Good news ladies! Your mammogram coverage is about to be trashed! You don’t mind do you????

Now onto more health care news for broads bitches women.

Good news ladies!

All of a sudden you won’t need  so many mammograms! Yes that’s right, Ladies. It’s not a problem any longer and you will no longer be covered by insurance need mammograms yearly starting at age 40. You have to wait till 50 and then you will  only be covered need a mammogram every two years.  Hopefully thousands of you  bitches will die faster because Barack Obama and Congress are really sick of women, except for Nancy. Nancy can be The Only Woman Left. If you could just die of breast cancer in your 40s because you didn’t get a mammogram, just think how much more Viagra the system will be able to afford.

In something of a reversal, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommended that the average woman wait until age 50 to begin routine screening for breast cancer, and only get screened every two years. The previous recommendations — in place since 2002 and backed by the American Cancer Society, radiologists and health professionals — said women should begin routine screening at age 40. Now, to the consternation of some in those groups, the task force says the overall benefit of screening women aged 40 to 49 doesn’t outweigh the risks.

A reversal! Is this a miracle or what!?  Eh who cares what the American Cancer Society says. We’ve got the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force to help  Prevent Women’s Services. Just in time to cut more women’s health care services out of the Health Care Just For Men Bill. How cool is that? What. A. Coincidence!

Guess what else? The Task Force says you no longer have to perform breast self-examinations. Not necessary. Nope. Besides, if you find a lump you will cost the health care system more money. So cut the crap and don’t go looking for lumps. Just leave it. It’s nothing.

The “Let’s Cut Women’s Health Care Task Force”  also says  if you broads are 75 or older,  you no longer need mammograms at all. You know why? Here’s why:

Additionally, mammography screening of women older than 75 is not considered necessary, since those women may be diagnosed with a cancer that is unlikely to cause a problem in their lifetime.

In other words, you are old so screw you if you get breast cancer.  75 is a very respectable age to die, especially if you’re just a woman. You might even make it to 76, so what’s the beef?

The “Task Force” hasn’t mentioned so far that men over 75 should stop getting prostate exams. I guess that’s planned for later, right?

Gosh, if they could just get that Sharia Law thing moving along, women won’t need to visit doctors at all! Think of all the money that can be saved on their silly medical care. More money for Viagra!

You can listen to the infuriating NPR interview on this subject here. I warn you, you are going to be infuriated as you listen to the condescending crap that leads up to telling you that if you want a mammogram before age 50, it “Will not be reimbursable”. You will also listen to the American Cancer Society representative tell them nicely how horrible this idea is. I also suggest that you read the comment section corresponding to the link at the start of this post, so you can read how many people who had cancer would have been dead if this new “Death For Women” rule were in place when they were diagnosed with cancer.

And then there’s this:

But the updated guidelines don’t come without controversy.

“With its new recommendations, the [task force] is essentially telling women that mammography at age 40 to 49 saves lives; just not enough of them,” Dr. Otis Brawley, chief medical officer for the American Cancer Society.

The organization says it looked at virtually the same data as the task force but came to a different conclusion. “Breast cancer is a serious health problem facing adult women, and mammography is part of our solution beginning at age 40 for average-risk women,” it says. It recommends annual exams beginning at that age.

Experts at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center also voiced concern and said they aren’t changing their screening protocol. “We disagree with their conclusions,” Dr. Therese Bevers said of the task force. “You have to screen more women. It’s the value we put on zero women dying.”

What a horrible place America is becoming for women in just two short years. Care to guess why?

  1. I thought the Democratic party was supposed to be the one to support women?

    51% Ladies….51%

  2. It’s time women gave the Democratic Party a vasectomy.

  3. OK who the hell is the preventive services task force??? I’ve never heard of them. Who is on the task force??

Why should anyone listen to them???

This is ridiculous once mammograms became routine the death rate from breast cancer dropped dramatically because cancers were being caught earlier.

  4. Hmm, now that we can look forward to every other year smashograms, those tumors should be nice and big in two years.
I guess this means that ObamaCare won’t be able to provide that really expensive chemo either. The tried and true chemo will not be enough for the monster tumor…too bad we waited so long.
I guess Al Gore should also be happy because that means less lifetime carbon footprint as well.
Seems like John Edwards might have had a say in this as well, don’t ya think?

  5. John Edwards????? He’s waiting for his wife to die so he can get married.

  6. Yes, somebody. And the bitches lived. Cost a lot of money too!

  7. The make-up of the “Task force”…4 Public Health/Preventive Health, 2 Family medicine, 2 Pediatricians, 2 Ob/Gyn

No Cancer Surgeons, No Oncologists, No Radiologists…Pediatricians and Ob/Gyns making decisions about Breast Cancer???

  8. Who appoints them. Let me guess. The President.

  9. At the direction of obama’s NWO masters, who want Islam as thr state religion because it is the enemy of democracy, American women are being backed into a corner where Sharia law will rule.

  10. I just read some of the comments following the “story” on the npr site. One of the comments was written by a woman who says she is a mammogram tech. Here are some of the stats she quotes…

One in every 6 women now gets breast cancer. From 50-60 your risk quadruples. From 60-70 your risk quintuples. Between 50 and 70 is the most dangerous time to get breast cancer. To decrease mammograms to every two years is a death wish for women in this age demographic. The # 1 cause of breast cancer is diet, the 2nd cause environmental effects and the LAST is hereditary. I have seen as young as 19 years old with double mastectomy to 90 year olds with Breast cancer. Cancer doesn’t care what age you are or what sex you are

I am furious. my 32 year old niece found a lump by doing a self examination, and within 6 weeks was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and had a (radical) mastectomy. She has had (I don’t know how many rounds of) chemotherapy and would be dead right now, if the doc hadn’t followed up with her self report a year ago last fall.

Now though, the insurance company is saying her benefits are gone and she cannot have either a mastectomy of the other breast nor can she have reconstructive work.
She’s 32, has a beautiful 4 year old daughter (who, if she’s lucky will outlive these misogynistic and macabre “guidelines” to decimate the 51%), and a loving husband who is counting his lucky stars that they found her cancer before these rulz developed.

    I hate these f*ckers.

  11. The drive-thru deliveries are coming back next

  12. Maybe instead of all the fluffy pink crap (http://www.savethetatas.com), we should get black t-shirts that say

    Ta-Tas: Not worth saving?

    *****A

  13. That is a load of crap leslie. If she ran through her entire maximum benefit, that is another issue. She really should check about that. Most plans begin to max at $1 million. If she thinks that she is being played, tell her to go to her state’s Dept of Insurance. They can certainly help her.

In 1998 the US passed the 1998 Federal Breast Reconstruction Law which was signed into Law on October 21.

It is the only time that coverage is mandatory due to breast cancer. This includes revisions. Most insurances will cover anyone with the genetic predisposition for breast cancer right now. I posted on this law. What are they going to do? Repeal it? Hey, males are susceptible to breast cancer as well. The law does not distinguish between gender. Breast cancer must be covered PERIOD.

    http://mcnorman.wordpress.com/2009/11/12/breast-cancer-reconstruction-hope-from-pigs/

  14. I like that Adrienne in CA.

  15. Funny you should mention Edwards. Her case was mentioned in the interview with Dr. Jeffrey Tice of Uni of Calif – SF. Each interview (there were 2 of them) was more infuriating than the story found at the story’s link.

Please, go to this link and listen :
    http://www.npr.org/templates/player/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=120470428&m=120470617

And just tell me how patronizing and “bottom line” (for the insurance companies – who the initial interviewee denied being concerned with) these new guidelines are.

I really hate these f*ckers more and more.

  16. Thanks McN.

I’ll send this info to her.
I cannot tell you just what this has done to all of us.

