A message from Gabby

No words can’t enhance this. We wish you well, Gabby. You are one brave lady.

I will return.

Of that, we have no doubt. And we will all be better for it.

Readers, get tissues first.

  1. OMG. Tears.

  2. Stunningly gracious message. I wish her the best.

  3. tears….stunning… thank you karen and Anthony for giving me some words……..thank you Uppity for posting it.
Gabby Giffords you are an amazing woman.

  4. Anthony I always loved when you got on a roll. Remmber 2008 when I visited you every single day over at that other place? I knew we would continue in touch and well, here we are!

  5. Gabby. That’s a ten tissue message, isn’t it?

  6. It brought tears to my eyes also. She is awesome. Wish her all the best. The video was really well done, btw.

  7. Hey Soph, I could think of 18 reasons that disqualify Newt from ever being human.

  8. “Anthony I always loved when you got on a roll. Remmber 2008 when I visited you every single day over at that other place? I knew we would continue in touch and well, here we are!”

O boy, do I remember…… And yes, I knew too and glad we’re both here

Jonathan just dropped out of site after he shut down Savage Politics. My writing on my site started out OK, but then went downhill with the political reality until it devolved to snark.

    Let’s hope this is a fresh start….

  9. Savage went into the crapper about ten minutes after you left.

  10. You really are a terrific writer, Anthony, and I KNOW how hard it is not to let politics get you down. I fall off the wagon myself now and then as you can see. It’s the normal course of things for a writer. You just can’t be on Game every day and if you are on Game for too long, you feel burnt out, which is what I do. Then it just takes longer to pick back up, but pick back up we do, because a writer can NEVER stop.

  11. I could think of 18 reasons that disqualify Newt from ever being human.

Couldn’t we all, but Citizen’s United is probably working on a plan to thwart our efforts as we speak.

  12. “because a writer can NEVER stop.”

    Like a f*cking shark…

From now on, if I’m not having fun I’m not even booting up.

    Happy New Year!

  13. Yeah good analogy, Anthony, if not a painful one. lol.

Now you know why I digress from the topic and just let some satire rip. If I laugh so hard I’m crying while I write something, I know I am refueling.

  14. Sophie citizen’s united is just one more example of how our supreme court has done as much to destroy our Republic as anybody.

And you know what? If the vote on the SCOTUS isn’t unaminous, SOMEBODY is making a mistake. These killers of the USA are using two different damned constitutions!

  15. Bless your heart and keep up the work Gabby. We know you will be back. ♥ ♥ ♥

  16. UW: I guess my attempt at a joke failed. I was thinking if SCOTUS could make corporations into people they could make Newtie into a people too.

  17. Oh man, Sophie, I feel like a member of DENSA. lolol.

  18. But I can redeem my stupidity by adding that if SCOTUS voted on whether or not Newt is human, the vote would be 5 to 4.

  19. Awww…the 18 things…thing isn’t there now. 😦

  20. Now you know why I digress from the topic and just let some satire rip. If I laugh so hard I’m crying while I write something, I know I am refueling.

Don’t add any liquor to the mix. Oh that’s right; you’re not Irish.
    Never mind.

  21. Yup, page is gone. The horrible thing about it is, it has happened so often that we just shrug now. Somebody made them take it down.

  22. Oh that’s right; you’re not Irish.
    Never mind.

No but I do get pizza on my keyboard.

  23. That’s just an extra snack.

  24. Heh. Too bad plenty of sites copied it first.

    1. “I’m not a natural leader. I’m too intellectual; I’m too abstract; I think too much.”
~Newt Gingrich, admitting that he’s an intellectual elite incapable of leading.

    2. “If the Soviet empire still existed, I’d be terrified. The fact is, we can afford a fairly ignorant presidency now.”
~Newt Gingrich, saying that it’s okay for the President to be ignorant.

    3. “The idea that a congressman would be tainted by accepting money from private industry or private sources is essentially a socialist argument.”
~Newt Gingrich, arguing that it’s okay for politicians to be bought and paid for.

