I know you want this thread and I just can’t say no to you in spite of my own personal visceral reaction to these two horrific tickets. So here it is. I’m putting this up at midnight for those of you who are just so excited that you can’t sleep, imagining that if your candidate wins, life will get better. It will always get better. For Goldman Sachs.
.
Today you will get to pretend to pick which Pied Piper will lead you to the river in the next four years.
You will get to choose from The Chosen, with the option of Death By Drowning or Death By Fire.
You will choose one of two men who don’t give a rat’s ass about you and who will never give you so much as a fleeting thought once he and his friends take over or retain the oval office.
Some of you will vote 3rd party to make a point. The winner won’t give a shit. The extremists in his party will see his win as a mandate and badger his ass to do really weird and jaw-droppingly stupid mean things to innocent people, even if he only wins by ten votes. That is how convoluted the far left and far right really are. We are talking sick here, really sick parties that need to be placed into intensive mental health therapy–and not as an outpatient, either.
Tonight, some of you will actually imagine you “won”. You will hoot and holler and celebrate, only to find six months from today that you are soooooooooo royally fucked. Again.
But I know you want to talk about it, so I can’t be unkind to you today. But let me get serious for just a minute. You know the rules about personal attacks, threats and other bullying bullshit you have seen and been horrified to witness on the internets lately. Those of you who have continued to trust in my integrity throughout this mean and malicious campaign season – that wreaked of 2008 in reverse — already know we don’t do that here. This paragraph is not for you. However, those who decide to fly over this blog and stop for a nice insult to anybody here will get a steel-toed boot up your ass and I will give you to the rest of the commenters to rip your guts out. You know who you are and you’ve been warned. Everybody else, old and new, have at it, and try to have some fun–amd trust me to keep this place safe for you as I have always done without exception.
Truth is, nothing will improve so long as these two parties have the power to divide America in their own ideological ways, and we all know it. The only time they show interest in you is when they are tanking and don’t really have the power anyways. We’ve learned some lessons along the way and one of them is, we’ve got to make our own happiness and not depend on political whores to keep any promises made when they are pimping for votes. You just can’t throw shit on a plate and pretend it’s ice cream.
Hugs to you all, may the best POS win, and here are some links to the final “expert” predictions of the Presidential election. I myself am only concerned that there should be a split Congress so that neither of these two hijacked asshole parties can have full control of ruining America–something these two myopic, personally driven, vengeful and hateful extremist parties have taken chances apiece doing for a long time now. We have seen the results of that and it’s not good. So far, it looks as though I shall have my wish. If so, then there IS a God, because these people are just plain fucking sick.
Rasmussen Electoral College Scoreboard put together by and increaasingly Republican cheerleading pollster to the point of obvious.
Sabato’s Crystal Ball (always seems to play it straight)
Regardless of who wins, history tells us we will hear the following, as usual, for the next 4 years:
1. The winner cheated. (we learned in the past several elections that this will probably be true, but the real point is, he cheated better than the other guy cheated.
2. There will be an impeachment (of this president or the last president). It’s coming. (Heard every few months, rinse and repeat for four years). Yawn.
3. A big scandal is about to break (heard every few months, rinse and repeat)
I still personally do not know what I will do today — vote 3rd or just stay home. Rest assured I won’t have a third option. The rest of you have the same right — to do what you decide to do. It is your right and don’t ever sit still for anyone saying you are not a patriot (R bully) or you are a racist (D bully) or you should be ‘held responsible’ if you don’t do what someone else commands you to do. I saw enough of that on the internet this season and it just makes me puke, for there is nothing American about telling someone else who to vote for or not vote for. The good news is most of these professional bullies will disappear from your life and your ‘friendship’ after the election– just like in 2008. They will be done using you. For now.
Let the chips fall. We will endure. We are America. We endure. It’s what we do.
To the more realistic among us, I embrace you, because I am:

"This is not culture. This is not custom. This is criminal."
Hope you have fun today. We will be live-blogging the returns at TW tonight no matter how good, bad or ugly it gets and a couple of us have control of the ‘delete” key should it get ugly. Stop by if you wish and it’s BYOB or BYOW or whichever other mind-altering substance of your choice you wish to bring.
I guess I’ll be the designated driver. Right after I have two manhattans.
Seriously, I do hope everyone is all right after this. Half the country will lose the election tonight. But all of the country will have lost and that’s kind of sad.
They always say Politics and Religion can make enemies of friends. Well, Religion doesn’t make enemies here, even among us believers. We recognize crazy crackpots and meddlers when we see them, even among our own manmade religions. And they are all manmade doctrine. Politics is another story. I was trying to avoid that, and even avoiding it makes enemies. That is how ill our political system has become. every four years we get to watch not very nice people gloat and think they can control everybody else. It never happens and it never will. Americans are just too resistant to that. From what I’ve seen this year, there is absolute proof positive that both sides are carried by vicious nasty threatening people, both in DC and among us all. They have carried the rest of us with them for far too many election seasons. Hopefully tonight, one party will be crushed and forced to rethink what assholes they are. Boo Hoo. Next will be the crushing of the winning party that will surely overstep its boundaries regularly during the next four years. Only then will America heal instead of heel.
Whatever happens tonight, we’ll get up in the morning and do what we always do. That’s for sure. I want to spend more time blogging better things in the future. These politicians just aren’t worth it.
And I do wish they would pout Daylight Savings Time on referendum. Let there be light for those who leave their mundane jobs at the end of the workday. Seasonal Affective Disorder is attached to the falling back of the clock and there is a cure.
Great post, Uppity. Sums up our real situation perfectly. No matter what happens, we lose, but I’m going to the polls anyway to vote for my DEM Senator and take care of local issues. Tomorrow, nothing will have changed. We’re screwed.
I notice your Muppet clip didn’t include Big Bird. Bwaaaaaaahahahaha.
Hugo, I might have to drag my ass to the booth to vote for a few local people but they too aren’t going to make a difference. Both teams, Red and Blue, make the newspapers every now and then in handcuffs for embezzling our taxpayer dollars and for being white collar criminals.
Suits going to jail has a smack of satisfaction to it. Their smug faces as they park their mercedez benz for the last time at their chrome and glistening glass office door is a great mug shot to remember.
The local wimmen have been been rounded up as well as the local men. When I first moved here they had to arrest about 30 politicians and their associates in this region and it took two pages of the newspaper to put their pics up. It looked like a high class drug bust!
Oh and, for the record, Mozart Rocks imho, too.
I have to work tonight. When the exit polls come through around 5pm they will let you all know who the new or old dear leader will be. Then the networks start their racket about how it is clear who is going to win – before half the country even gets a chance to vote, and then of course, places like Ohio and Florida are going to have stuffed machines and stuffed absentee boxes, and stuffed mail bags disappeared – just like always happens. The military mail, mostly for McCain, was lost till after they crowned the fraud. The diebold machines spit out higher numbers than the registered voters in some counties. The absentee voters have 50 people at the same tiny apartment listed. Nothing to see there, move along.
My guess, TPTB will stay in place. It is hard to remove an existing pile of crap from office. Bush got a second term despite his obvious need to get the F out of DC on a fast train. I don’t care. Obama will return to the golf course and the lobster fests and we can all eat cake.