  17. leslie, she has to fight or have someone fight for her. The law is clear. Tell her not to worry, the law (atleast for now) is on her side.

  18. What a horrible country America has become in just two short years since Barack Obama loudly dropped out of the sky. I hope NARAL, Emily’s List, NOW and all the rest of these stupid morons are happy.

  19. McNorman? xxoo.

  20. Where will NARAL and NOW be on this? Will this make them cry foul?

  21. obama, the first black muslim jihadist president, has declared war on women. The opening shot was fired at Hillary. His crowds of crazed followers laughed like low-life fools when he gave her the finger . His obot writing corps was trained to call Hillary supporters “menopausal hags.” From there, they were instructed to call Sarah Palin a “cunt.”

Inspired by “my Muslim faith”–obama’s very words on national TV, immediately covered over by the interviewer, Stefanapolous– he has gone from giving Hillary the finger to legislating death sentences upon as many American women as possible. May Maureen Dowd, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, and Oprah LardAss be the first to go. I exclude Pelousy because she’s not a woman. She’s a talking death mask.

  22. mcn ~
I just sent an email to my brother – her father in law – with the info and asked for their (nephew and niece) emails. I don’t know if my brother will forward them the info, so I plan to. (My brother always fears being intrusive. Me, not so much)

I have been known to be a fighter – at least for others… And I’m pretty good at it – at least for others I am.

    thanks again.
(Be certain to listen to the broadcasts. they are something else.)

  23. Where are NARAL and NOW EVER?

  24. And whom will they lay blame on when they finally figure it all out?

Leslie, if you need more info, let me know.

  25. More than half of all women between the ages of 40 to 65 get mammograms to screen for breast cancer. Mammography is considered one factor in the continuing decline of breast cancer deaths.

    (from the npr site)

What you won’t know unless you listen to the recording linked at the top of that page, is that they are saying women under 40 can get mammograms, but their insurance companies will not reimburse for them. (I wonder if they will cover treatment for actual cancers found during those uncovered mammograms.)

*Of course the insurance companies had “nothing” to do with these guidelines. At least that is what we are told to believe.

  26. UW,

    Am I in spam?

  27. I listened to the broadcasts. I can tell you that these people will do as they please unless all hell breaks loose on them.
Those pediatricians on that panel should be worried about the public knowing that they are weighing in on something with such serious consequences.

  28. This is just plain stupid. A larger tumor requires a larger assault, ie more $$$ spent unless the death panels already have their criteria in hand?

  29. yes. they will say the tumor is too big and it’s too late. Like you said, “Shouldn’t have waited”.

There is an all out assault on women going on here folks. And seniors. It is so obvious, I cannot believe that there aren’t pitchforks and torches on the capital steps right now.

  30. Stephen King could not write a more frightening scenario.

  31. Yes you were Mary. Don’t ask me how.

  32. Let’s see how much play this story gets in the next few days. I will lay money down that it gets buried.

  33. If there aren’t major screaming press releases from every woman’s organization in this country by morning, then these women are truly brain dead. You know something? I’m getting sick and tired of worrying about them. Let THEM worry. They will find out the hard way. No skin off my nose. I won’t be needing an abortion and I’m over 50 so I can have a mamogram. Fuck them.

  34. Uppity,

thank you so much for following up on this. You cannot imagine how much help just these last 70 minutes have been. I hope many people read this in the morning.

As for me, I’ve got another very stress producing day coming up tomorrow, so I have to say good night.

and a special thanks to mcnorman as well. i’ll keep on top of this and get back to you if i need more help.

  35. obama has declared war on women. From giving Hillary the finger, to bashing Sarah’s political credits. This woman-hating Muslim fucker has now progressed to laying death sentencs upon all American women.

Need an abortion? Use a coat hunger, preferably a rusty one. Feel a lump in your breast? Well, stop touching it and pony up your taxes so the illegals can get their doctor’s appointments.

Maureen Dowd, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah LardAss: may you be the first to go.

  36. I was so incensed with this, I registered at NPR just to leave a comment. My God, the nerve of us wimmins demanding decent breast health! My best friend from the time we were 10 was diagnosed 2 years ago at 42 with breast cancer, after she found a lump during her self-exam. She had a radical mastectomy and reconstructive surgery later. She is a survivor. Susan G. Komen is weeping in heaven somewhere, and every single woman who has ever participated in fundraising in her name should be outraged.

  37. I am with you UW. They sure didn’t seem to worry about anything that Barry was doing to enslave them.

Mary, that bunch can stand in line behind Valerie Jarrett.

You would think that POTUS (whose own mother died of ovarian cancer) would think twice about something so stupid.

  38. McN, he didn’t even bother with his dying mother. He couldn’t care less. He left his grandmother on ice for how long? Come on. This guy has no feelings for anybody and especially not for women. He’s a cold, calculated robot.

I’m keeping this post on top for all of tuesday.

  39. To all, rest peacefully because tomorrow will bring new battles. That is for certain.

  40. I know UW. He is a pathetic excuse for a son and grandson. All he cares about is having his name stuck on some bill that will help finish this country off.

  41. Good nite, Leslie, and bless your niece. May she live a long long life. And may barack obama get breast cancer.

  42. I have to wonder about his grandmother UW. He never took the girls to see her in the end. She died of cancer. Mom dies of ovarian cancer. Grandmother dies of cancer. Those same genetic predispositions are alive and well in his sister and his daughters.

  43. McN, narcissists care not for anyone but themselves. This is why he cannot stop saying the word “I” and why he cannot stop associating every goddamned speech he make with his Royal Self. I. I. I. I. I. I. Me Me Me Me Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.,

  44. “I cannot believe that there aren’t pitchforks and torches on the capital steps right now.”

Believe it , UW. The 0MSM is too busy bashing Sarah’s book to cover obama’s war on women.

THIS IS WAR, AND WOMEN HAVE BEEN DECLARED THE ENEMY.

Lord, break the spell that the Evil One has cast over the people of this land.
PLease, all who read this, give my prayer a loud, clear “Amen.”

  45. Why yes, everyone makes such a big deal out of Barry’s tatas. He could succumb to breast cancer as well.

  46. Goodnight to all. Hugs to all so that we can take tomorrow on.
    xoxoxo

  47. It will be interesting to see ABC News’ take on this with Robin Roberts having breast cancer.

  48. Uppity, re: Narcissist, do you see his response in China to internet freedoms? lol. He was sure to tack this on:

“I should be honest, as President of the United States, there are times where I wish information didn’t flow so freely because then I wouldn’t have to listen to people criticizing me all the time.”

    So help us all.

  49. I stopped by just one last time.
Irlandese, I did exactly the same thing – I registered just because I was so angry. I even remembered the name of the a$$hat from the U of Cal – SF from hearing the report on the train. That is pretty darn angry.
It is just super that you will leave this story on top tomorrow. THANK YOU.
    xoxox to all.

  50. Robin is 49 years old, and found her breast cancer by self-examination.

  51. Yes Swell that will be interesting. I wonder how she’s feeling about her messiah now.

  52. I saw this on teevee this evening and was shocked!! I’ve known/heard of more women in the 40’s discovering breast cancer than in their 50s. That’s just personal knowledge/experience. A mammogram is a cheap enough price to cover to potentially save a life. This is soooo not acceptable.

  53. Interesting this comes out during the HC debate. It was just a few weeks ago basically the same thing was said about prostate screenings. Setting us up for rationing already!.

  54. This shocker is getting good TV coverage, but much less concise that what UW supplies here; the most frequent defense of eliminating the 40 – 50 year old group is that ‘too many false positives’ turn up leading to unneeded stress and biopsies. Perhaps this will wake up America to the reality of ObamaCare?

