PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla (WALA) – The tide isn’t just washing the oil over the beach. Wildlife is starting to feel the impact as well. An oiled dolphin was found beached on the shore.
“It had beached itself. Its sides were covered in a quarter inch of oil. We started splashing water, scraped oil off it sides and off its eyes,” said Christy Travis, who found the dolphin.
Help came immediately and they were able to stabilize the young female. Sadly, she died shortly after. What’s worse, is she may not be the last.
“It was very sad, it would make you cry. It was crying. There was pod of dolphins just off surf and they were jumping out of water and they were making noise,” said Travis.

Difficult to watch that video and not cry.
What can one say? It’s so horrific, it leaves one speechless. Mass murder of marine life – and ultimately of human life, cause everything on Gaia is interdependent.
So horribly sad to think we are watching the destruction of life on this planet as we know it. Jacques Cousteau knew- the ocean supports everything on the big blue marble.
And our government cares for nothing but their campaign war chests.
God help us all.

Just awful. All the more poignant since I just saw pods of dolphins cavorting in the (clean) waters of the River Sado in Portugal (60 kms. south of Lisbon).
Is it my imagination or is the MSM starting to lose interest in the BP story?
You know, I pay extra for the tuna that is ‘dolphin safe’ and this whole fiasco in the Gulf is really pissing me off. Btw, I am a conservative, and I visit your site once in awhile for the great posts from the ‘Paw’. And you know what — there’s a special place in HELL for these bastards who piss and party our nation’s wellbeing into the ground with their loser golf cart buddies while the marine life in the gulf is DYING — what a bunch of flippin’ BASTARDS!
Olga after they are finished, we are in what, day 82?….after they are done ALL tuna will be dolphin safe because all the dolphins will be dead. But the tuna won’t be dispersant or oil safe. I’m giving up seafood.
