Give Peeps a Chance

It’s that Peeps time again.

Of course, we will have new recipes next week to help you disposition those leftover peeps. Someone posted WAPO’s Peeps Show VI, the Peeps Diorama contest winners link in a comments section –and forgive me, but I forgot which one of you great people did that. Thanks for reminding me!

We must remember that Peeps are Peeps too!

Hopefully, we can give Peeps a chance to recover from their Not Quite Unearned Reputation as shown here.

Besides, Peeps can’t help it if they taste like shit.

The WaPo Diorama contest is as good as it was last year too. So click on the link for some good laughs. Here are some shots from the entries.

  1. Hey Uppity – the grands are here & they insist on turning speaker volume OFF … at the desktop level yet. Had me in a tizzy for awhile, but finally I caught on. By noon, I’ll have them returned to their house. By 3 I’ll be back here to enjoy your annual peep post. Thanks in advance.

  2. Occupy Peeps

    Is peepius minimus Bam?

  3. How much ‘nip didja have to give Bill to get those bunny ears on him?

  4. Family Blog Disclaimer: Don’t click this link unless you are over 21:
    Ultimate Peep show

  5. Peep attack (like flamingos but with peeps)

  6. Oswald, it’s my guess that Bill was passed out when he was Eared. He has been investigating this incident and have narrowed down his suspect list to two. Now, I’m not going to say here, but somebody is in for a world of trouble. I should also say that Bill does not rule out more than one Uppityite involved in this disgrading act. Not for anything, Oswald, but if I were you, I’d worry.

  7. LOL McN. I suspect only Barack’s Peepus is Minimus.

  8. Just Peepin in to say.Good Friday everyone. 🙂

  9. Loved the Peep show!

  10. That link is a hoot. So many great peep pics to choose from.

  11. Excellent representation of the POSeur, a true metaphor;)

  12. Sophie, you didn’t notice that peep show on the sidebar? Gonna chip in for your glasses.

  13. Seriously! I didn’t see it until much later. Of course, my eyes are weary because I can’t put Ani’s book down! Forgive me?

  14. HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY (((((((((UPPITY’S))))))))))

I’m actually at home on this BLOG——–you know what that means
I won’t get ANYTHING DONE———-I remember during the primaries, I got nothing DONE, and I mean NOTHING—– I gained 30 lbs during that year and 1/2 because i DIDN’T WANT TO MISS A THING———

  15. Wow———WP is acting up again, Let’s see if I get through

  16. Ironic that people all over the InterWebs are wishing people a happy Good Friday, this being the saddest, most solemn holy day on the Christian calendar! (But nonetheless, it’s good and happy because I have the day off!)

  17. Read it and weep…..literally…at what could have been….

    (stolen from Still4Hill)

  18. Weep indeed, imust:

Women are the largest untapped reservoir of talent in the world

  19. What a great Hillary comment!

    And what a fun post…

Happy Good Friday, Happy Passover, Happy Easter!!

  20. Ani: I like the name of your book, but I keep hearing: The Hoodwinking and Bamboozling of the American Electorate.

I’m only on p.70 (got interrupted to do other things) and am LOVING it. I feel like we lived parallel lives. Then again, I suppose anyone who blogs and comments here would feel that way!

  21. Thanks SophieCt. Very kind of you.

It was so painful living in a media blackout in 2008 — feeling that no matter who we were or how we felt, it would not be accurately reported, or reported at all. We were not part of the narrative. The presence of intelligent, informed Hillary supporters was most inconvenient.

And yeah, I guess that is another possible title!!! 🙂

  22. Yeah, an Inconvenient Truth….oops…that title is already taken!
OT: Maybe Al Gore should write another book…
“An Ungrateful Keith”…LOL…I crack myself up!

  23. Or…”An Insufferable Host”….
    “An Infantile Bloviator”….

  24. Oookay then….[tap-tap]….is this mic on?? Yeah.
Don’t quit my day job, I know!

  25. Don;t think that, imust! Just off to run errands for my mom…

    You keep on 🙂

  26. No worries…I’m good…[sniff-sniff]…just kiddin’ 😉

Okay, now I think I’m just gonna have to stop reading these stories because I feel like SCREAMING!!!

“The conversation has been oversimplified” about women, Obama said. “Women are not some monolithic block … an interest group. You shouldn’t be treated that way.”

