Mini-Me Madoff Made Off with $350,000,000

nadelnwife1Meet Mini-Me Madoff,  latest suspected Ponzi prince Arthur G. Nadel:

Investors – from individuals to the Sarasota YMCA Foundation — in the funds branded Viking, Valhalla and Scoop were stunned this week to learn they may be victims in what could become the largest investment swindle in Southwest Florida history.
Fund principal Arthur G. Nadel, a prominent player in Sarasota social and philanthropic circles, disappeared this week. His wife, Peg, filed a missing person report with law enforcement after finding a suicide note.

…snip…

Neil V. Moody, the president of Viking Management, declined to respond to interview requests.

In a statement issued Thursday to investors, Moody confirmed the funds appear depleted.

“Unfortunately, just yesterday afternoon we became aware of an extremely serious situation suggesting that the funds may have virtually no remaining value,” Moody wrote.

Let me get this right. They suspect he took $350,000,000, he leaves a suicide note for his wife to read and they find his car at the airport. I think it’s pretty safe to say that Mr. Nadel is not planning to bribe people in his afterlife.  At least Madoff has enough self-love to sneer daily, although most of us live for the day when he is seen peeing himself on his way to his life sentence without parole.

If you read the article cited here, you would swear ole “Art” Nadel is a saint. That kind of coverage is just plain sickening. These con men always pretend to be pillars of society and it’s downright perverse to see a news outlet list their “community service” with money they bilked from others.  You have to wonder if Mr. Nadel is carrying the Ken Lay Bilker Manual with him. Lay died on cue and then they sanctified him, discussing his generosity, phlanthropy and “Love of God”.  Ask the Enron employees and retirees he bilked how God Loving he was.  But that wasn’t insult enough.  No Sir. With his death, they dropped his charges and the family of that sack of shit got all the money and property the demon had acquired and kept. The people he ripped off got:  :::crickets:::

Now we have Nadel deciding to kill himself with $350,000,000 in tow. And his wife, who just reported him ‘missing’ just seems all broken up, doesn’t she?

Management appeared in a state of turmoil. Peg Nadel and son Geoff Quisenberry said they could not comment on the size of the company’s assets under management, the number of clients, how much has been lost, or even whether it is accurate to call them a hedge fund operator.

“The way I want to be represented is we are totally open and cooperative with all our clients and the authorities, and that includes the SEC,” Peg Nadel said. “We have nothing to hide. But until our counsel has a statement prepared for us to make public, we cannot comment on what is happening here.”

Oh I’ll just bet you cannot comment, Peg. We’ve seen this movie before.  I’ll just bet all of your property is in your name, right, Mini-Mrs. Lay? Gotta watch that “arm folding” in photos Mrs. “Art”.  Body language is everything  in times like this–and the FBI knows that.

It is truly time to make examples of these Wall Street con men and con women–starting with the SEC that seems to be really good at monitoring nothing. The problem is, it’s difficult to have any faith in our system any longer after we watched Ken Lay’s family dance off with the assets he left behind.

One other thing: I really have to ask this question:

Exactly how bright are the people who invest with con men like Nadel and actually believe they are yielding more than 8% in a Wall Street crashing environment? Where on earth do they think these people are investing their money? Here’s one of them. Not for anything, sir, but didn’t you feel at least a teeny tiny bit suspicious in the current market environment?:

He said he invested $500,000 in the Viking IRA Fund three years ago, and through November it had grown to $729,844. The fund managers claimed the fund had earned 8.56 percent in 2008, down only in October, during a year when Wall Street suffered catastrophic losses.

  1. I want to go to the island that Nadel and Ken Lay went to! I’ll bet we could get the address off of Bernie Madoff’s mailing labels for all those checks and trinkets…

Probably the same people who voted for Barry thinking he was going to fly in on his magical unicorn and save our economy, end the war and heal the world.

  3. Viking is an appropriate name for the fund –
    rape pillage plunder.
they’ll get a few milion for the Venice jet center.

  4. From “USA Today”: “Nadel operated out of Scoop Management, which has a modest office with burgundy awnings on Sarasota’s Main Street.”

Scoop up other people’s money and abscond. Could that name be any more perfect?!

So far, nothing in the “Wall Street Journal.” Hey, what’s $350 mil these days? A comparative pittance to warrant coverage there.

  5. de, looks like Barack found his poodle.
    my condolences to NY.

  6. Hi uppity. I write: http://obamaismagic.blogspot.com/

use whatever you like. I don’t get around to posting blurbs as much as i would like.

  7. I am sick to death of these people….all they do is thumb their nose at everyone. What a waste.

  8. Ayers denied entry into Canada:

    LOL!!

  9. ROFL distinguished educator who travels all over the world, but he can’t get into Canada. did he mention he’s a friend to the US President?
Hugo Chavez says “Obama has Bush’s stench”.
    so much for improved relations.

  10. HA HA! couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. The only thing to CMPs missed was the full cavity search.

  11. I know, don’t you love it? He said he ‘had no idea why he was turned back”.

Maybe because you are a professed anarchist, Marxist radical who blew up buildings and just happen to be walking around instead of Doing Life because your old man had money?

  12. Gee too bad Bernardine didn’t come along.

But they can both get into Cuba fairly easily.

  13. LOL! Hooray for the Canadian border guards! Smarter than the average Obama voter.

  14. DE re: Caroline.

I hope she enjoys knowing that New Yorkers already despise her and that she has destroyed her reputation forever by having to force unqualified and disinterested hermit self into a slot she doesn’t belong in. New Yorkers will reward her when she runs. And ACORN will get their ass kicked right out of the state. NY isn’t chicago. They don’t forget. But they will enjoy all the money Obama throws at them to make her look good. Then they will shaft her. THAT’s New York.

And Dave Paterson’s reward awaits him too. Hopefully, Ted’s reward is coming soon in the form of his conversation with God before Mary Jo shows up with boots and kicks his miserable ass south.

  15. Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean
    FREE AT LAST.
    Bush finally get it right

  16. UW what’s up with your pals at NQ going all Hopey Changey?

  17. HAHAHA…OMG Kat …that’s precious, esp when
Ayers says= “To me it seems quite bureaucratic and not at all interesting … If it were me I would have let me in. I couldn’t possibly be a threat to Canada.”

My ass, he couldn’t….just be being allowed entry would whip up whatever radical nutballs are there. Hooray
for Canada! Oh but Billy, they are still “disinterested” in YOU! “If I were me?” WTF? That’s just it= YOU are YOU
    and facts don’t lie.

BTW, it isn’t as if Billy is an esteemed professor an the University of Illinois at Champaign, which probably turned him away for much the same reason. He does NOT teach there, but at the much smaller University of Chicago, half the size of the University of Illinois. So he wound up making a small splash in a small pond as a prof.

(My apologies to graduates of UC, which is a fine school, in spite of Ayers.)

Shit about the Caroline appointment. My condolences to New York. It’s really too bad Ted won’t let go of his
“dyNASTY”….but she’ll learn the hard way in an election that New Yorkers don’t want her.

  18. Gee, I need ideas to fill my day tomorrow. So far, I have these things I’d rather do than watch the

The seven deadly sins are alive and well in America
If there weren’t greedy fools, there wouldn’t be con men.

On the other hand, not everyone is begging to be ripped off. One group considering investing with Madoff did its homework first. Concluding that they could not find where the money was coming from that he promised, they invested elsewhere.
