Open thread and Advanced Cat Yodeling

It was a long time ago when I first posted “An Engineer’s Guide To Cats”. These two guys are huge cat lovers and find homes for cats, sometimes using youtube. You can see some of their rescued cat videos at their youtube channel.

The fact that they are digit heads makes their videos hilarious. Last year they made some national TV car commercials, but I can’t remember which company it was.

Firt, for those of you who missed “An Engineer’s Guide To Cats”, here it is.

Here is their “Advanced Cat Yodeling” instructional video.

  1. Happy Abe’s birthday!

  2. Uppity, thanks for the big laugh this morning. It’s neat to watch the interaction of guys who love cats. They have a fantastic sense of humor. Plus they save cats.

  3. I’m just waiting for someone to come out with instructions regarding annoying dogs or any other animal. Domestic cats are a special target because they are usually so self contained and don’t worship us.

All of my many cats through the years have been teachers and entertainers and uncomplaining companions which is more than I can say for most of the human race.

  4. Twandx, not seeing this as funny?

I recognized me. For example, I’ve been doing corporal cuddling with my cat for years. Not to mention yodeling, I just didn’t know it was yodeling. Not to mention recognizing the smaller kitty being able to fit into those tight parking spots. I think cats are their, what you call target, because they adore them. And because they are a huge source of entertainment and very good sports with someone who loves them, as we cat people know.

  5. Whether you’re a cat person, a dog person, or any other domesticated animal person, there’s no doubt that pets are good for us. They give us companionship and bring us joy. They offer unconditional love, and that is a good thing. 🙂

  6. Cats only offer unconditional love at mealtimes.

  7. Hey Uppity!

I found a new website for you!

    http://www.banjonews.com/

  8. Yes Miiq, you could make that argument; that all love is conditional. Just as you could make the argument that all human relating is conditional. So I guess you could also argue that a clown’s humor is conditional….on another finding it humorous.😉

  9. Thought I would share this with you all . I live in Memphis, a black woman surrounded by Obama supporters. Life is almost unbearable here, but take a read. The article misses the point . What angers me is trying to compare Michael Obama with women like Sojourner Truth, Shirly Chism, & Fannie Lou Hamer who actually stood for something other than self promotion.

  10. good Sunday morning all. 🙂

  11. Hi Chocochips. Everytime I see your name I get hungry. lolol. YOu landed in spam because you left the ‘s’ off your screen name and spam things you are an imposter. lolol.

You know what bothers me is that hardly anybody even knows who Shirley Chisholm was except for those of us who Remember. It really pisses me off the way they shove women under the rug and I suppose a black woman have two strikes. These people make me sick.

As for michelle, the only thing I can say is that I think she’s smarter than her husband for sure. But of course he has a penis so let’s erase that. But she hasn’t done squat except campaign when needed, piss everybody off about food while scarfing down everything she tells everybody else not to eat, and travel a lot. She doesn’t have to do much more. She’s a first lady, and she doesn’t have to make impact if she chooses not to, but MOST first ladies know they have the power to do SOMETHING helpful. So you are right, why the hell are people outraged about her when greater AA women than her couldn’t be portrayed as “angry black women”. Because they were too busy doing things and making impact to have time to bitch and moan. I mean exactly where is her stress level? She ain’t no Shirley, that’s for sure.

  12. Cats only offer unconditional love at mealtimes.

I COMPLETELY disagree and could do hours on it. But if your cat isn’t an integral member of your family, what exactly should one expect. You reap what you sow.