  27. Thanks Up!

  28. Should I bake oatmeal cookies or should I just break into the ice cream?

  29. I vote ice cream.

  30. 🙂

If I only had some pie…

  31. A slide show on how Peeps are made (really–not a joke):

  32. Thanks for contributing that link re the women pandering, imust — I think I feel a post coming on!

  33. Yay Anita! BTW, just ordered your book! Should arrive between April 12-13th! Can’t wait, at least I’ve already read the first chapter!

  34. Hey Imust,
I read (some of) the “obama highlights@yahoo” article you linked to. This is what I have come away with – so far . . .

At a White House Women and the Economy Forum, …snip… in which he says his administration has made women a priority.

“The conversation has been oversimplified” about women, Obama said. “Women are not some monolithic block … an interest group. You shouldn’t be treated that way.

I call bs. We have not only been treated like a special interest group by BOTUS et al. We have been treated like s*%t and I resent that he even thinks he’s speaking to us/me. I haven’t listened to him since before the 2008 GE. And I don’t even feel bad about saying it any more.

  35. Thanks so much, imust! the rest gets even better, I promise — well I guess I shouldn’t do that actually. Our sister and fellow UWers can tell you if they think so…

how do I make the embarrassed emoticon??

  36. A Blessed Passover and Happy Easter Uppityites. 🙂

  37. I’m back under my desk for the rest of the day. If I don’t peek out again, I wish everyone
    Good, good Friday.
    Happy Passover.
    Happy Easter.

and for the record, I like purple peeps…..;)

  38. under your desk…hmmmm..

  39. Taking a break from my peeping to say HAPPY EASTER HAPPY PASSOVER HAPPY PEEPS EATING!

    Peeps — the other P-word 😉

  40. Yes fembots, peeps, penguins and pie…oh my!

  41. “Women are not some monolithic block … an interest group. You shouldn’t be treated that way.”

No of course not Barack. They should be treated like hockey pucks and bargaining chips, you hypocritical woman-hating phony!

And isn’t it NICE of Barack to Mansplain what women are and aren’t?

  42. OMG!!!!!
Just got this from commenter Denise at Crawdad’s
Sit down before you watch it.

    Link to full speech:

  43. Where did you get the surveillance video of Oswald escaping?

  44. Welcome to the White House, everybody. It is a pleasure to be surrounded by so many talented, accomplished women. It makes me feel right at home. Although usually, I’ve got my wingman Bo with me. (Laughter.)

  45. With every paragraph I read (of Ani’s book), I am amazed to find how much of my anger and resentment of 2008 is still there, still as intense as it was on May 31. I am not over it one bit. We could have had a stellar president and instead we have this half-assed patronizing, condescending jerk. The Clinton’s are far better people than me because I want revenge.

  46. You shouldn’t be treated that way. (Applause.) Women are over half this country and its workforce — not to mention 80 percent of my household, if you count my mother-in-law. (Laughter.) And I always count my mother-in-law. (Laughter.)

  47. Geritol…my wife…I think I’ll keep her….

And then there is the woman who once advised me at the law firm in Chicago where we met. (Laughter.) Once — (laughter) — she gave me very good advice. That’s why I decided to marry her. (Laughter.)

  48. She can bring home the bacon…fry it up in a pan….

Once I was in the state legislature, I was teaching, I was practicing law, I’d be traveling — and we didn’t have the luxury for her not to work. And I know when she was with the girls, she’d feel guilty that she wasn’t giving enough time to her work. And when she was at work, she was feeling guilty she wasn’t giving enough time to the girls.

  49. And we’ve encouraged companies to make workplaces more flexible so women don’t have to choose between being a good employee or a good mom

Course he doesn’t have to make such choices…all he has to do is come home and pat his kids on the head and ask, “how was your day sweetie?”

And then finally, as a father, one of my highlights of every day is asking my daughters about their day, their hopes and their futures. That’s what drives me every day when I step into the Oval Office — thinking about them

  50. Sorry, I got carried away…there’s much more in the speech equally nauseating. The last paragraph when he mentions Hillary and how the door is open wider for the next generation makes my blood boil….imustgooutsidenowandSCREAM!!!!

  51. imust, if those women were reading Ani’s book, three would be no laughter and no applause. They would know what we know. They wouldn’t even be there.

  52. I am just so pissed off at this freaky lying, woman-hating president who gets away with using very very very stupid, gullible women fr electin purposes so that he can fuck them royally fr the next four years. No WONDER woman can’t get ahead. They don’t make these freaky men WORK for thier votes. He has done SHIT for women for four Effing years and now he makes a g’damned speech and they believe his bullshit.