He used his middle finger? Seriously? Jayyyyyyyyyyyysusssssss, what a POS.
Good Morning friends.

I just got a call from.Another loyal HRC supporter.
She had just voted.I asked did you wait long? She said 4 long years.
She is taking Obama’s advice voting Revenge.
REMEMBER MAY 31, 2008!!
I WILL NEVER FORGET!!
Uppity:
Another great post and you’re right; whoever wins we loose.
Luv the Muppet’s show.
foxylad:
You’re voting Revenge? how does that work?
I’m an FDR and Hillary democrat and I’m voting Jill Stein/Green Party.
I’m voting my conscience and voting for a woman for a change.
Hillary would have been ready in day 1 but even after 4 years of on the job training Ozero still isn’t ready to be POTUS.
Hillary would be skating to an easy second term right now.
It’s true, those “New” democrats blew it and wouldn’t be hanging by their fingernails today if they had given the candidacy to the actual primary winner without stealing delegates and bribing, threatening and blackmailing superdelegates that nobody picked out but politicians in the party.
RRRRRRRRROFL! I just saw a tweet from an Obamaziod posting an 800 number to get help from lawyers if you suffer “Voter Intimidation” today.
You mean like if a bunch of Black Panthers stand out in front of the polls with billy clubs like they did in 2008? Nah I didn’t think so.
Amen Upps Amen!!!!
We all watched in Horror and Shame as the once great Democratic party died right before our shocked eyes. :shock)
Those Black Panthers are back. but not to worry the Seals are going in.
I of all people just got a call from preezy begging for my vote.
Did Chris Matthews and Sean Hannity call the election for Obama and Romney respectively yet?

Me?
I’m just gonna build a bigger fucking boat. And then continue to circle Uppity Island, docking from time to time for the much needed sustenance that her loyal citizens always generously provide.
(My own semi-unscientific prediction says that the Naked Emperor shall retain his Porcelain Throne by something like…304-234.)
But, just think, only 4 more years until maybe we’ll get the chance to vote a true Democrat back to the White House. Maybe. Sigh.

Heading for work soon and will not be back till the final deed is decided by the powers that be. They bought and paid for their puppets and for them to lie cheat and steal this country square and fair and fair and square. Hail, hail rock and roll and the hell with Red and Blue bullchit.
foxi, we’ve still got her back – and proud of it.
Hello Uppityites! I don’t care who you vote for or whether you vote or not, whatever you decide to do it’s your decision to make. We are, after all, a free country…….at least the last time I checked.
FYI Uppity, last night in Des Moines, Jay-Z performed “99 Problems”. He replaced bi**h with Mitt. Yep, full circle.
UW, you said it well! G/S and the Fed Res are the trifecta of doom for our nation. Living in Cali, my conservative is not heard in D.C. I voted for Tom Hoefling of the American Independent party. I do hope for a Mitt win, and I hope the 18 million women who were kicked in the teeth by the DNC, who passed over Hillary, give him the win. I know there is a lot to dislike about Mitt if you are from the center to left, but anyone buttt Obama sounds good to me.
Reblogged this on theconservativehillbilly.
Unfortunately Hillbilly, I won’t be one of those women voting for him. Paul Ryan was a definite deal breaker for me.
Somebody, somebody post a link to that 99 thing upthread I think.
Rev Vet, can I have a spot on your boat? I won’t take up much room.
As you know, my prediction is the same as yours. Feh. As the saying goes, six of one, half dozen of another.
Gotta run and vote. There are some cockroaches downticket that I need to disposition.
I never let the VP worry me. Bottom line, unless we get rid of the ties with G/S, America is in deep doo-doo!
Well he wouldn’t worry you. You have a penis.
FYI everyone, the stories about cheating are on their way, can you say deja vu.
Reports on twitter that Black Panthers are up to their threatening tricks in PA again. Nah. Can’t be. They were told to stay away from the polls…until…until 2012. Convenient.
Also saw a video of a guy as he was voting, where pressing Obama made Romney light up. He took the vid right while he was voting and tried several times to vote Obama and Romney got checked off and lit up. Forget where it was. I saw the video but it was presented by somebody who calls himself a radio show host and looked about 13 years old.
Except when the swimin’ hole is muy freo! Then it hides like a scared turtle:)
I searched my conscience and voted for Mitt. Yes I could have wished for a better VP but it is what it is and being one of the numbers to go against Obama/ Biden means more to me as does going for drilling and getting the economy fixed. Another 4 years of Obama is just more then I can take. In this persons mind women’s issues will not matter after 4 more years of this regime. We will be in our garb and serving our masters. I think we stand a better chance under Romney. You are free to disagree and I know you do but wasting a vote for third party just is not for me. It is a vote against Mitt and for Obama. One day maybe a third party will give us a viable candidate that can actually win. But even if you get a third party winner what then we still have the two party houses.
Well we can hope that if the d.s cheat 10 times and the pubs cheat 10 times they cancel each other out.
Uppity, I agree with you and Lambert. I don’t trust Obama on Social Security nor do I trust him with my scary ladyparts. I, too, voted Dr. Jill Stein, then D down-ticket to ensure that the Tea Party extremists don’t get control of NYS.
I do think that I will be relieved if Romney + Ryan do not win, but I won’t be happy. Obama is who he is, not a true D in any sense of the word. The best I can hope for is that he will stave off disaster long enough for Hillary to come in and fix everything in 2016.
Perhaps they are worried that some awful person will offer up a “bless you” or “gesundheit” if they sneeze. By their measure perhaps the first represents religious oppression while the other insinuates that Obamacare will not be good for one’s health.
“May the best POS win.”
That’s about it, y’all, in a nutshell.
Obama’s screwing up so badly that even my politically-led-by-his-momma hubby refuses to vote for him again. If that clown has managed to turn my husband off, then he really has screwed up, hugely.
Happy return (or in smarter homes, rerun) watching!
I voted for Stein. God help me, I am not even green. I mean I have an attic full of incandescent bulbs in anticipation of the Mercury Lighting Is Good Law.
Me too, MB. But we live in blue states. I too will be relieved when R/R lose, even though, (yes foxi) I do remember 5/31. But revenge voting doesn’t do it for me when I think about the possibility of 6 or even 7 right wing freaks against 3 or 4 libs sitting on the Supreme Court. I can’t even wrap my head around how so many supposed liberals, especially g a y liberals, and especially liberal women, think that won’t be a problem for them. But I’ve come to a lot of conclusions this year, one is that obviously a lot of people on the internet lie about who they are, and secondly, after observing the political races this year, I understand why I’ve been a liberal since I was in 6th grade, although I grew up in an upper middle class republican household. There are a lot of kind, generous, patriotic, liberty-loving republican citizens. I’ve met many of them, and thats what my family was like growing up. But there is nothing kind or generous, or liberty-loving about todays republican politicians and their policies, and after what I’ve seen from this years crop (and hell yes, I include Romney and the even more horrible Ryan in this camp); and how I’ve seen what the republican presidencies of my lifetime have done to this country and its citizens with their phony wars and restriction of human rights and their pure favoritism of the wealthy class, I will never vote for a Republican again. Not only would Romney/Ryan take us right back to the Bush years, I believe they would be even worse. Bush and Cheney are mass murderers that started wars on false premises so their base could get even more filthy rich than they already were, and then cut their taxes to boot. I think that not only would RR start new and/or amp up the old wars, and give more tax cuts to the wealthy, they would be the ones to start rolling back the human rights that we have all fought for, a n d to butcher our retirement programs, that they call “entitlements” that we have all paid into all our lives. I’ll be damned before I vote for any of that shit.