  13. Yes Uppity how quickly we forget. I didnt.. I would sit and listen to stories the “old people” would share . I was fascinated by their accounts of what happened during the 50’s and 60’s. I had an aunt who worked behind the scenes( as alot of women did) with the urban league planning the March on Washington. She told me many things of Dr King ,Baynard Rustin a very close friend of hers, and many others. I have so much to share, but like I said, I dont know how to put it in words… My frustration is that the black community would pass a great legacy of these men and women to a two bit hustler from Chicago who could care less about their work and sacrifices. Any way I had to get that off my chest, now on to make cupcakes. Lavender, Strawberry, and Red Velvet.YUM:)

  14. UW – It appears you may read too much into my comment. Whatever else, a cat has great dignity and although some can get used to and even appear to enjoy constraint, it is not something they would choose – thus the wiskers to keep them from getting stuck in pipes etc.

Annoy, tease or handle any animal, in a way where they struggle, cry or show distress [including humans] is just a short step from cruelty. I am a cat lover and more – I am a cat, and all animal, respector.

myiq cannot expect to get from a cat anything he is unwilling to give. Of course they are family – just not his family.

  15. LOL Chips, I hope you have a body guard!

The thing with michelle being an angry black woman is of her OWN making. She has said some VERY mean and angry things and she has to live with her own legacy. People never forget how you made them feel.

Neither Barack of Michelle care aobut the people they purport to care about. As H44 always says, They don’t care and they don’t care if you know they don’t care.

  16. Of course they are family – just not his family.

I have two furry family members at the moment. Both have been with me for over a decade.

  17. twandx – myiq is a clown and sometimes he jokes with a dry sense of humor!

  18. What’s with cats that like to jump into the shower? I’ve had a few that were water lovers, but I’m, convinced that the newbies are doing it just to keep me from getting to work. I love them anyway. They absolutely know the routine. I tried to trick them by using another shower in the master bedroom. Hah! They were there. It’s a conspiracy.

  19. mcnorman, my parrot does the same. When the humidity drops and the skin is dry and irritated it is more common. Some pets hate water and others love it. my calico took a whole lot of wrangling (6 HANDS) to give her her one and only bath. She was a kitten and needed a tick and flea dip. Acted like we were trying to drown her. And others jump right in. Go figure.

  20. Mcnorman, one of my cats likes to jump in the shower but only after I have showered and exited.

  21. Well, I certainly can understand the parrot. I have one and it is necessary karen.

Ok WLM, sounds like that cat likes water, just not full force.

Ahh, cats are fabulous little critters. Each one has there own personality. I’m trying to learn how to spin yarn on a wheel and one cat seems to be Hell bent on helping me.

  22. I tried to give a cat a bath once. ONCE.

I’m lucky I didn’t end up in the emergency room. I still have scars on my psyche.

That was nearly 40 years ago.

  23. Ok, Uppity. I have spent part of my afternoon viewing the Paul and TJ cat u tubes. Those cats don’t have a dull moment in that household. These guys are fun!

  24. to one of our best Presidents.
    Happy Abe’s birthday! 🙂

  25. Uppity. Regarding J. C. Penney/Ellen, I just saw this on a financial website. CEO Ron Johnson in an interview said, “My instinct…is that spokespeople aren’t really necessary unless a company is going through a profound change,” he says. “We looked around…and Ellen was the one who stood out. She’s honest, she’s funny, she has integrity. Americans like her but they really trust her. She seemed to be the perfect person.”

When asked about the One Million Mom campaign against her and the feedback he has received, he said, “it’s clear we made right decision to stand behind her.” Her sexuality did not cross his mind, he continued, “My sense is America has moved beyond that issue. [This week] proves we have more work to do as a country to become more tolerant.”

  26. “I was fascinated by their accounts of what happened during the 50′s and 60′s. I had an aunt who worked behind the scenes( as alot of women did) with the urban league planning the March on Washington. ********
You should just “suck it up” and do it. :>) Just from the two comments here, you certainly have to “tools” to do it. In thinking back to the late 50s, early 60s, I continued to be shocked at how young King, Lewis, etc were. At that time, King et al seemed so much older to me. King was 26 at “Birmingham”, 34 at the march on DC, dead at 39. Lewis was 23 as chm. of SNCC, 26 at Selma; just amazing. The stories from your friends and relatives in Memphis shouldn’t be lost.

