 delegates were awarded at the congressional district level and the remaining 129 were awarded to the statewide winner. Hillary won the state 51% – 43% but Obama got almost 70% of the district delegates (166) to Hillary’s 75. She also got the statewide delegates – otherwise he would have got more than she did.
Another thing – remember how the media was pimping polls showing Obama gaining or even leading before Super Duper Tuesday? They turned out to be inaccurate, but it was obvious they were using them (along with the timed release of endorsements) to give the impression that Obama was surging.
The fact was he peaked in January and then Clinton started coming back.

Oh man I had a memory flash back Mom. The incense used by my church would make me physically sick. I never understood why they picked such a horrible, sickening scent, especially at funerals. I remember when my bother actually nearly fainted at a funeral because we were sitting up front and he was always sensitive to strong perfume smells. Why are they so inconsiderate of others with that stuff?

LOL Uppity! I actually had one of the altar servers get up and close the door to the side lobby- the air was pushing to smoke right over us- kind of hard to sing when you are coughing and choking and tears are streaming from your eyes!

Into the voting booth went the “girls” – ticking off votes for Republican WOMEN before flipping the Dems the Bird and pushing “VOTE.” It’s in my self interest to bring these monopolies down and take the phony economic base of this “Country for Men Only” down with it. My gut tells me that the hordes of gigolos posing as the political class will collapse when the backs of legitimate working women are no longer the foundation of their authority. Meanwhile, in the big states that matter in the general, she was picking up steam, gaining momentum, in a word, winning, when the media came up with their WWTBQ campaign.

What a shame that incense is getting such a bad rap. I love frankincense when done right. I used to be the thurifer (the one swinging the pot) and there are some things you need to do to make it a pleasant experience.
1. There’s no substitute for buying the good stuff and not a blend (kind of like Scotch in that regard). I think most churches buy blends from cheap discount suppliers.
2. Clean out the thurible (also called a censor). The residue from the last high holiday is burnt and stale. You have to boil the thing until all of the old resin comes off easily. Good sacristans know this.
3. Start the charcoal outside. It has a smell of its own and not a pleasant one. Once you have the glowing ember, bring it inside and sprinkle in the resin.
Still, some folks are just dead against it. Once, I was carrying the thurible from the sacristy to another room with nothing inside it. Some early folks sitting in the pews started coughing when they saw it!
We probably paid for the grant someone got to do this research. Our tax dollars. I have signed every petition that is out there, and if more come, I will sign those too. I intend to write her in on my primary ballot. We all saw what happened. The scars are very deep. A friend saw HRC Christmas Eve and asked her if she would run in 2012. She laughed and said no several times. She knows we’re here, and I think she understands that she really doesn’t have to “run.” She knows we are running her.

About write-ins. Anyone who plans to write in hillary ever, MUST check with their election commission to determine where that vote will go if the writein person doesn’t win. In some states the votes go to the endorsed candidate of the party. So beware, there are tricks out there and I would LOVE the know the rules of EVERY state so I could post them.
Wouldn’t you just LOVE to see a couple of million write ins for Hillary in 2012, and have the count be enough to have defeated Barack Obama?

I have no idea. Can’t see how there can be a primary if there are no challengers. But every state is different as you know, and in some states, people can vote in any primary even if they aren’t in the party.

But Obama supporters filled out ballots and left. IT WAS AGAINST THE RULES. Obama got those delegates anyway.

This whole “shaved ice” obsession is another thing that bothers me. It’s his “Hawaiian” tie-in, that’s supposed to make him seem like just a regular guy! Gee, he likes shaved ice…he can’t be all bad!

Still, I would frequently make the long drive to the North Shore for shave ice at Matsumoto’s and it was good (really darn good) and as I was reading about it just before, I was wishing I could have it. Also, I’m certain mine wouldn’t cost the taxpayers millions of dollars.
hey, my ex husband’s interests never changed over time. When I met him his interests were in girls in their early 20s and hanging around getting the munchies. Fifteen years later his interests were exactly the same….unfortunately for me and our sons who depended on him.
Oh SophieCT, I hope you know, I meant no insult to you on the shaved ice issue. It’s as you said, the media hype of it that sets me off. It reminds me of George HW Bush’s comment that he liked “pork rinds” as a snack. Fake, and more fake. I’m so tired of all the manipulation.
Obama came to Scranton in 2008 and ate waffles at the Glider diner. I don’t care what time of day it is, if you go to the Glider diner you order the open faced hot roast beef sandwich with gravy on your fries. Yes it was the day he whined about not being left alone to eat his waffles. I am sure he learned to eat the right food at the right places after that. He probably has an advanced man who works just on what foods he should order in what city.

Whoa that is so cool that that kid Riley is already aware of the marketing and boxes we’re put into. Good for her! Lots of kids ask “why this” or “why that”, but it’s kind of reflexive and still in the data gathering stage. This Riley has already formulated an idea that the answer is not going to really make sense, that we’re being gipped, she’s developing critical thought already (about 30 years earlier than SOME other people!!!! lol) She’s gonna be somebody!!!!

I’m confused about his “wife order”. Was this the first wife? Because she was about 6 years OLDER than he was, having been his geometry teacher (and from the pictures I saw, the first wife was the only one “pretty enough to be the wife of a president” – such a terrible thing to say, as if Mr. Roly Poly “looks” like a president).
I believe this comment from Gingrich is regarding his first wife.
lorac, I think of Occupy the Primaries as refusing to go to the primaries and behave correctly. First of all we are not expected to show up since no one is running against Obama. So we would be showing up where we are not wanted. Then of course we would be breaking the social rules of good little democrats, refusing to fall in line even after being called mean names.
Now of course it may be that we have no way to register a protest vote with a write in, but I have confidence we can make our wishes known.
You know lorac, I did a tiny bit of research. The Hillary Speaks for Me site was dubbed a “playlist of videos”. WordPress does have the ability to have embedded videos in a playlist form. It may not be that hard to create such a site. You’re pretty experienced now…..just sayin

seriously, though, I think it’s something worth looking into! Was Hillary speaks for Me on its own website, do you remember? Or, wait…. it could be like a wordpress blog, but people would send in their videos for a blog master to add on, instead of people posting comments to a blog…?
It was a website (not blog per se) that allowed users/readers to upload video directly to the site. Like youtube I guess. I read about a plug in for wordpress that seemed to offer those options. So it could be a blog/playlist site that wouldn’t be exactly like Hillary Speaks for Me, but maybe close.
Maybe what is actually needed is an Obama Does Not Speak For Me site.

As for Mr. Shaved Ice, it doesn’t matter much to Hawaii. For the 1st time in 30 years, Democrats are about to lose hawaii in congress. They are NOT happy campers.