I actually find a lot to like about the Greens, but of course, I grew up in So Cal!
Here’s a map that will show you the states as they go, in real time. You will need to reload the page for updates. First poll closings in the East will occur in 15 minutes.
http://www.electoral-vote.com/
How about some volunteers to watch the networks and cable channels. Pick one.
And if you find a better real-time map to show results, please post it.
Some lunatic at a chicken processing plant in central Calif shot 8 people and then himself. Two others have died so far.
Another vote for Stein here… I’m turning off the radio & TV, going into hibernation now!
lol val.
Why don’t these psychos just shoot themselves first.
What if nobody gets 270?
Answer: Senate picks the president.
I swear, if I knew Obama was going to lose, I would tune in to MSNBC and watch Chrissy’s head blow off. If I knew Romney was going to lose, I would tune in to Hannity and watch him stroke out.
Cruel, I know.
What I especially like about the Greens is that they are pro-consumer. We are all constantly ripped off by corporations. Three years ago I bought a new washer & dryer, 2 new tvs and one xbox3, all at Best Buy. They are all either completely or somewhat malfunctioning, the washing machine within the first 30 days, and when I tried to take it back, the guy told me I couldn’t becuz I hadn’t purchased the xtra warranty. I found out later he was a liar, but then it was too late to return it. It broke down 3x in the first 6 months. I would have sued Best Buy over it if I wasn’t taking care of my Dad during his last year (Alzheimers), and hubbie (foot surgery). There are no more Mom&Pop type appliance places here anymore, although I will go without before I buy anything at Best Buy again.
Upps, you’re so funny.
Romney kicking Obama’s ass in Kentucky. Like 2 to 1.
SC and GA polls closed now. Chrissy would say Obama will get roundly bashed in both places because White People. lol.
Does anyone have any idea how to stop the robocalls? I’m getting around 10 a day now. They hang up on you if you ask for the name of the business or the supervisor. I got one today from Diane Carpet Care & I looked it up online and there have been complaints about this since 2008! I am so sick of spam and robocalls.
Early lead in SC, VA and FLA for Obama. Very early. Could change fast.
Romney not lead in FLA and VA.
Huge lines in Miami still. What the hell is wrong with Florida? I voted two or three weeks ago. Dang, this country needs massive vote reform.
Have fingers crossed for prop 37.
Most excellent post, Uppity. I too voted Stein. She’s a write-in candidate in CT.
I am most interested in Prop 37 this election.
Not unexpectedly, Bernie Sanders won in VT.
MB put this up on her blog, and its so funny, I wanted to share it:
Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, said that the Party’s message of “zero tolerance toward disaster relief combined with a more easygoing attitude about rape” would lead the Party to victory on Election Day.
“Our argument couldn’t be simpler: when God wants to create a hurricane or make a woman pregnant, big government should get out of the way,” he said.”
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2012/11/the-republicans-closing-argument.html#entry-more
Yes Prop 37 is huge, will resound throughout other states Monsanto spent 36 million to stop it and support waned in the past few weeks.
Looks like the senate will go to D’s again an House to R’s. Good. This time I am loving the thought of checks and balances in a huge way.
Florida is very close.Toggling between O and R in lead. Now it’s O again.
Ohio too close to call.
Romney takes GA, because white people. lol.
Easygoing on rape. Nice of him. May he get raped with a broom. Sideways. Then maybe he won’t feel so ‘easygoing’ about it when he’s mentally fucked up. And hey, if a hurricane kills a bunch of people, so what, so long as it’s not a hurricane near HIM.
Nice to know God causes rape too.
I think the No on 37 corporations spent over 45 million all told. We were bombarded with their crappy lying commercials. I’ll be so disappointed if they win, but we’ll just have to gear up and take them on again.
Upps, it was Andy Borowitz. He was being sarcastic.
CNN calle my state for the empty suit. That’s why I left that part of my ballot empty today. Empty suit, empty chair, empty box on the ballot.
Okay all the dead people in Ill voted and Obama won.

Add GA, SC and OK to Romney wins
UW, She spent almost 50 million of her own money on this race. And about that much last race against Bloomenthal.
If Prop 37 loses, Monsanto officially owns America’s food supply and what people ingest along with it.
LOL Utah, the last time you voted for a Democrat, I kicked the slats off my cradle.
In 30 minutes, lots of things will light up on electoral map.
Sophie, are you talking about the woman running for senate in CT?
I can’t believe how FLA is toggling, it’s like every five minutes it switches. Wierd.
I don’t like Howard Fineman, but I like this line from an article he up today:
“Today, Election Day, marks the end of the most expensive, least informative, least inspiring presidential election since TV took over politics in the Kennedy-Nixon race of 1960.”
So true.
Rape Is A Blessing Mourdock in IL is losing. Boo Effing Hoo.
Here come the bullshit exit polls. I won’t waste time. After Wisconsin recall, everybody knows these people are full of shit.
Upps, I know. They really call these things too ridiculously early. Whats the rush?
I’m so glad that creep is losing. Hope the other tp ilk get crushed also.
socal at 8:32, Yes.
Okay I know it’s huffblow but I found a REAL realtime electoral map that updates all by itself every 30 seconds.
http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/2012/results
Wow FLA is amazingly close. Close enough so that “Other” votes might tank somebody. I hope so.
Congrats, NY. Sen Gillibrand is still your Senator!
Uppity Woman, on November 6, 2012 at 8:29 PM said:
Ahhh but not true dear Uppity. I screwed up big time and voted for that pond scum Reid to stop Yucca mountain and I voted for ( gulp hate to admit it) Kerry to oust Bush.
Yea I was twisted. I am sorry but Democrats just most often do not represent my beliefs. There are times I hear one I can get behind. But social issues always take a back seat to me when it comes to turning this country into another Europe. We came here to get away from that and it seems folks forget it. Social issues take a back seat when it comes to me being able to earn a living and fuel my vehicle. Fact is to my way of thinking we now have more people wanting stuff rather then freedom and that is why we have turned into a big Nanny state. That is why every time I turn around I am being raped in my pay check. I am sick of having to support every fricking thing and then borrowing money from a country that is killing us to pay for more stuff.
In 30 minutes, lots of things will light up on electoral map.
Don’t know where that 30 second thing came from I did not do it.
Another 4 years of Obama just totally sickens me and I do not know how I will survive it. Alaska is looking damn good so I can get the hell out and hide.
Fox is projecting Wisconsin for Obama.
That’s Ryan’s state isn’ it? I wonder what part women played. A big one I hope. Would serve Rape Is A Gift From God Ryan right.
It updates by itself Utah.
Jaysus, Utah, one time you voted D and you voted for Harry?
Bahahahahaha!
Yeah Gillibrand was a shoo in.
On that map, hover over FLA and see how OTHER makes a difference.
Yes, it’s Ryan’s. And that ass Scott Walker. Glad to see the repubs lose that state.