I’ve noted before that mammograms (i.e. women’s breasts) became a big campaign issue in NJ Gubernatorial campaign Corzine vs. Christie. The implication was that Corzine would pay for them and Christie would not. Christie won. Perhaps that was a sign for U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, also identified as ‘a panel of medical experts’ that Amerikka was ready to accept a big cut in hc.

  55. I find it completely disgusting that mammograms are “issues” in elective races between two men. I also find it odious that it’s an “Issue” at all. Ah well once they eliminate abortion, I suppose they can hold stupid women captive for years talking about mammograms. One party can emerge “Pro mammogram”. Do young women not SEE what is planned for them?? I know our schools and colleges have been dumbed down, but I had no idea how much.

  56. NOW’s O’Neil had better roll up her sleeves because she has a HUGE Kim Gandy mess to clean up. HUGE. THese people have never ONCE figured out how to mobilize women. They had best go beg Phyllis CHesler to help them out because she is the only remaining 2nd Wave leader who gets what’s going on. Even Gloria has her head up her ass.

Maybe Ms can do a cover, This is What Breast Cancer at age 40 looks like. Dingbats.

  57. O’Neil aint no Gandy
    http://www.now.org/news/blogs/index.php/sayit/2009/11/12/protest-stupak-amendment-next-two-mondays

Anybody see this on the news? Crickets.

  58. Well see one woman that stood up and screamed it was a death bill to seniors and women most all hate. Michelle Bachman. She tried and is being branded a kook. Shrugs. I still think she rocks I like her and hope she continues to scream.

  59. She’s all yours.

  60. Well I’m not surprised a bit….Fascists are not well known as being particularly supportive to women or for a sense of humor for that matter. I’ll bet there are no age restrictions on prostrate exams are there ?

  61. “I still think she rocks I like her and hope she continues to scream.”

Yes, I support any woman who goes out and screams. If she’s labeled a kook, she’s probably doing it right.

  62. Republican meems. Nothing more. Ineffective ones at that because nobody believes that party gives a shit about anybody any longer. That’s how we got Obama. They gave him to us because people are fed up with tthem not giving a shit about anybody either. Bachman wouldn’t be saying SHIT if her party were in power and this were happening. And believe me they hate women as much as the Democrats do and they’re more experienced at it besides.

  63. the continuing horror of this administration marches on. Their blazing hatred of women very clear by now. I agree with you, Mary. I think you were the first one who said oilsoc is the anti-christ. I too think that.

  64. Hmmmm…..I don’t think OILSOC is smart enough to be he anti-christ….I see him more as Stalin – Lite……Evil fo sure…..

  65. I remember when Cheney was the anti christ. Neither of them is charming enough to be the anti christ folks.

The only people who can save women is women. It was always like that and the third wave dropped the ball and got complacent. YOu don’t let your guard down when only men are in charge. Women are 51 percent and they act like they are ten percent. It’s their own fault.

If EVER there were a clear sign of that, it’s the fact that they are now fighting for rights THEY ALREADY HAD AND LOST.

  66. I watched Good Morning America, and Robin Roberts did appear to be upset about this. They are asking women to weigh-in on this issue on their website. Also, Barbara Walters did an interview with Palin, and they have that on their website, too.

I’m with Uppity, on Bachmann. Ughhhh! Any feminist who hooks their wagon to that woman, will be sorry.

  67. Another Roz from 9 to 5, Bachman is.

  68. I was just reading NOWs blog and some of them are getting it, albeit kind of late. They are talking no more democratic support until they show them respect. It’s just unfortunate that women came so far and now have lost so much and have to start over gaining back what they already had and lost. That’s what complacency will do to you. They have to stop calling themselves a minority. “Women and minorities”. Wrong. They are the MAJORITY. They just don’t act like it.

  69. Eh whatever I like her and I will side with anyone fighting health care and this outright takeover. NOW is a bunch of men hating self serving freaks and always has been. Never got on board with them. In order to promote a change you can not do so with anger and hatred. They do in my opinion. Although they have done some good , damn little in my opinion it was the gals in the field that changed standards not an organization , they have turned too many men the other direction who were listening at one point. Radical groups like NOW will never have me on board. I know you see Michell Bachman as radical in her way but it is far from true she stands to her beliefs and for the Constitution and that I am on board with.

  70. ” If EVER there were a clear sign of that, it’s the fact that they are now fighting for rights THEY ALREADY HAD AND LOST.” – Uppity = nutshell….

  71. I’m not that familiar with Bachman, I’ve seen her a few times on TV.

I think ALL women of ALL political stripes should ban together. If this Bachman woman has a bully pulpit so be it, we should stand in solidarity with her and anyone else at the bully pulpit on this issue. Breast cancer knows no party affiliation, no race, no social class, and even no gender.

Perhaps someone could suggest that Ms. Bachman get together some women from both sides of the aisle and join forces with Komen and any other group to put a stop to this shit, right here and right now.

We are the majority but women don’t act like it for sure and the oldest trick in the book is divide and conquer………..we saw it during this past campaign and it’s in full play again. Let’s stand in solidarity with ALL women against this assault on our gender, no matter who leads the charge. Supporting someone that is fighting for an issue you believe in does NOT mean that you share every ideological belief with them……it means you share THAT particular belief.

    Just my two cents.

  72. A public option will at least allow women some choice! Now, it seems we have none. Where was Mr. Bush when these ideas were coming out? Don’t allow your anger with Obama to cloud your mind to the real ugly truth: women have been complacent and asleep at the wheel and the trucks have just about run us over. Be proactive. Start health support clubs that will pay for mams and other women services. Stop being tools of the insurance industry who won’t pay for birth control, sterlization, abortions or birth for that matter.

*****The first sentence of your comment is out of line. I removed it. If the discussions on this blog are not your cup of tea we are not offended if you move on.

Listen, don’t tell people on this board to get moving. My generation stood in the frigging rain and snow to get your rights you let slip away while we shook our heads and watched. Nice to see you woke up and figured out what most of us figured out long ago. Your rights are being stripped. You are 51 percent and acted like 10 percent for a party that pretended it gave a shit about you. now you are all begging for crumbs. You let the rape rap go on, you let the Hillary bashing go on, you let the TV commercials turn you into sex objects. And you thought is was all cute. Honor kllings in this country go unnoticed by you as if two plus two does not add up to four. The ball has been dropped and now it’s YOUR turn to carry the water. I’ll just watch.

This didn’t happen overnight. It happened by degrees because the third wave of phony feminists dropped their own ball. Now they will have to pick it up. Women shouldn’t HAVE to start “Health support clubs”. WHat the hell are you saying? Do you see men having to start health support clubs to take back their right to a vasectomy? Women are entitled to mammograms just like men are entitled to having their prostates checked. When oh when are you all going to be sick and tired of begging for crumbs and looking for ways to get things done that should be automatic. You are equal by virtue of your BIRTH. Stop being a tool yourself. Stop being a tool of the democratic party that has been threatening you with their crumbs for years. Act like you are 51 percent and don’t take any crap from these two women-hating parties!

You have to start all over again. There are things going on in this country that feminists would have NEVER stood for twenty years ago, even ten years ago. Now you will all have to start over again. Good luck. I already gave at the office.

As for the President. He is supposed to be the leader of his party. You would have your public option if he weren’t a wimp or if he even cared. He just wants his name on a bill so he can crow and preen. He doesn’t give a shit what’s in it. Hillary would have NEVER stood for this. Now you will have to all live with that, suckers.

One more thing. None of this is happening under Mr. Bush. They are happening under the sexist pig you voted for. The signs were there and they were ignored, at your own peril. When it comes to mistreating women and disrespecting them, Obama makes Bush look like a pussycat and Nancy is his Stepford Wife who would have the NERVE to even bring the Stupak to the floor.