    4. “Give the park police more ammo.” ~Newt Gingrich, responding to a reporter who asked what to do about the homeless a few days after the police shot a homeless man in front of the White House.

    5. “The problem isn’t too little money in political campaigns, but not enough.”
~Newt Gingrich on campaign finance reform.

    6. “I have enormous personal ambition. I want to shift the entire planet. And I’m doing it. I am now a famous person. I represent real power.”
~Newt Gingrich, blowing his own horn.

  25. wow, that’s just evil. Even the cached version is gone. How can that be?

  26. I could do without the far left editorializing at the end of each one though. They should talk.

11.“Now, we don’t get rid of it in round one because we don’t think that that’s politically smart, and we don’t think that’s the right way to go through a transition. But we believe it’s going to wither on the vine because we think people are voluntarily going to leave it — voluntarily.”
~Newt Gingrich, admitting that while they won’t kill Medicare outright, Republicans will try to make it wither on the vine and die.

12.“She isn’t young enough or pretty enough to be the President’s wife.”
~Newt Gingrich, talking about his first wife after divorcing her.

13.“I read Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them and I found frightening pieces that related to…my own life.”
~Newt Gingrich, talking about his problems with women.

14.“It is tragic what we do in the poorest neighborhoods, entrapping children in child laws which are truly stupid…These schools should get rid of unionized janitors, have one master janitor, pay local students to take care of the school.”
~Newt Gingrich, advocating for an end to child labor laws so businesses can fire union workers and replace them with cheap labor.

15.“We should replace bilingual education with immersion in English so people learn the common language of the country and they learn the language of prosperity, not the language of living in a ghetto.”
~Newt Gingrich. Two years later, Gingrich unveils a new Spanish-language website, The Americano.

16.“The left-wing Democrats will represent the party of total hedonism, total exhibitionism, total bizarreness, total weirdness, and the total right to cripple innocent people in the name of letting hooligans loose.”
~Newt Gingrich, smearing Democrats when in fact it’s Republicans who want to cripple innocent people. Remember when they cheered for letting a man without health insurance die? And speaking of exhibitionism and bizarreness, have you seen the Republican Presidential field?

17.“These people are sick. They are so consumed by their own power, by a Mussolini-like ego, that their willingness to run over normal human beings and to destroy honest institutions is unending.”
~Newt Gingrich, once again smearing Democrats, but telling the complete truth about himself and the GOP. Republicans want to kill Medicare and Social Security, the EPA, and several other honest institutions that serve normal human beings. Speaking of running over normal human beings, remember when Republicans cheered for letting a man without health insurance die?

18.“I think one of the great problems we have in the Republican party is that we don’t encourage you to be nasty. We encourage you to be neat, obedient, and loyal and faithful and all those Boy Scout words.”
~Newt Gingrich, advocating for hateful rhetoric and smearing opponents with lies.

  27. Excellent that you snagged the content…I was just scouring my temp dir. Thanks for saving me the trouble! Screw them if they think they can scrub the web. I guess most of Newt’s PAC money goes to the same place as Obama’s: Reputations.com

  28. 7. “Gingrich – Primary mission, Advocate of civilization, Definer of civilization, Teacher of the rules of civilization, Leader of the civilizing forces.”
~ Newt Gingrich, blowing his own horn.
    8. “The most serious, systematic revolutionary of modern times.”
~Newt Gingrich, blowing his own horn.

    9. “It doesn’t matter what I do. People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”
~Newt Gingrich, saying we should do as he says, regardless of what he actually does.

    10. “This is one of the great tragedies of the Bush administration. The more successful they’ve been at intercepting and stopping bad guys, the less proof there is that we’re in danger…. It’s almost like they should every once in a while have allowed an attack to get through just to remind us.”
~Newt Gingrich, at a book talk in Huntington, NY, April 2008, saying that Republicans should allow terrorist attacks on American soil to remind us of the dangers in the world.