Warren took the naked centerfold out.
I’m getting differing results on WIS.
Yea see . I mean I lived in the back yard of that toxic dump and the bastard never did a thing once he got in. Yucca is alive and well and going to kill a lot of people. Hope it is a bunch of his family too. Damned glad that Kerry lost too. I think I was highly menopausal at the time I cast these votes. Yea that’s it I had a bad hormone imbalance. I told you I was twisted. This country is a sick puppy when folks are willing to allow Monsanto, China and other things to control them. Me ? I think I am going to find a hole to crawl in and wait for the bomb from Iran.
CBS also projected WI for o.
Don’t know why they aren’t calling Virginia and NC for Romney. No way he’s going to lose them. The majority of precincts are in.
Senator Warren. That makes me so happy!
Some urban areas of VA are not counted and they lean toward o.
CBS projected NH for o.
49.7 O
49.5 R
With 85% in ….Florida.
“Other” is 0.09%
It’s Make A Difference Day.
Todd Akin now has plenty of free time to go get fucked in a dark alley. Repeatedly until he loses his mind and is simpering in a corner, suffering immesurably from shame, and house-bound for the rest of his miserable life with fear of his next rape.
Ditto for Mourdock.
Yup, MO shut that thing down. BuhBuy Akin.
Hilarious!
I keep thinking about Warren and Brown. The brainy wonk beat the jock.
Yes I do see how the ” others” made a difference. They will give it to Obama
marijuana is winning tonight, mostly:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/06/marijuana-legalization-results_n_2074168.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000003
On Akin was there any doubt his mouth shooting off like that was going to cost him ? I was happy to see it. The pubs I hope are getting a message. Far right does not a good candidate make. However this tax and spend shit is way out of line too and I am dumbfounded as to how many folks see it as the way out. Guess having a budget and balancing check books is a thing long gone and you just charge and fail to pay is the new way. Bet that once the USA is upside down they will regret it.
MoJo says Tammy Duck worth won over Joe Walsh.
WaPo calls PA for o.
Joe walsh wiped himself out when he complained that real heroes don’t talk about being heroes, when speaking of an war-amputee opponent.
Obama will most likely take Florida because of the million or so absentee ballots from Miami and Broward. These are Democratic strongholds.
LOL. Al Gore calls Fla for BO:
Guess Gore is an expert on Florida elections.
Al Gore is nothing but a big bloated balloon filled with his own greenhouse gasses and someone needs to poke him with a pin and let him fly away into his own damaged ozone.
Only in America does John Dean (of Nixon Watergate fame) retweet Al Gore!
Utah, he made $400 million pimping his hot gasses. Of course, he’s a lot quieter these days, isn’t he? But who is the joke on?
Hell I called Florida for BO before him. Where’s my 400 million?
Utah will be hunting out back land in Alaska. I swear this country really sucks goats or soon will.
Going to rip out my cable because I refuse REFUSE to watch his smirking ass another 4 years !!
Now all I can hope is the pubs go after his ass for Benghazi.
I love you all very much you know that. But most of you were never objective about this race and followed a brass band that wasn’t a parade. You called what was going to happen based on your wishes and heartfelt desires. It reminded me of 2008 when we all pretended McCain had a chance right up to the end. My heart breaks for you, I mean this, but I knew this would happen. In my own dumb way I tried to save you from it but I failed. Miserably. I apologize for that failure on my part. Please, those of you who are despondent, please remember that We Endure. It’s What We Do. Tomorrow you will get up and nothing will have changed anyways, regardless of who won. SO please do not let this depress you. There are so many things that are more important than politics. Believe me I know this, as I struggle with a health issue and still do not know the outcome. This has awakened me to what’s important. Maybe I needed that, to remember what’s really important. And this isn’t it.
Sophie I thought Martin Sheen was John Dean.
Thanks! You guys are helping me keep my sanity!!
You are welcome.
Don’t hold your breath Utah. They all have too many dangerous skeletons in their closets to start messing with Chicago.
prayers to you Uppity! I didn’t know,
I ended up voting. I thought it would be the first election of my adult life when I didn’t even bother to vote but I decided to vote for the guy in the “peace” shirt who is for legalizing marijuana. It was my protest vote.
I agree with him on just about every subject and knew he was the candidate for me even before we all took that candidate match quiz.
I also voted for mostly wimmenz and no incumbents in the down ticket.
Romney says he does not concede Ohio. Not sure why it matters. Won’t put him over. Hey maybe you will all wake up tomorrow to a Dewey thing.
Upps, Dewey or Truman would be a God send. As long as it isn’t Barack or Mitt.
This is bad for our country. 16 years of bad leaders. What next, bread and circuses?
It is obama. I said so this morning up thread. Not surprised at all.
Hell I called it month’s ago. I will be collecting some money. I kind of feel guilty about that. Guess I won’t take it. Later, after I collect my thoughts, I will tell you why I saw this coming.
That is if it’s not Dewey and Truman.
CBS giving Clinton much credit for the Obama win and saying o better thank him. I hope he goes to the golf course for the next 4 years and let’s Bill run the country again. Takes a Clinton to clean up a Bush/Obama mess.
Uppity I wish you the very best outcome with your health issue.
This blog will be moving away by degrees from politics after tonight. We will cover what we must as a normal course of things, but I aim to have a whole lot more fun that I’ve had this election season. I hope you will all come along.
I’ll be around. We laugh at life here and that is what we need more than anything else. Others who find humor in the darkest political times. We’ve had them before in this country, Vietnam was harder than obama to go through. I’d rather have 4 more years of obama than 4 more years of Nixon and Nam – most likely… but then again – gulp – he is going to pick Kerry as his SoS I bet.
Night all. We will still be America in the morning. Nothing changes that.
Upps, I’ll be here. {{{Hugs}}}
Good. Thank you.
Nah, he’ll ditch kerry again. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
okay there is an upside. Rush Limbaugh is probably stroking out.
I’ll still be here
Hugo @ 10:45pm: ROFLLLL!
This race could still get interesting.
Good, I’d hate to be writing to myself. lol.
Ok another upside. This clears it for Hillary 2016. She won’t be running against an incumbent.
Upps, agree! Thought it would be harder for her with an incumbent.
Romney not conceding.
A Wash state marijuana law is passing.
Well socal, that’s if we have a country left.
Prop 37?
http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/politics/Proposition-Prop-37-LA-California-Election-Genetically-Modified-Foods-GMO-177587011.html
Yes, not looking good so far. Bummer.
Not looking good for Prop 37: http://vote.sos.ca.gov/returns/ballot-measures/
That’s with 17% of precincts reporting–no idea if they counted the Bay Area yet.
Romney to speak.
Krauti just saying republicans need to rethink hispanics. But not anything else. Good like with that Krautie. You and the pope.
He’s saying Romney wasn’t conservative enough. Yeah so Obama won because he’s more conservative. All righty.
Romney has conceded Will speak now.
Upps, ROFLLL!
I’ve always thought krauti was really off kilter.
He’s making his very best speech ever. I hope his party listens to him. This constant blocking and partisanship without even an attempt at consensus and compromise is killing America. They need to stop with the social shit and get down to the business of what they are supposed to be doing.
Good for you, Mitt.
Huffpo headline about Tammy D beating Joe Walsh:
Teaparty Deadbeat Voted Out.