    ******

  73. Somebody Bachman hasn’t said Boo about Stupak. It’s not in her party plan. What she has says is, basically, let’s not change the health care system, just like the Republicans have done for the past 15 years. They had a shot at SENSIBLE reform but they chose to do NOTHING. YOu won’t hear Bachman say boo about mammograms either. You watch. If she does, it’s only because she wants to bash the Democrats. She can well afford to pay for her own if she’s under 50, which I do not believe she is. No skin off her nose.

She does not stand up for women’s rights. Her party does and always will come before the rest of yor serfs. Just because she is dickless does not mean she is on your side. Look at how Nancy let Stupak come to the floor. Nuff said. With these two parties, anybody who puts party platform before women is NOT your friend. Ask her if she would support the ERA and wait for the crickets.

  74. This is the reason women are 51 percent and get treated like they are 10 percent. They don’t hear what people are NOT saying.

Maybe this mammogram assault will wake up some of those Republican women for a change. Women are being stripped by TWO parties and they are letting it happen.

  75. Women shouldn’t have to beg for equality. They are entitled to it by virtue of being BORN here. THis is bullshit. I am sick and tired of watching women look for crumbs. Dumb. Just Dumb.

  76. The biggest enemy of women is….sigh…..other women….I mean look how they treat Palin

  77. It’s true, women can be women’s own worst enemy. It’s a shame too, because women don’t seem to understand what power they have. I mean, I’m still LMAO at the sheer panic and hysteria going on at the thought of Hillary and Palin having a cup of coffee together. For goodness sakes, they didn’t even set a date and it’s not like they were planning a Coffee Summit to plot world domination of anything. All they did was speak respectfully towards each other.

Oprah and Palin also having a polite interview seems to have sent many people into a full blown estrogen panic. Three powerful women simply acknowledging each other’s presence seems to have sent the country into a tailspin. Fabulous, let’s do it more often.

  78. […] seem to matter to this task force that deaths from breast cancer has dropped 30% since 1990.  On Uppity Woman’s blog…which has a great post about this story today, I read in her comment section that a […]

  79. I might get slammed for this but Palin knew exactly what she was doing when she did the I’d like to have a cup of coffee with Hillary thing.

I’m telling you that if any Republican wants we disenfranchised democratic women in their camp they are going to have to start talking about Stupak and they are going to have to speak up about mammographies. WHen Sarah does that, let me know. At this moment, I have heard crickets from her on these two subjects.

I am not going to vote for my oppressors even if they are dressed like women.

  80. This just infuriates me!!!

I wrote a post about this today (hope you don’t mind, I linked to your post and pointed out a few of the comments here…they were too good to pass up).

As I pointed out in my post, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 70 years old. Her mother had it when she was 75. If my mom had not had early detection, before the cancer spread, she would probably be dead today. She was able to get by with a lumpectomy along with radiation and chemo. She didn’t have to lose her whole breast. If she did not have that mammogram for another year, the results would not be the same.

But hey…she’s old and our government wants to get rid of as many people on medicare as they can. Why not start with the women?

  81. ROFL Oprah and Sarah. The bots heads will surely explode.

  82. I read your post, Mary Ellen. It was very touching and they don’t care. At age 75, they want you gone. Especially if you are a woman. Your mother means nothing to them and neither do you.

  83. Uppity, I’m certainly not asking anybody to vote for anyone. Oprah is talk show host, Hillary already has a job, and so far, Palin is not running. I just want to see more powerful women practice some sisterhood in public, show each other some basic respect, and to threaten to have coffee some day. That’s all it takes to cause sheer terror in the hearts of the patriarchy, just the suggestion that women may at some point go rogue and start aligning themselves with each other. That’s not to say that anybody has to give up their belief system, it’s only coffee after all (and the threat of plotting world domination, LOL.)

  84. I’m sure that their coffee meeting will be fun, ytt.

Women cannot go rogue if they are at odds over their own basic rights. THat’s all I am saying.

  85. Connect the dots. First, abortion, then mammograms. In all quarters, Religion, Government, Business, men are suppressing women.

    Dots. Dots. Dots.

First the rape and murder rap music. TV Commercials returning to the 50s sex object theme only much sexier. People ignoring honor killings. Hijab being “sexy”. Add it up up. They are all dots. If you don’t fight one, all of them descend upon you.

  86. I have emailed the NPR story, as well as links to this post, to mcnorman, and now Mary Ellen’s post. I can’t imagine that we even have to be discussing this much less talking about “Health support clubs” for OB/GYN and other women’s health issues.

    It. Is.Absurd.
It is demeaning, and completely devaluing of my personhood. And yours.

This is more than a public health issue. This is a device to divide women from women and divide the country. We need to Get Rid of the Bastards In Congress.

  87. Ah, but uppity, women can go rogue even when they disagree. When a man’s wife and his mistress sit down for lunch together, he is toast. They may have nothing in common but the same cheating man, but that’s alright. Just the simple act of refusing to hate each other changes the whole dynamic.

  88. Uppity, Ed Morrissey notes that the panel doesn’t have a single oncologist on it.

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/11/17/feds-to-women-in-their-40s-skip-the-mammogram/

  89. Women can’t go rogue so long as they are captive by a political party and its rigid platform.

You can’t be horrified at the treatment of Palin if you weren’t horrifed by the treatment of Clinton for 15 years. And vica versa. If so, you are a phony who is tied to your party only, not to the right of women to be respected.

  90. Hot Air published the members of the committee…..

  91. I think I’m in spamalot but Hotair blog has a good piece on this too…
    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/11/17/feds-to-women-in-their-40s-skip-the-mammogram/

  92. Well I guess I am a dot lmao. Listen I do not want any of my money going to support abortion. I am not anti abortion I am PRO CHOICE. As I have said I do not like or believe in abortion. To me it is murder and to me it is no different then tossing an infant at birth in a dumpster to die. I can see no difference. It is a baby. But again that is me and though I do not support abortion I also feel since it was made legal here I have to support that too. What I do not have to be forced to do is to fund it. Abortion to me should come out of pocket. Again you know if you had sex, you can have the morning after pill and bingo. I feel abortion is again between you and your God or conscience but I am strong in the opinion although legal it is not ok to force me to pay for something like this. There is compromise if one looks for it.
Now in regard to mamograms he first if you want one it should be available. That is a given as should pap smears etc. This is ludicrous. As for weather or not they are good things I have my own opinion but it is a given it saves lives in many cases so again this is routine screening as a guy getting checked to Prostate cancer come on it is not rocket science here.
Now regardless of politics Michelle Bachman screamed it loud and clear to the nation this bill kills seniors and women and that you need to see. Maybe politically you do not like her I can get behind that one because you know I do not always get behind Hillary but what I do say is when she sees a wrong like this politics be damned she stands up and that is what I do like about HRC.
I wish she would right now. This is where IMO Hillary would have been better to all had she stayed in the Senate.
Finestien, Boxer, Pelosi and others of this ilk do not give a crap about what everyday woman gets. They have walked on all of us who gave them the ability to be where they are today. They took and rode our skirts and then threw us to the wolves.
I would go so far as to bet that if Sarah, Hillary and Bachman sat together and discussed this damn kill women bill they would put political differences aside and fight a fight for the lives of women because they each go for women.

  93. What IS it with this damned spam????

I’m sorry Artist. I have no idea what the heck is going on with WP spam.

  94. Ed Morrissey is the voice for feminists now? Scary!!!

  95. I think the spam is picking up any comments with links.

  96. This is one time when I wish Hillary were in the Senate because she would at least fight for women’s rights in the health care bill and she would be damned sure that the Senate bill would be sure those guidelines would not be put in the new bill and that health insurance companies and the government cannot refuse to pay for those tests.

But we don’t have her…we have a bunch of men who will decide this.