  27. Thanks for bringing up Penney’s. I was just going to ask if everyone has gone. I’m going in a little bit.

  28. Wow SHV, I never thought about that. They WERE very young. Not like these pissants today. Today, 23 is the new 17! What an indicator of how much maturity has slowed down since the 60s. Today we have 23 year olds still trolling off their parents’ health care insurance and food supply and these guys were taking on some real danger and responsibilities.

  29. Chips needs a blog to tell those stories!

  30. Wow WLM, greattttttttt quote from JC Penney!

soal, keep laker away from those burnout freaks! Way to go!

  31. Muslim in Alabama pleads guilty to plot to kill Barack Obama. He’s from Ubekistan and says he was working under direction of Islamic terorist group.

Get it yet, Barack? They hate us and we keep letting them in here.

Kodirov came to the United States in 2009 to study medicine and his student visa was revoked in April 2010 after he failed to enroll in school, investigators said.

    Gee, ya think?

  32. “Today, 23 is the new 17! What an indicator of how much maturity has slowed down since the 60s. ”

Maybe it’s something in the water that delays maturation or necessity that accelerates maturation.

About thirty years ago, I was sitting in the surgeons lounge at a VA hospital, smoking a Marlboro, and waiting for my next case to start. An older surgeon was talking about “the War” and how he had gotten a quick promotion from co-pilot to pilot/commander of a B-17 bomber after the pilot was killed. The next week he was one of the lead aircraft in the first US bombing run on Berlin. I was only partially paying attention to the story and dates but after doing a little math, I calculated that he was 20 years old at the time.

  33. No SHV, it’s not the water. It’s called getting everything you want, being sheltered from reality, living entitled off your parents, school coddling, and getting a trophy for just showing up.

  34. Kanye West is up for several Grammys tonight. If he wins any I hope Taylor Swift comes out on stage and takes the microphone from him so she can finish her remarks from last time.

  35. I calculated that he was 20 years old at the time.

Poppy Bush was 19 when he became a Navy pilot in 1943. He flew 58 combat missions. He was 20 when his bomber was shot down over the Pacific. Both his crewmen were killed.

This was back in the day when the children of the rich and powerful still fought in our wars.

  36. I don’t know if this video has been posted here before. I find it very relaxing for a Sunday evening.

  37. Kanye West is up for several Grammys tonight. If he wins any I hope Taylor Swift comes out on stage and takes the microphone from him so she can finish her remarks from last time.

I second that. and third it. The POS deserves it. And while she’s up there she ought to mention who deserves the award more than he does.

  38. Beata, someone sent me all the pictures and I had no idea how to use them all. Had no idea there was a video or I WOULD have posted it. Cats love boxes.

  39. And while she’s up there she ought to mention who deserves the award more than he does.

    Naw, that would be rude.

  40. Bunch of goatfuckers arrested in Canada on child exploitation/trafficking…sexual assault and prostitution ring. I guess we ought to give them visas.

  41. Anyone have recipe for Rutabaga. One of those impulse buys a few weeks ago that have been sitting around the house, unmolested, for long enough.

  42. Naw, that would be rude.

Yeah. I mean only a real classless, crass asshole would do something like that.

  43. SHV I’m out on the rutabaga thang. I’m sure Mom knows what to do with it though.

  44. SHV: Steam or boil and mash with butter, cream, salt, and pepper.

  45. I’ll be over for dinner SHV.

  46. chochip, love your screen name!

  47. Turns out Kanye didn’t show his face at the awards show.

  48. “SHV: Steam or boil and mash with butter, cream, salt, and pepper.”

I’ll try that route the next time. I did the sweet potato/squash route with butter, brown sugar maple syrup. Was pretty good; my wife ate it and wanted seconds, a real shock since she avoids eating vegetables.