It was a good night for women. Hopefully for the Supreme Court.
His lives his life in agony, socal, but he takes care of himself without a hint of self pity. For that, I admire him.
Yes I believe the Supreme Court was a big part of the outcome. The Corporations Are People ruling really rubbed people wrong. and Citizens United got a dose. Boy they must be twitching.
Tonight was 2010 for Republicans. Both sides having been sent a message, you would think they would Get It.
Joe the Golfer went over 300 in electoral votes and he just passed mitt in popular vote.
Obama to speak. Put your fingers in your ears. Cover your eyes. You just know he’s going to be an asshole.
D’s gained 3 senate seats.
My girl Gillibrand coasted.
I have hopes for her in future.
Upps, good points. I think people are disgusted by the obscene amounts of money wasted on this tomfoolery. Billions. What a bloody waste.
Am glad for KGill and the other women in the senate.
Aw God, he’s so Effing boring. I’m going to bed.
Well, it’s over. That was just about the most unsurprising election result in my recent memory. It looks like the margin of victory will be slightly more than I predicted, but the result was never in any doubt. So, the Chosen One has been Re-Chosen. Somehow I bet that ends up on his business cards once he retires and starts writing books and giving speeches to inspire the whole planet with his Historic self.
Meanwhile, the Congress remains split. Which means…1) the two sides of the same coin will finally realize it’s time to start working together, or…2) they will continue to fight, and whine, and remain stagnant.
Sadly, I think that Number 2 (pun intended) is almost as sure a thing as was the result tonight.
But, most importantly, Uppity Woman will still be here! We will all still be here. We will endure. We will continue to love our country and fight for its better future. It is what we do. And as long as Uppity leaves a light on, I will be here.
P.S. But of course, Upps, you can jump aboard that boat anytime! You just chart the course, and I’ll always do my very best to help to steer the proper mark.
(((Uppity))) <—— That is for, well, because…just because.
Hey Upps, you were right, as usual! Did we bet?
Disgusted with half the country. Done with politics for a bit — off on a hiatus. Catch you later. XO
Stupidest post-election article yet:
http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2012/11/07/maggie_hassan_ann_mclane_kuster_and_carol_shea_porter_win_new_hampshire.html
On women sweeping New Hampshire and now being entirely represented by women:
Idgit.
I suspect that writer was stretching the satire muscles.
Truth is, feminism exists because this is exactly what women have had to listen to day in and day out. Then they dare to call them militant besides. Oppression and constant insults bring rebellion, even if it is slow but sure. People just don’t want to understand that. If my assessment is right, it is that ever-growing attitude, both overt and subtle, that brought us Obama2 last night. Just ask Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock, if you don’t believe. Enough is enough. A significant number of women (and the honest men who were REALLY on the side of their rights as human beings) fought back with their votes. This went way beyond Obamazoids. Way beyond. They understood that Obama did nothing for them, even if they didn’t admit it. They know he’s not ‘what a feminist looks like,” but he’s the Pig they Know and they knew he didn’t help them but he didn’t hurt them as much as he could have. That is what scared them more — not what Obama didn’t do FOR them, but what Ryan would do TO them. Women in Corporate America recognize this feeling of impending danger to them. Poo Pooing the importance of the Ryan selection was not only short-sighted, but stupid. And rude and inconsiderate. Not to mention just plain mean. It was a “Fuck You” to far too many women, not only by Ryan but by men who pretended far too long they were supportive of women and then marginalized them over this horrid and dangerous VP pick and the trail of meddling, mean zealot scum who follow him. You can’t just blow people off and marginalize what hurts them forever before they rebel. The boys in the band in DC on both sides had better take notice, and they had best take notice that freaks in state legislators hurt them most of all. Let’s just say it trickled Up. People may not like what I am saying here, but it’s the truth nonetheless: There is nothing more important than your equal rights as a human being. When others refuse to see that because it’s not THEIR rights that are threatened, you get Obama2. Especially when you fear that zealots will get to appoint more SCOTUS who brought us, “Corporations Are People” and “Women aren’t protected by the Constitution”. What the Eff did you expect? That pretending something is not a problem means it’s not a problem?
I am so very tired. Particularly so very tired of people seeing what they want to see, going into a frenzy and disregarding all the rest. It’s not only not healthy for them, but look what this blog lost because of it. Not that I care all that much anymore. It was only here for all of you as long as you wanted it, and that includes the lurkers who rejected it for something bright, shiny and hopeless after four years of blowing smoke up its ass. It seems everybody has a right to feel hurt. Except me.
I needed to get that off my chest and I have as much right to do so as anyone else.
Dearest NES, it doesn’t matter if we had a bet or not. What matters is that you are okay and you spend your time thinking of what’s really important. I love you. Go rest.

But hey, I could be wrong…..
And FOX is discussing how they need to run more conservative candidates. All righty, then. Go for that and give Hillary 2016 a cake walk, assholes. She looks so sane next to all of you. Both sides. 52% say America is on the Wrong Track, but nobody bothers asking them what they really mean by that.
Lady Lynn is nailing it on Fox.

you are so friggin right it is scary. ryan is a prick, plain and simple.
Thank you Murphy, so very much. You have no idea how much this coming from you means to me. I put a lot on the line here to stick to my principles. I lost a lot, I got slammed a lot. I got hurt a lot, but that hurt doesn’t seem to count. This blog hung in the balance and probably loss. The question is, whose loss is it? Sticking to my beliefs at my own peril is nothing new to me. I am noted for it and it hasn’t changed. At least I’m honest and not easily bullcrapped or dragged along by fake BFFs. And I can’t help seeing what’s really there. It’s been both a blessing and a cross. But I’m no fly by night who drops things when they aren’t convenient. I never was. And I too will Endure. Because it’s what we do
You, Murphy, of all people, know EXACTLY what I am saying. You’ve got the bruises to prove it.
I am so glad I dragged myself out of work on my supper break to vote for The Peace Shirt guy in protest. Clearly the way to go this year, for the first time in my life, was third party, if THIS is the blowback.
I am an idiot? Um, who is the idiot here, Mr, Tingles? MSNBrownnose.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2012/11/matthews-thirdparty-voters-are-idiots-148639.html
My comment disappeared.
Check out Tingles! I voted 3rd Party first time ever and this proves it was the right thing to do this year:

Two posts disappeared. The test above showed up. Trying again.
Matthews calls us idiots. We 3rd party voters did the right thing!!!

Testing out fine Karen, dear. Thank you for sticking with me.
Three comments i typed were just lost. The board is wonky.
I am trying to post the link to Tweety calling us idiots.

again it happened. I can’t post one link?

And here’s Rove ignoring the elephant in the room. Keep On Keeping on, guys. Ignore 51%, go for it.
Gosh Karen, I had no idea you were in spam like that. Are you using a different computer/IP address?
Matthews is an Obama blowing idiot. I can’t wait to ignore his ass for the next four years.
Uppity and Murphy,
Many of us are so glad you and others are still here and speaking for us. WE AGREE with what you are saying. We just don’t post much…..because your words say it all.