  97. I have to agree if HRC had stayed in the senate she coulda made a difference….shamed the other women into opposing this….sigh….

  98. not a single oncologist on that list of ….TOOLS

  99. wca ~

Do any of those task force members work with actual people – patients? or do they only work with facts/figures/data eliminating any human factor. Of course when working with numbers, it is easy to eliminate “waste”. Unfortunately it is different when there are real live people involved and/or affected by decisions. I wonder if any of them could look their 71 year old mother in the eyes and say “sorry, too late”.

    f*ckers.

  100. workingclassartist- Not to mention…look at all the women on that task force…they signed onto this??? WTH???????

  101. Fuck them.

What UW said : Here Here!
Trying to talk sense to the young’uns is like banging your head against a wall.

  102. Most of them look like academics….But does it matter? The point Morissey is making is that 6 months ago these same people were urging women to get the mamogram at 40 because they saw a small drop in early exams….( maybe the industry complained about lost revenue? ) aaaand now 6 months later they reverse?
It is a blatant example of scientific information being skewed for political agendas…..Aaaaand wasn’t this what the Left has been accusing the right of doing forever ???
They are TOOLS…and we won’t be fooled ??? I’m just sayin’ Sometimes it is hard to breathe in the stink of hypocrisy that wafts across the nation from DC……

  103. I think Camille Paglia said there is a special place in hell for women who betray their sistas…..
This s about GREED…..After passing the bill in the house the Govt. don’t want to pay for the procedures….It is as simple as that…..GREED & of course the deception that comes with it…..

  104. There is a lot of stuff in that bill Nancy didn’t want us to read….And we will all suffer because of it…..

  105. Ok…this is kinda off topic, but goes to the issue of women’s rights.

I was looking around the Internet and checking out some of the websites of the Obot nature to see if this story even made a blip. Nada on Huffpost, of course. But then I went to Taylor Marsh’s blog and what does she have as her lead story today? Sarah Palin. She half-heartedly supported her by talking the sexist cover on Newsweek….but then she blamed Sarah for posing in work out clothes for the health and fitness magazine, Runners World. I guess women should wear their burqa’s for running these days.

Anyway, below that she has a post where she is trying to use the Afghan Institute of learning to benefit herself and her blog. She wrote: “For every $20 you give, TM LLC will donate 10% to the Afghan Institute of Learning.” Then she goes on to talk about her “committment to women’s issues”. But where or where is her post about these new breast cancer guidelines? Nada….

I guess unless she can figure out how to make a buck off of it…we’re not going to hear a peep from her.

  106. Taylor Marsh is a TOOL…..a hack only out for the gratification of her monstrous EGO….just sayin’

  107. “I think Camille Paglia said there is a special place in hell for women who betray their sistas…..”

No, it was Madeleine Albright. And her exact words were, “There’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t help other women.”

  108. Bbbbut Nunley….this made news headlines yesterday….priorities is priorities…..
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,575281,00.html?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a16:g2:r1:c0.272135:b28883510:z10

  109. “Taylor Marsh is a TOOL…..a hack only out for the gratification of her monstrous EGO….just sayin’”

    agree 100%

  110. thanks Roz….or the correction….

  111. I think it’s not specific enough to say that women are women’s worst enemy – I think that male-identified women are women’s worst enemy…..

  112. Nunley…heres another news headline about priorities…..chuckle…..

How to woo a man… flash 40% of your flesh: Science (and a few nights out) solve an old dilemma

  113. Hmmm….Lorac not all ladder kickers are “male identified” some are just driven by plain old simple misogyny ( a hatred of their own kind ) not just for competitive reasons…
then again some are misanthropic and hate all people….

  114. workingclassartist- I don’t know…I think my Habit is rather appealing to men, I think. It must be the wimple. 😉

  115. WCA, if I’m reading you right, you’re enlarging the female-ID vs male-ID to include a 3rd option, misanthropes. While it may be true, I think if women were female-identified, they wouldn’t participate in things that hurt women.

Although, I suppose a case could be made for misanthropes at least following the same path as male-ID women, in that latching on to power is more enticing than being fair to others….? (in politics, anyway)

  116. Well it looks like Axelrods backpedalling has started a fight….amongst the democrats…I am heartroken over this rift in the unity party….
    http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/68089-stupak-i-have-votes-to-defeat-health-bill

Of course I think the whole bill is a sham & I’d be OK if all the bums were thrown out…..

  117. Lorac….generally when anybody is that driven by their EGO….they end up seeing other humans as tools…fools….or obstacles…..
Most people who become power hungry are corrupted by the vice….They cease to even pretend to serve….

  118. Having spent a large portion of my life in corporate America and working with other women in leadership roles, I have to say that I do not believe ladder kickers, as we called them in business, are male identifed. Instead they are self Identified. Often a ladder kicker got up the rungs because another woman helped mentor her. SHe does not feel she owes the favor back to anyone. It all goes back to the saying that we really need to watch to whom we give power. Ladder kickers are very cognizant of how few the slots are for women. This panics them. Therefore, they like to keep the competition pool lean and they can do this by ruining it for other women because of the position they are in. I recognize Nancy very well. She’s a ladder kicker. And in Corporate America, Timing is everything. I have seen ladder kickers dig some pretty big holes for others, onlly to find that at the first available opportunity, all of those women she helped to hold back will help to push her into her own hole, toss some dirt on her and go out to lunch and have a great laugh.

Not all women are ladder kickers, just as not all minorities in power are ladder kickers. But they are there. Clarence Thomas is a ladder kicker.

  119. Now Nunly, everyone knows that you can’t get into the habit.

  120. The other thing about ladder kickers is they don’t really hate other women, they just want them out of the way because of the minimal slots available. They will play their male superiors to the nines to keep others of their own gender out of that way.

  121. Yes, some women are “tools” as you say. But they are not ladder kickers because they will never get high enough on the ladder to make a difference. They are entrenched as a tool and once you are a tool you will always be nothing but a tool to the men. You reap what you sow.

  122. Paglia’s a tool too. She would never come up with a profundity like that.

  123. There is a lot of stuff in that bill Nancy didn’t want us to read….And we will all suffer because of it…..

And that makes her doubly odious and a traitor to women. We put the wrong person at the top of the ladder. But remember, men helped her. That’s because they instinctively knew she would be a ladder kicker. They would have never given that chance to a woman who wasn’t.

  124. Ooouuuu…that Taylor Marsh thing. I got that too and the witch blocked me out of her blog when she switched (overnight?) from HRC to Obie. Thank God it went into the spam folder and I just deleted all the junk.

I’ll bet there are no age restrictions on prostrate exams are there ?
W.C.A. I don’t think they start doing the PSA test until guys hit the five oh. That’s when they started that with me.

Oh and Uppity…I posted a link in the comments last night at The Widdershins about this article. Hope you don’t mind.

  125. No I don’t mind at all Fred. Thanks.

Email this congresswoman and thank her. SHe had a double mastectomy and is demanding hearings on the mammogram findings.

    http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/68137-congresswoman-wants-hearings-on-new-breast-cancer-screening-guidelines

    Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.)

NOT Michelle Bachman. NOT Sarah Palin. Just saying.

    Still waiting….

  126. One woman in power I secretly admired, although I didn’t agree with her politics, was Condi Rice. Condi Rice is a true professional.. She can and does stand toe to toe with men, commands respect and not only does she take no bullshit, but nobody would even try to hand her some. This woman would be an outstanding CEO. She is comfortable with who she is, confident she knows what she knows and would not have a need to be a Ladder Kicker since she can hold her own with anyone in a compeition of competency. She wasn’t “a woman” or “an African American,” when you dealt with Condi. Instead she was just damned brilliant.