My note: These would have been great if the author didn’t go off and spew after each one.

  29. We encourage you to be neat, obedient, and loyal and faithful and all those Boy Scout words.”

    Faithful? Huh? 😯

  30. I have enormous personal ambition.

  31. I find #9 the most egregious.

  32. Wonder how he scores on the narcissim scale,

Hear he is being referred to as the “angry muffin.” Trying to get that picture out of my head.

  33. I can’t believe this despicable, hateful person just won the SC primary.

  34. Hear he is being referred to as the “angry muffin.” Trying to get that picture out of my head.

Hahaha. I always think of the Pillsbury Doughboy when I see him.

  35. Relax gang. Newt will NOT be the candidate.

  36. Can’t shake out The Sibyl’s photochop.

    Talk about inflated….

  37. Upps, couldn’t agree more, no newt!

  38. Just wanted to let you know what a great blog you have–I LOVE it! Always have–it just gets better and better!

Many thanks for all you do.

    In liberty,

  39. Newt reminds me of the guy in The Dead Zone.

Newt will NOT be the candidate.

I wish I could believe that.

  40. MoJo:

While the network news shows spend this Sunday marveling over Newtmentum in South Carolina, Rick Santorum will quietly make his first stop in Florida, site of the next primary on January 31. He’ll be dropping in to see the honorary chairman of his state campaign—a Bush-connected Islamophobic pastor who says gays “make God want to vomit.”

  41. Hey thanks, DameTruth! I needed that! Sorry you were in spam. All first commenters land in there. And sometimes even the regulars do!

DameTruth: Camera: The Audacity of Democracy.

Show some respect, Gang. One day this movie will be the one historical item that will prove how Democracy was raped in 2008. That which is done in the dark will ALWAYS come to light.

  42. Pillsbury Doughboy turned into an angry muffin man, 😆

  43. Just finished the ABC News story about Gabby’s last hours representing Tucson and that her speech in the earlier video being “halting and strained.” UGH! Got news for ABC News=Your mumbling news anchors do NOT make pains to “send readable speech!” Gabby does. An old friend and sign language teacher wrote the book, Sending Readable Speech (for lipreaders and those who wanted to transmit speech that could be clearly understood by a deaf person/lipreader.) Gabby Giffords ENUNCIATES, has BETTER speech patterns than most news anchors. “I will return.” God, Gabby, we hope so.

  44. No hal, sorry I disagree. Not about the shitheads in the press for mentioning it, but about Gabby’s speech. She is struggling with aphasia. I know you cannot hear her or you would hear that her inflection, intonation and halting is a definite indicator. She wasn’t thinking of lip readers, she was struggling to speak and over enunciating as someone who is “learning” to speak. Nonetheless, I find it amazing that she has gotten this far in this amount of time and have more than a little faith that it will improve over time, but she is definitely struggling putting words out there. Nonetheless, I hate those bastards for pointing it out, which tells me they suck goats and they have bigger brain problems than she has right now, and none of them was shot in the head. God, I think these people are nothing but a bunch of sicko bastards and wish to Christ this country could fire the whole lot of them and get some honest people with some EMPATHY where it belongs instead of a bunch of self-impressed elitist assholes and Obama blowjobs. Gabby did an amazing job for a person who probably couldn’t speak at all after that freak shot her.

  45. I scrolled down and read Uppity’s comment following mine about Gabby’s speech problems. I too, have expressive aphasia from strokes and literally had to learn to speak all over again. I am confident Gabby will make a full recovery, BUT, it takes a long time. We’re talking in terms of years here. Ten years later, I was still “searching” for the right word. It’s VERY frustrating to often know what you’re going to say, but being unable to “spit it out.” Seeing how quickly Gabby has recovered this amount of speech, her prognosis is terrific. True, I can’t HEAR her words, but she makes more of an effort to be clearly understood than most people I know. As Uppity said, amazing job, Gabby.