Thank You!!!!!
aw shucks Uppity — you are one of the best there is; always have been. I’m actually really grateful to read what you wrote because it makes so much sense– it makes what happened last night understandable to me. I really thought the jackass was going down, but I was one of those who was “pretending something that was a problem wasnt a problem” — I literally just refused to think about that dickhead Paul Ryan on the ticket, as if other women voters would do the same. Ha! What a dope I am!
Well one good thing to come out of this — republicans will have to learn that they have to accept the basic tenets of feminism (equal rights and reproductive freedom) if they EVER want to attain national office.
Thank you again — love you,
D.
I just cleared my cache. Something was wonky for a bit there. You can delete 7 of the above messages dear fixit fairy.
Eh I’m too lazy. lol and xo.
Well Maddie, I might need you to speak out more often. There’s an echo in here. There are things we must never suffer silently, Maddie. And thank you.
Murphy, I understand how you felt, I really do. But I even more respect you for not chastising me for seeing things differently and sounding a danger alarm nobody wanted to hear. I just couldn’t let the elephant in the room be blown off one more time. I can’t stand Obama anymore than you can, but an elephant in the room is an elephant in a room.
Hopefully Republicans will learn, and by default, that Democrats will learn where that elephant is. Because I suspect something big just happened and women now know just how many of them there are and what they can do with their numbers.
And feel free to use anything I wrote in any way you want. xo.
Murphy, I corrected the careless writing mistakes in my comment in case more people get to read it.
Ok Ms. Uppity. If I keep going like that I will put you over the 4 million mark all by myself.
I can’t find anything about the popular vote totals for us idiots who voted 3rd party. One site said mr. peacenik got a million votes but it wasn’t a reliable site possibly. Stein got less but at least was an alternative to the madness that comes every 4 years.
4 million sounds kind of funny now. It won’t be celebrated. You can do ten good things but will be punished for the 11th that doesn’t feel good. End of story. No good deed ever goes unpunished. I feel like a mother whose kids sucked her dry and then moved or got lured away.
Alas another Uppity Woman didn’t know her place.
Upps, those chickens should all come home to roost. There was a temporary surge of emotion coupled with lots of left over anger from ’08 that we all still carry around. Politics is an evil beast. 4 million is still a cause for celebration. As 5 million will be. And even if you only had 4000 posts here, it is still the place I call home because it is one of the few places where I don’t read the comment section and posts and groan and wince.
I love that people here think and don’t spout non-sense – and when we do occasionally do that we are called on it and our opinion is rightly challenged. Hold the feet to the fire, upps. It is what you do.
And you are right to do so. I deleted some of the other blogs I used to go to all the time because they changed with the blowing wind. They have egg on their faces now as we knew they would.
start a new thread… a 4 million mark thread. only 9 to go…
PIE! SOPHIE! SOCAL! PAM! FF! NES! PMM! Come by and give your Auntie Upps her just rewards for sticking through this crap fest!
Not gonna do it.
Jesse Jackson got re-elected from a mental hospital. Priceless.
I couldn’t resist.

Elizabeth Warren, who decidedly defeated the dumb jock centerfold, Tammy Duckworth, who wiped the floor with Joe “You’re not a hero just because you lost limbs” Walsh, Tammy Baldwin, America’s first Lesbian senator (insert Evangelical head explosions here) brought the percentage of The 51% in congress up to 19%.
51-19 = 32 to go, hell or highwater.
Looks like I can ignore the US news for another 4 years.
Turned on cable news last night for the first time since 2010…haven’t missed much.
We knew it was going to happen. The fix was in long ago. Next step “REPEAL22″
i have not watched cable news since 2007 and saw no need last night. Just trying to get the weather was bad enough, the local videos on line included smirks on the election. This is one of the things that has bothered me most in the last four years. Everything now has the stink of politics attached.
At any rate, most everyone around me will be ecstatic. There are few who have witnessed what is coming, starting with the switch to all part time and contract work – but most here are still in the DC bubble.
What I have heard discussed by the dem politicians I come in contact with on a regular basis is, at best, bad. The last four years have been picnic compared to what they have in mind for the future.
Note: we have so few Rs and in my area (suburban MD/VA) most are all very moderate. Gerrymandering has been vicious. I know that reps involved in the redistricting in a couple of the states and at least they had enough conscious to be embarrassed when I told them what I thought of their initiatives and pointed out the huge problems created by the last few rounds of marginalizing areas. The goal of the Maryland Governor is wipe out any and all competition.
Hey Upps we do not always agree but I am always here. I remember a day when lol it was only the two of us talking after several explosions with others lol. For the most part we agree on so many issues but even though you were right on this one and I knew you would be I had to go my way and do what I thought right for me. Now until we change our voting system to represent all Americans we deal with what is. You are in NY and many of your followers are in states that have a voice. Others like myself have no voice about what goes on in this country. The EC was a good system and safe guarded the vote back in it’s day but now is a defunct system that leads to several states controlling the union. The forefathers could never have predicted this because they could never have seen states like Cali grow to such huge #’s. I am happy to see many albeit left wing rags supporting the EC as needing changed. Only thing I have read in years from these major rags that make sense. You live in NY so you saw ads for both candidates, my daughter lives in a ” swing state” and was pelted with them. I saw not one and I mean it not ONE ! I had to look them up online to see what folks were talking about as did my friends in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and the Dakotas. Now joke if you will about these places but we are citizens of the USA as much as anyone in Calif, NY, Penn or any other state that tells us who we will have and what we will do yet we are never heard. Our states are forced to adopt rules that work in heavily populated areas but cripple us.
There are boatloads of people in this country who are silenced by a system that is no longer a good working system. Why bother to get out and vote when your state has three EC votes ? It will not change a thing when it is going up against a state with 53. Why bother to vote when you know your electorate is going red or blue and your vote will be tossed ? I mean try being a Conservative in California or a Liberal in Utah. Your vote is as useless as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.
Each state needs to have two votes or we go to a popular vote. It is ludicrous to think we have a fair system in this country right now because we do not and it is a system designed to keep the two parties in power. Popular vote would most likely produce a third party or several parties. More folks would come out and vote because their vote would count. How many folks supporting Stien actually voted ? How many folks in say NY actually wasted their time going to vote for Mitt ? Our system no longer is a fair and balanced system and one that only represents 20 or so states and the rest of us flunkies just do what we are told by the states that count. I can see why several states want to secede. I really can.
Good morning Uppity and Uppityies! I’m here, I savor and appreciate your wisdom and sanity. Rock on Uppity!
Was very sad that Prop 37 didn’t pass last night, was even sadder that Prop 30 did.
Today is a new day and we get a chance to start all over again with life. Whether we make today a day of joy or regrets is up to us. Living on a diet of revenge will never get us anywhere. Standing on principle is difficult to do but sure as hell makes it easier to sleep at night.
Prop 37 fails, scientists cheer
http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/science-sushi/2012/11/07/prop-37-fails-scientists-cheer/
I love how they keep repeating that there is no evidence GMOs are dangerous. Then how come nobody has proved that they aren’t dangerous. One study was done. You know, that ‘silly’ study about GMOs causing cancer.
They claim Prop 30 is a temporary tax. That’s hilarious. I’m still waiting for the NY State thruway “temporary’ fees to come to an end. Never met a temporary tax from a government that didn’t become permanent.