  127. But it sounds like you guys are equating male-ID women with ‘female haters”. I don’t think they’re the same.

I think male-ID women take their identity and self-worth from the approval of men. They don’t hate women but they really don’t see them as inherently equal. Therefore, they don’t get their identity or self-worth from themselves – they get it from men. They’re not all that interested in other women, because women’s encouragement or approval doesn’t do anything for their self-worth, because women are “less than”.

I truly think it’s a big reason why women aren’t more united – because too many of them need men’s approval for their self-worth. In other words, they’ve internalized the patriarchy.

Female-ID women get their self-worth from being who they are, and they haven’t internalized patriarchy. They’re the ones who are more concerned with helping other women. Their primary concern isn’t whether men will approve of what they’re doing.

  128. Fredster, Marsh didn’t get a chance to dump me. I dumped her first.

  129. lorac, ladder kickers do not hate women. They simply don’t want them in the peer to peer competition pool.

  130. Uppity, they should have given the checkbook to Condi back when the economy tanked. lol

  131. I guess I’m talking about male-ID women and you guys are talking about ladder-kickers…. I think we’re talking about two different things, which may overlap….

My point was that I don’t think that female-ID women would work to pass laws against women… or even kick other women off the ladder…. and that I wish we had more of them in public office….

  132. lorac i still don’t see this to mean they are Male Identified. They are tools. Tools try desperately to please men in the hopes that things will go smoothly for themselves. Therefore they would easily vote against the best interests of women in general, to make their own lives comfortable.

    They are generally cowards.

  133. swiped this from the comment thread at Hotair cause well it makes ya wonder…..

This is all one big ruse so that they can say with plausible deniability that under the new Health Plan that they are not rationing care we are just sticking to federal standards in place prior to the plan ever being even passed. This is pre-rationing plain and simple. Up next “No need for that colonoscopy men! Too many false positives.”

Psycotte on November 17, 2009 at 12:39 PM

  134. I am so grateful Hillary is not in the Senate right now. True, she would step forward and fight for women’s health but she’d be stuck in a bind. Oppose the HC bill or roll over on women’s rights? It would be a no win situation. What are you supposed to do, support your own party, throw women under the bus, pass a crappy bill and go down in history as a team player? Or do you oppose the bill, piss off your party, support women, and go down as an obstructionist? You know what the smartest thing to do would be?? Get yourself appointed Secretary of State.

I really don’t envy any of our genuine feminist congresscritters. All four of them.

  135. lol ok maybe we’re saying the same thing, but from different angles – maybe they’re not male-ID (though I suspect they are, as we’re conditioned to be that way and we have to fight to become different than our training), but they’re not female-ID, either….

But then we’re back to what WCA said in the first place lol

  136. yttik, the system makes that difficult when you have a rich dickhead telling you that you are going to have the primary of your life in your next election and that the money that will be earmarked for your opponent will be staggering. How else do you think they got superdelegates to cave in for Obama, eh?

  137. First they will try to bride you.
if that doesn’t work, they will threaten you
if that doesn’t work, they will set up up.

  138. WCA – I don’t know if they’d start messing with men’s health – they might be worried about too much backlash if they did that. Maybe they’ll settle for the “cost-savings” from seniors and women…. they still have other groups, like handicapped people, to steal from before they have to resort to men lol

  139. You got that right, lorac. Men are sacred.

  140. lol ok maybe we’re saying the same thing, but from different angles – maybe they’re not male-ID (though I suspect they are, as we’re conditioned to be that way and we have to fight to become different than our training), but they’re not female-ID, either….
But then we’re back to what WCA said in the first place lol

Hey lorac, I have an idea, let’s just call them all assholes

  141. According to what I read, too many false positives amounts to 10%. Way too high. But I am sure that the remaining 90% will get excellant pallative care. I am starting to think that we need to really fight or leave the country to someplace more hosptiable to women..like Saudi Arabia.

  142. Uppity – let’s not forget the blatant sexist cover of newsweek magazine this week… where is the outrage? Palin keeps being portrayed as a barbie doll… which is pathetic… it was a photo taken for running magazine – how is the picture appropriate for newsweek… What a scum rag… boycott newsweek… pass it around…

  143. they based the data on Norway…Now they eat gefeltafish a lot over there….but nobody is lookin at that as a possible cause of cancer…..Just lookin at that on a table could give a person cancer….just sayin’

  144. Uppity – Yes, i think we can all agree to that!

And for sure, no one could call an “uppity woman” a “male-ID woman’!!

But – maybe the awfulness of this admin is “good” – he’s finally “uniting” us – AGAINST him…

And what WCA said about men’s health coming next – whether it is or isn’t, we should be throwing that around, because maybe it will wake them up, too! If they’re worried these reforms may affect THEM, then maybe they’ll fight for REAL reform, and not what this admin wants.

  145. MissP.

Overall, i would say the outrage was the same place it was visiting when THIS cover appeared.

  146. “Hey lorac, I have an idea, let’s just call them all assholes”
    what she said….

  147. Same magazine, different gender.

  148. lol….Oh God Uppity….that cover…..OMG….

  149. Oh the messiah one made me hurl…..

  150. lorac, what scares me is I am not convinced he is uniting us in a useful way. The current women’s organizations have no idea how to fight. The current fake feminists have no clue either. Not at all. They are lazy, complacent and have to get thier nails done for the party tonight.

  151. Eh I guess this goes with weather or not you see the glass half empty or half full. Team play is no longer optional here. We are talking life and death. We are talking tossing people in to the fire here because of gender. Team players ? Bull if I were either Dem in the Senate or Repub. it would matter not who I pissed off and what my future career was I stand on the side of what is right.
It is none other then I expect every elected man and woman to do because they all have mothers, daughters, Aunts, and grand daughters. If Hillary was in the Senate I would expect her to fight for Chelsea and Chelsea’s daughters and I bet she would over being a team player and I listened to Michelle and Sarah doing it too. I heard the double Mastectomy one speak too and she spoke loud against the opposition on Cspan but voted yes I believe on HC bill. I think we are talking about a blond lady here and if it is the one I heard then her vote should have be a loud resounding NO maybe I have her mixed up with another.

  152. Congress is full of millionaires….They don’ give a shit about anybody outside DC, NYC, LA, Chicago……Not unless you have loads of $$$ to pay them off….Men will be next….It’s classic divide and conquer….By race….gender….class….income….AGE…..etc……

  153. The thing is, Palin’s situation is the rebound from 15 years of doing it to Hillary. If you thought it was fun to join in, if you did nothing, what can you expect now? The die has been cast. I feel badly for what they have done to Sarah but they learned it from the Republicans who did it to hillary and most of the Republican women had noooooooooo problem with that. Like I keep saying. You reap what you sow.

You want to talk courage and tenacity? Try putting up with that bullshit for 15 years and still bouncing back.

  154. Men. Will.Not.Be.Next. Men are in charge. This means they target women, old people (especially old women) and everyone else except themselves. Their health care will not be targeted.

  155. I know, Uppity. I go from being enraged and feeling power that we’re going to fight again, to realizing what you said, and feeling so sad at what the current “crop” are.

Personally, I think that in many ways (particularly the depiction/objectification of women in media), women’s predicament is much, much worse than BEFORE the second wave.

I can’t get out of my head the advertisement (maybe for a men’s cologne…?), of the men on the deck of a boat, one on top of a woman, and the others (half dressed) watching. It speaks volumes.

  156. This will once again become another “issue” that gets watered down to becoming a special interest doohickey….spread confusion and disarray….a classic tactic…..

  157. I don’t know her at Utah. But I do find it amusing that an literally unknown congresswoman had the balls to speak out before someone like Bachman who has her face on TV every ten minutes. That’s all.