Fox is so dumb, really. They keep talking about how the majority of the people said that the country is heading in the wrong direction, yet they elected Obama. They are a blind bunch of goats because they think the answer to a stantalone question related only to the economy. It didn’t. There were other issues that obviously were important and nobody exactly defined what that poll question was in reference to. It’s not as if some pollsters didn’t try to tell them this.
Utah, the electoral votes are weighted by population. Otherwise 100,000 voters would have the same weight as a million voters. The system is sound until it pisses one of us off. If states want more electoral votes then they might want to work at inreasing their population instead of putting out proverbial Keep Out signs. Wouldn’t someone else be wasting his time voting for Obama in Utah???
Uppity, I don’t watch any news. I haven’t replaced my TV since it broke a year and a half ago. I think that helped with my sanity. I have no wounds to lick this morning because most of my news and investment in the election was from this site and blog news.
I miss real news reporting with no opinionated talking heads pretending to give news.
Prop 30 will affect me personally but I have a job, my company still offers insurance. Time will still pass one day at a time and it’s up to me to stop and enjoy life everyday.
Upps, love your rant up at 7am! Brava! Thats exactly how I feel.
Title of Hillay’s new book. “The only adult in the room”
“Time will still pass one day at a time and it’s up to me to stop and enjoy life everyday.”
Well said Goofs. We don’t know if something awful will happen to us, best to create as many good days as we can. Prop 30 will be good for my family actually. My husband works for LAUSD & my kid goes to community college. I’m really disappointed about Prop 37 though. I really wanted to stick it to the big bullies, like Monsanto & Dow. Ah well, I think it will be rewritten and we’ll get another shot at it.
I have the news on, several repub leaders are not happy with the results and not taking it with class and grace, I’m not surprised to say. Well, have a good day everyone. At least this election is ovah…something we can all be happy about!
Thanks Upps. Love ya too…somethings never change. XO
You got THAT right, Babe.
We have UN “Pollwatchers” in our elections, defiling our Free ground? What a bunch of bullsheet. Can’t even clean up their own human rights issues and they are bigger than watching polls.
Upps I said that. A Liberal stands no chance voting here. Popular vote would get more out to vote. I have long ago hated the EC and I disagree with you that it is a good system. I have long ago said it is a system that was good for the times but like many things it needs to be re-vamped. It is not a fair system. Too many do not vote because it is a huge waste of time. Too many are not represented and several states control the whole thing. You say we have a keep out sign and I really have to laugh at that one. Let’s see how many would leave the cushy style they have in say Philly with all it’s stores etc to live in a place that does not have as much ? Let’s take ND. Has a low population all the while it has no more housing to house the floods of folks flocking there to work yet retaining their own status in another state. Now folks are making darn good $$ there but will they live there and pay what the price is to make that money ? Families are not coming there just men or women looking for the dollar. Their families reap the rewards but it is not increasing the population of that state. They are not helping the state out because they are paying taxes in another. So if that is what we need to do in these states is hang out a your not welcome here sign in order to keep free loaders out might not be that bad. It is far better then allowing them to come here make boat loads of money and get kicked in the ass for doing so. Utah thank God is starting to do that. All road jobs and state funded jobs are going to go to Utahans not folks in other states looking for a way to earn a dollar to send back home.
Population will never increase in states that have horrid winters like ND, WY, MT folks are not willing to leave to make money and live there they go make money and live elsewhere. Since we are not counted at election time and are not represented and stand alone in a sense then why the hell do we need to follow rules that simply do not work here. A good one is the no idle law. Ok that works in Cali or NY but in ID for example it is utterly ridiculous. For a truck driver that by law has to stop after 10 hours of drive time and sleep or get ticketed big time it is idiotic for him not to be able to idle his truck to keep the heater on. So now they have to have on board generators which lol are burning gas too, noisier then the truck engine and putting the same carbon foot prints out there just more of a pain in the ass and for the independent guy just another expense to keep from freezing to death while trying to earn a living. In populated areas it is fine they have truck stops where they can for a mere 20 bucks a pop have heat brought into their cabs via hoses. Try that in Montana if you are not under 20 feet of snow and lucky enough to find a town. Try driving a smart car or one of these little Hondas out here when you are darn lucky if a plow has made it’s way through. You might go 100 miles to a town and never see a plow and that is why most folks have big trucks or SUVs with plows on them. Some things the population dictates we all must do just does not work. That is why I strongly favor states rights trumping the fed and that is how the states were set to be governed in the beginning. Something went foul. That something was amendment 17 where senators were picked by the people instead of the governors. So since we screwed up the system that had checks and balances in place to insure that folks were never governed as we are today then I say it is time to toss the whole system out or fix it back to where the EC worked and states were their own country blanketed under the fed for commerce and protection and that Montana would not have to live according to what was good for Cali or NY.
Thankful that when my phone rings it is actually a call from family or friend and not robocall Ryan with an urgent and demanding voice yelling at me and telling me what to do – as if anyone could!
Fished you out of spam again, Utah I think it’s the length of your comments, but who knows.
This electoral college thing comes up every election generally from the losing side. The system was designed for a reason, that reason being correctly weighted population representation. I can’t give you ten votes because you are one and I have ten in my family. A state has the right to keep the population low but don’t expect extra votes for it. There is no way giving two electoral votes a million people and a hundred thousand people is even remotely fair representation.
Last thing I want is a government picking my government instead of me. I don’t want my governor doing my voting for me. More opportunity for Good ole boys to help each other out. All of the same mind and the people be damned. I like checks and balances. I will agree that some laws the congress has stuck their noses in are stupid and one size does not fit all. They get away with it under the auspices of the “Public Good” Then they buy stock in whatever will make money off their new law.
Am waiting to see what the Fed comes up with to trump Colorado and Washington’s Mary Jane law. Although I think it is idiotic for a person to smoke that shit and get stupid I have to say it is their right to do so if the state says it is. The Fed however will come in and screw it up and see that was never the way this government was meant to work. Colorado has every right in the world to do this and other states have every right in the world not to. What the citizen of Colorado need to understand is it might be legal there but if they cross over in to Utah they will get hung for having it. Coloradans do not have a right to force Utah to adopt it’s mary jane law and that is where we are so screwed up. Each state has a right to it’s own ways of life so long as it does not violate the U.S. Constitution. They should be able to drill and produce oil and not have the lands snatched from them by the fed to keep them from doing so. I love love love ND for what it is doing and by doing what it is the citizens of that state are prospering but for how long ? The fed is butt humping them more and more because they found a way around the stop drilling laws.
Yeah something to keep that mushtached thief over in DOJ busy so he will give fewer guns to cartels. Stedman doesn’t like states questioning his power. Will be fun to watch.
Hey Utah, they will probably tax the crap out of the mary jane and make a bundle. Next thing you know, all the states will want one.
Bet THEIR population increases, though. lol.
Well Upps let’s say we agree to disagree on the EC. I have been against it since I started voting regardless of which side won. Popular vote would open the door to a third or fourth party. It is the only way I see ever taking down the two party system and restoring that the people have a voice. You have heard me say as well as others that a vote for third party is a waste and goes to the aid of the one you usually want out. If folks could vote third party and be counted as a popular vote more would be inclined to do so and dump the two giants. Just my opinion. The EC no longer works as it was originally designed to do since we no longer have the same government that it worked for. I agree that it was a loss to some when they had a governor of the opposing party picking the senators but it was set up to keep checks and balances as you say the EC is. Senators could not at the time they were picked like this do what was done like ram Obama care through. They did not work for the nation they worked for the governor of the state who btw saw fit to elect that governor. Since we the people squawked and tossed that system I pray we toss the other too or revamp it. Either go back to the government as it was originally set up or revamp the whole thing.