  158. Look, Mitt is their quarterback. He’s still in the locker room, keeping quiet, and rested up. We will see where the party, and the money, is in regards to Palin, when they are ready for Mitt to take the field.

  159. lorac, I truly hope I’m wrong, but I think the Gen Yers see sacrifice as some kind of fun. You know, live without electricty, pretend you are saving the earth, while you are getting obliterated by your government. I think they think this is some kind of fun game and that it will all go away when they want it to. I think they are too tied to their parents financially and know they will be rescued so they can afford to be stupid. What they don’t realize is all their rights are being whittled away and one day they are going to be invoking one of them only to find it is not there.

  160. Maybe you are right Uppity….Men won’t be targeted….
I guess I see this as an overall strategy to demoralize and disempower the entire populace….And when this happens usually women, children and Old Folks are first & the “young and fit” are manipulated into carrying out the dirty work…..

  161. lorac, take that advertisement you are referring to. And I’ve seen even worse. I saw one with a woman chained ala S and M. Ten years ago nobody would have dared even TRIED to do such an ad. They do it now because THEY CAN. I hate to say this, but I think it’s over, because this gen of fake feminists aren’t fighters. I hope they prove me wrong.

  162. Unfortunately Swell, I am not so sure I am thrilled to have a Mormon president. Ever work for a mormon? I did. And let me tell you he had no respect for women in the workforce. The only consolation came about 7 years later when he ended up working for me. Now THAT was fun.

  163. I’m worried about how now they say Obama is saying that he won’t let the abortion (non)funding amendment stay in the bill. I see it as him causing a problem, then swooping in to save the day (more illusion for the masses). It also wouldn’t address the fact that other women’s health services (like the mammograms we’re talking about) are being whittled away, but women may be lulled into a sense of security, just focusing on the abortion issue being resolved.

  164. Maybe they can eliminate pap tests too.

  165. If Naomi the I feel Pretty idiot is an example….You are right Uppity…..

  166. lol on the consolation, Uppity

  167. Yes lorac, I mentioned in my big piece that it’s possible that amendment won’t stand. Once again the democrats are deliberately scaring the shit out of women to keep them in line and make them thank them for crumbs and rights that are theirs to begin with.

And you are right. They are counting on the fact that the Manicure Feminist crowd can ony handle one thing at a time and mammograms will fall thru the cracks. I do hope they understand that they could be the next death.

  168. I don’t like Romney….He’s not solid….& although Huckabee is scary….he’s more fun to watch….just sayin’

  169. Yeah Swell. He left the company, which is exactly what they wanted him to do and I was happy to help out. Heh.

  170. Put a kitten heel to his backside. Atta girl!!!!

  171. Yeah AnnE, a pap every five years. Abnormal cells, no big deal. Let’s see how it flies.

  172. Wait until they start making you take out supplementals for sports injuries.

  173. OK, here’s the perfect compromise – a ban on abortion, but only for male babies – meaning, you can abort female babies, ala China. Then we won’t need to pass these restrictive health rules for women, because most of them won’t be born!

You know, it’s really scary that there is nowhere to turn. Neither party is there for us. The next generation isn’t there for us, or for themselves. It’s not pretty.

  174. uw at 3:21 pm: lorac, what scares me is I am not convinced he is uniting us in a useful way.
    —————
He’s dividing more than we could have imagined (as always) ‘New government guidelines for mammograms released Monday by the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force have left women feeling confused and the medical community divided.’

    www dot foxnews.com/story/0,2933,575428,00.html

Also I’ll admit to being challenged in many ways – had never heard of US Preventive Services Task Force so searched and found it’s celebrating 25th anniversary. Fumbled around a bit more and found Recovery Act Funding at this site:

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has opportunities under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) to provide patients, clinicians, and others evidence-based information to make informed decisions about health care. The Recovery Act contains $1.1 billion for comparative effectiveness research. Of the total, $300 million is for AHRQ to build on its existing collaborative and transparent Effective Health Care program. This page provides links to AHRQ Recovery Act funding announcements, information on reporting requirements, and key announcements.

    www dot ahrq.gov/fund/cefarra.htm

So they are up to doing O’s job.

lorac: you’re right – O up to making himself to be a hero save the day for pro-choice.

  175. Pamela, any agency that is appointed by someone is going to do their bidding. It’s as simple as that. Beware of task forces and betware of authorities. They are simply pimping for politicians so the politicians can pretend their hands are clean. That group belongs to Obama and that is why their announcement is so perfectly timely in time to cut costs in health care. And more profit for insurance companies. That’s what’s ReALLy important.

  176. from what I have read this panel is largely responsible for influencing the private insurers as to coverage……So I guess we have had a govt. funded death panel for a while?

  177. They were probably initially there to protect the public from greedy health insurers. They gave them mandates. Of course their puprose has now changed to cutting costs. And of course women are the best targets. So they went and found a study, had to go out of the USA to do it, but you can bet the health insurance industry will be sponsoring more studies to “prove” them right.

  178. This. Is. Priceless. GOt it from nobama blog.

Here’s a stimulus success story: In Arizona’s 15th congressional district, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that’s what the Web site set up by the Obama administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says.

There’s one problem, though: There is no 15th congressional district in Arizona; the state has only eight districts.

  179. That’s being reported all across the country, Uppity. Stiumus money doled out to districts that don’t exist.

  180. Eeeks! *stimulus

  181. Say it so, Joe!

  182. Must be the Goldman Sachs district.

Ok coffee spit. Been there done that. Loved taking the upper road after having taken shit from a guy I worked for roffffffff
As for the Mormons they are not that way here but lol of course you have a mix. Romney is not real well liked though. Eh not sure about him myself after the roof top dog thing.

  184. this is interesting…..author has been spending a lot of time over at opensecrets site….

  185. I looked at the backgrounds of the US Preventative Health Task Force, and not one of them is an oncologist or an ob/gyn. We have several pediatricians, several professors of public health, an epidomologist. BTW, the US has the highest incidence of breast cancer in the world–around 40,000 women will die of the disease in any given year. In addition, the task force was recommending that women not be taught/encouraged to do self exams. There was a Merck study that said that 80% of abnomarlaties were discovered by patients and follow ups, ie, mammography confirmed the sad news. Wonder how the task force will view prostate cancer?

  186. Uppity, it’s time we revive the chants of
    “Death Panels! Death Panels!”

See they were right about the “Death Panels.”

Has anyone looked up the statistics on breast cancer to see which age groups in which it is most prominent ?

My intuition tells me it may be young women (much younger than age 50) just as testicular cancer is really a disease of young men, and not old men.

Of course the old men in Congress have a disease all their own – Congressional aids. JK

  187. Here’s a link to ABC news on the fictional congressional districts

    http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/jobs-saved-created-congressional-districts-exist/story?id=9097853

  188. FYI

“younger women tend to have more aggressive breast cancers than older women, which may explain why survival rates are lower among younger women.”

Probability of Developing Breast Cancer Within the
    Next 10 years
    By age 20, 1 out of 1,985
    By age 30, 1 out of 229
    By age 40, 1 out of 68
    By age 50, 1 out of 37

It does appear to have a disproportionately greater rate among younger women.

Especially when one considers that the “in out of” quotes are accumulative.

  189. Heaven forbid that women may be facing this path if this nonsense is allowed to continue.

  194. utah at 3:22 “it would matter not who I pissed off and what my future career was I stand on the side of what is right.”

You need to give those legislators a lesson.

  195. Agree than men’s health will never be compromised.

I don’t think they start doing the PSA test until guys hit the five oh. That’s when they started that with me.

If anything, the next tactic will be to frame the issue as one of parity. Earlier screenings for women? Unfair!

    *****A

  196. May I, as a Canadian, comment. This is bloody insane! That’s all.
I cannot believe what is happening. It’s machievallian. I don’t care if the big O has arranged this so he can ride in on his unicorn and veto it. This is horrible.

  197. Yes HT from Canada….it is a crying shame!

  198. Well nobody can say this thread hasn’t been cathartic.

  199. […] Of Abortion Services Over Time. And we’re all forced to buy insurance. Is it sinking in? And mammograms won’t be covered until age 50. The American Cancer Society thinks this is a horrible […]

  200. The following link lists the members of the task force making this recommendation:

    http://hotair.com/archives/2009/11/17/feds-to-women-in-their-40s-skip-the-mammogram/

There isn’t a single oncologist among them!!!

  201. posted a couple of times up thread…..

  202. That TNR cover of Obama is revolting beyond words.

  203. That Newsweek cover on Palin was disgraceful; I tossed the mag in the garbage without reading it.

  204. Have one thing to say to any Obama Rama gals out there who might be reading. You will live maybe not long but you will live to regret this and bashing the women who fought to give you your rights. Have a great time trying it all over again oh and most likely we will be gone and not able to coach you as to how to restore them or maybe we will just not give a shit anymore.

  205. Got THAT right, Utah!

  206. Hey Obama Girl! Hope your ta ta’s stay ok because Obama doesn’t give a shit if they are. I’m sure you’re a “Third Wave Feminist”. lol.

  207. This really sucks, you know. My daughter is 17. She wasn’t down for any of this Obama Rama crap, but she will be blamed with the rest of the girlz who actually let this happen. She will suffer from their ignorance. Yea, I wan’t to say, screw your girlz, fix it your own damn selves, but I can’t. I have to carry water again… for my daughter. And to the Mom’s and Dad’s who raised Obot girlz, screw you!!!

  208. Come to think of it, how about HIS boobs?

  209. Breast CA can happen in men too.

  210. Apparently not often Enough.

  211. What about BO’s “ta tas”? Never understood the appeal of that shot of him in the surf.

  212. Whoa! UW at 10:30 pm — I made a similar comment (really I did!) before I scolled up to yours.

  213. Moobs on him

  214. GMTA NES

  215. Thxxxx

  216. And another thing. Maybe I don’t want to pay for all you 40 something muffin azz softball players who rip up your knees and elbows every frickin weekend trying to relive your high school glory days. It’s pretty hard to claim you play ball to keep in shape, when you limp into work on Monday hung over from all the beer you consumed, and fat from all the pizza you ate, at the sports bar after the game. Get a supplemental policy, we can’t afford your reckless stupidity anymore.

  217. Swell, your point is indeed interesting and well taken. The ins co’s would probably love to saddle people with all sorts of tabs for their lifestyle choices. Just like the auto ins co’s nail people for age groups, mileage, type of car, etc.

The breast cancer thing is really cutting like a razor because it isn’t as though people can do anything to prevent it. If it is isn’t genetics or family history risk, then it is just the luck of the draw. And one would hope that routine screening would be available and covered benefit if desired. At the minimum, it should be covered if there are ANY history or clinical findings of suspicion. But even people who want peace of mind should have it available and covered. A life is a life and has supreme value in our earthly world.

UTMDACC quote in post said it best. “You have to screen more women. It’s the value we put on zero women dying.”

  218. I know of two women who had BC with NO family history of BC or any other cancer.

  219. Crier I think the statistics up thread on the chances of getting it in the 40s are very telling right there. These people are going to kill women unless someone stops them.

  220. UW, absolutely they are telling. Vast majority of women get BC WITHOUT known risk factors/fam history. And what are they supposed to do? Twiddle their thumbs while an ins co tells ’em ya gotta wait x # years before mammo indicated?

Bottom line is SOMEONE has gathered up a sham group (where are the oncologists and breast cancer specialists?) to tow the line and take the hit if need be, so that the ins co’s can duck under cover so they won’t have to pay. That includes the public option.

  221. Well if we wait a few more years girls, yes you little pizza sucking , coke slurping Obama rah rah girls maybe you too will get what these women in the UK are facing.

    http://www.infowars.com/fat-mothers-to-be-banned-from-giving-birth-at-their-local-hospital/

You know I guess ladies we had better fight for these air heads because there are some young great women out there that do not deserve this shit.

  222. ROFL! YOu guys have GOT to read Femisex’s satire on Newsweek and Sarah.
    http://www.femisex.com/content/official-statement-newsweek%E2%80%99s-sarah-palin-cover-jon-meacham

Go over there and show her some love for this great piece!

  223. Eh, Utah, the third wave is all into being earthy and making pretend sacrifices to save the earth. They are all going to have their babies at home with no help while their husbands are out playing softball. Then they are going to get right up and clean up the place and cook supper. Hospitals are sooooooooooo yesterday!

They will never get fat. Or old. Or anything. In fact, they are always going to look 25. Or as they would put it in the new substitute for the King’s English…………Helllllooooooooooooooo!!!

  224. UW,
    1. at Femisex, I got ‘agenot found.”

    2. What is the meaning of “male-identidied woman?”

    3. That FL rep., Wasserman-Shulz, is an obot POS big-time. She is big for the hate-speech bill, as in , Screw.Your.First.Ammendment.Rights.. “Study” or “investigation” about mammograms is bullshit. If she really cared, she’d go on radio and TV and scream at the top of her lungs, “Stop this, you murderers.” And she’s blaming it all on the insurance companies, abaoutely ignoring that it’d a govt. plan. I think her “outragre” is not intended to restore mammo service, but to push the bill because it defeats the evil ins. co’s.

    4. Agree 100% about Condi Rice.

    .

  225. If it makes any of you who hated Newsweek’s sexist cover photo of Sarah Pali feel better, I just left a comment at the ragazine’s site telling editor Evan Thomas that the photo choice earned him the Scumbag of the Year Award.

  226. My mother many years ago had Fibrocystic breast disease which is really not a disease. But, they’d find these things and then have to go ahead and do a needle biopsy of them. She had had a hysterectomy years earlier and this eventually resolved itself with age. But still…they had to check it out to see if it was something else.

And don’t forget the other parts of these “findings”. Even at age 50, only get a mammogram every two years. That’s a long time for cancer to sit growing in some woman’s breasts. And I think they also poo-pooed the idea of self examination.

  227. I read that only 23% of physicians were female…..And although enrollment in Medical School is up I don’t expect this to change tings for a few years….

  228. Here it is in black and white:

Health care overhaul: Task force recommendations key part of reform
Panel’s mammogram ideas give peek at role in health overhaul

WASHINGTON — – It is a central idea in the push to improve American medical care and control its cost: experts studying the effectiveness of treatments and procedures to determine which work best.

That is essentially what the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force did before recommending this week that women in their 40s should no longer get annual mammograms to screen for breast cancer. If the health care overhaul now moving through Congress wins final approval, such advisories could become a central element in the nation’s health care system.

    www dot chicagotribune.com/news/chi-tc-nw-health-evidence-1117-1118nov18,0,1799351.story

  229. BTW: Network TV coverage of mammo subject was heavy last evening. Found it on NJN (NJ’s PBS), ABC Charlie Gibson had substantial coverage..

    This morning, nothing.

  230. Here’s the topper for me–the list of medical professionals on this government task force–not one is listed as an ONCOLOGIST!

  232. Polls show the more Healthcare bill is discussed the less public support it has…..WHY?…..Because this bill that congress won’t let anybody read is so flawed….PELOSI IS A FUCKIN TYRANT….nuff said
( Usually I would not be so blatantly crude…But how can a person even think of the name Pelosi without some pejorative either preceding or following her name?…..kinda like OILSOC….)

I mean she makes Gingrich look mild just as OILSOC the Pretender make GWB look smarter…..

North Carolina and Georgia are the only states that mandate all three types of cancer screenings for women according to these stats.