LMAO I need not sound off so bad because we are revamping it and the USA is really more socialist then it is free. Monsanto wins the people lose. Michelle eats what she wants and tells us what we can and can not have need I say more ?
I am also willing to bet that if we had voter ID, and went by popular vote you would right now be seeing Hilary doing her second term. I knew a great # of conservatives who would have voted for Hilary over McLame in the primaries and in the election it’s self. I might have even been swayed.
Wow, 4 million!!!! Woot! Congratulations, Uppity! I am glad you hung on to your principles through it all. Yes, you will endure–that’s what you do.
I think everyone had to come to their own place on this election. I don’t think anyone voted FOR anyone.I think most people voted against their worst fear, even if it meant giving up some of their interests. I think after some chilling time, people will go back to normal. I hope so. I am already over being called a moron, an idiot, and ignorant. I know I made the best choice for MY temperament out of the available options. I believe the same of others.
I am particularly happy about Tammy Baldwin. I feel represented.
I wish I’d saved the Tweet that said something like, I’m off to go marry some pot.
Market down 250 points today
Must be some Goldman People falling out of windows.
Yes it’s a good day for lesbians, Sophie. In spite of the head explosions, some of which, I might add, I would pay money to see.
It was great to have a “Women’s sweep” yesterday. I thank the particular R candidates (they know who they are) for riling up the female base nationwide. The last time this happened was 1992, after the Anita Hill debacle, on the heels of Thelma and Louise, which was called The Year of the Woman. (Also the year WJC won.) Just goes to show you…we get complacent, we often put others’ needs ahead of our own, but when we get pissed, watch out.
Sophie I saw saw where 11% more women than men voted yesterday. You can bet that number didn’t rise for nothing. I am pretty sure freaks like Akin helped make that happen. And fear of Ryan.
Well here I am finally it only took two days to read all the comments.
The best thing
This clears it for Hillary 2016. ;:)
Spoke with a very conservative AA male friend from SC today. He shocked me when he said he voted for Obama yesterday, in part, because of Ryan and Aiken and the legitimate rape thing.
Hugs and kisses everyone.
Interesting. I never really feared Ryan. I know there is a push from the right to control our bodies but in many terms I see that from the D’s too by their lack of getting shit done they promise. If economy had not and was not my biggest fear I would have stayed home. This country is heading for trouble and food and heat will be a huge commodity and something folks will fight for. Hungry people are dangerous people.
I guess we see what we see and we all wait to see who is right. Me I have taken steps for my own survival and intend to keep doing so. If what economists predict to happen I will be very well armed to protect what I have saved.
Not a R’s are out to control your body though and you have enough D’s to stop it. Me personally when it comes to women’s issues I see no difference in which party is screwing us all I see is the R’s do not try to take a turd and coat it in chocolate and convince you it is a tootsie roll.
67% of single women voted for Obama.
Elephant. Meet Room.
Of course the media will ignore this.
Interesting census statistics

Of course they will. Who wants to hear what women say. I do know that the conservative boards are buzzing with it. Many like me are asking if the message was sent loud enough that you need to STFU when it comes to abortion and gay rights. The law says abortion is legal and weather or not you agree with abortion you need to stuff something else in that cake hole and move along. Just like I see no reason for folks to get high but if the law says they can so be it. I have had to suffer through tons of crap laws that work well in one place but hinder my life here and I wish it could be stopped at the borders but it seems folks spoke and we need to learn to survive and adapt or shoot ourselves in the head and end the problem. Me I hate Obama with every fiber of my being and hate that his administration is getting away with criminal actions but it is what the people want or refuse to see I guess. I am going to worry about me and live life the way I like to live and do what I do. Hardship is nothing new to this old broad. I can make good out of the worst. I have so it is no big deal. I can not say the same for many I know. Heck I might even jump the border and come back as an Illegal if it gets bad enough lmao.
I am doing research today and came across a paper entitled (paid for by your tax dollars):
Why Are Recessions Good for Your Health?
(Especially if you are a girl!).
Sort of sums things up. Bad economy is good for you and yours.
Got to go to work so I can buy more cheetos for the masses. See ya later.
WordPress made me take a new name. They said mine was “in use”. Well yea……
Mt.Laurel
LOL!
My cousin’s son is still without power in NJersey. With a child in the house.
One little-reported ballot initiative from last night was in the great territory of Puerto Rico, where 2/3 of the voters supported a non-binding referendum to become a full US state. Interestingly, they voted out the governor who favored statehood (by a slim margin). The new gov favors the current system. All it would take to happen is a simple majority vote in Congress.
Puerto Rico. There’s a subject we can discuss. I know nothing of the pros and cons.
Sad about the poor people still without power, and especially those with ruined homes. I saw it was snowing in NY today. Geesh.
laurel, I figured that was you! WordPress is certainly acting up this week.
Upps, Huzzah on the 4 million mark!
It’s snowing in CT too. We’re expecting 3-6″ in my neck of the woods.
omigosh! It seems so early. Stay warm & safe!
Uppity@7:00a.m. Brava my dear lady, brava!!!!
I know you got hurt a lot during this most recent of messes but i am so glad you are gonna still be here and will keep waving the flag for womens’ rights and calling people out when needed. And thank God that stupid assed comments by repub anti-women thugs *do* have consequences. Here’s a big ole gay kiss for ya. SMOOOOOOCH!!!
Just got an update. Acquaintances in NJ/NY. They now all have power and have managed to avoid the other major problems plaguing the area such as looting. A couple of the younger ones work in emergency services/hospital ERs. Everyone has been worried about them. Their stories are not good.
socal
yes, wordpress made me run around in circles. Then had the audacity to send me an email asking if I had authorized the name change that their system had demanded.
Better than one of my friends. They sent him an email to tell him said email address does not exist therefore he has no wordpress account and to log into his account and provide a current email address.
Brava, Uppity. That is all I have to say.
You’ve got 4 million
problemshits…Congrats Upps. Big X.
I have never cared less about an election than I did about this one. I have never walked in to an election booth not knowing exactly what I was doing until this one. My heart said write in Hillary, my head said “keep your pledge to vote for all women on the ballot. In the end my head won. I figured that any woman with the guts to run for election in this atmosphere deserved my support. So I voted for republicans, a libertarian, the green party ticket, several democrats and even a few men.
For this I did not get called a racist this time around. I did get called a sexist by my Obama loving brother. So I am wondering if there is a re-education camp I could have him spirited off to?
To those of you disappointed by the results of the election, I am sorry. I have been there and believe me, Obama being re-elected is no particular joy to me, I didn’t vote for him either time. I know how it feels to be very disappointed and it’s not fun. There will be other elections with better results.
The only thing that gave me real pleasure this election were the women’s victories so I plan to keep working in that direction. Stiff upper lip and all that. Here’s to 52 percent in 2016.