  53. He drove all the brilliant women out his his bullshitting administration besides. Only reason hillary’s there is because he Doesn’t Dare.

  54. He brings that bunch of woman-abusing freaks, the Brotherhood, to the WH and women are cheering him? You think he talked about women to THEM? If so, what did he say, again?

  55. Yes, how did women get so gullible?

  56. And I know when she was with the girls, she’d feel guilty that she wasn’t giving enough time to her work. And when she was at work, she was feeling guilty she wasn’t giving enough time to the girls.

And I’m sure you didn’t give enough time to EITHER, you lazy bastard.

  57. Uppity, I hear ya’. It simply makes my hair catch on fire! When he made all those stupid sexist jokes there should have been silence in that room, like Sophie said…silence!

  58. And soon, insurance companies will no longer be able to deny coverage based on preexisting conditions like breast cancer, or charge women more just because they’re women. (Applause.)

We don’t know — we haven’t gotten on the dry cleaning thing yet, though. I mean, I know that that’s still — (laughter) — that’s still frustrating, I’m sure. (Laughter.)

  59. Who ARE these women who are clapping? I’ll bet this was a rigged audience.

  60. Dry Cleaners should actually all be indicted.

  61. Yes, how did women get so gullible?

Judging by some of the assholes my friends have married in the past, I would say Gullible is Ingrained in some of them.

  62. I am sorry. I cannot watch that bullshit. It will ruin my weekend.

  63. I see he has his token hot white blonds in the background.

  64. Here’s who was involved, organized by Valerie Jarrett:
White House Forum on Women and the Economy Details:

On Friday, Chair of the White House Council on Women and Girls Valerie Jarrett will deliver opening remarks and introduce a panel, moderated by Mika Brzezinski of MSNBC’s Morning Joe with Senior Administration Officials, private sector and academic leaders participating. Following the opening panel, the President will deliver remarks to an audience of entrepreneurs, academics, stakeholders, business leaders. Following the President’s remarks, Senior Administration Officials including Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, Attorney General Eric Holder, as well as the Director of the Domestic Policy Council Cecilia Munoz, Executive Director of the White House Council on Women and Girls Tina Tchen and Katharine Abraham, Member of the Council of Economic Advisors, will lead a series of breakout sessions on a range of topics including: Women at Work, Education, Health , Women’s Entrepreneurship, and Violence Against Women and Girls.

  65. RE: Gullible Women

The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any. –Alice Walker

  66. New Texts From Hillary added. Hilarious.

  67. Tweeted. Who says women aren’t a “Special Interest” to Barack?

  68. Peeps better not do any campfire singing. I think they are adorable.

  69. Uppity, you kill me!!

    Mansplain! Priceless.

This is the most disgusting election year pandering. How can he evengetthis stuff out of his mouth with a straight face? Never mind.

Please forgive me my stupid question…

  70. Uppity — translation re Hillary not attending Convention…go win your own damned campaign.

No more 180 campaign appearances for you…:)

  71. Ani, We already gave that answer here a while back:
Because he’s an actress and she is the real deal!

  72. That line is a paraphrase from Meryl Streep’s introduction of Hillary Clinton, by the way.

  73. Oh shoot…I hope you aren’t offended…It’s not meant to be a swipe at actors.

  74. Right you are, SophieCT…

By the way — did you all see the Tumblr with Barack at the top laying on the couch texting Hill, asking:

    What r u doing?

She is at the diner, texting back:

    Running the world.

    No kidding.

  75. Sorry I haven’t been around. Been super busy. But I’ve got me my glass of Grape Juice with lotsa ice and I’m just about to kick back and do some reading…

  76. UW — see my comment just above yours — I had the pictuer of this and now have to go look for it again — priceless. The expression on her face…

  77. picture… oy! (sp)

  78. That peeksure is in the link above, Ani. All the textsfromhillary are at one link. They add more every day.

  79. Peeksure …nice. I see the company manners are over!

  80. Hahah campfire, WLM!

  81. Did you see this Peep band:

  82. Hey, Peeps are yummy.

  83. ‘Tis a sad day for Peeps in America. They either will get eaten up by the gobs by those who like them, or annihilated by those who do not share in their tasty joy.

  84. I think the SGT PEEPERS thing was part of last year’s WAPO diorama contest.

  85. I see the company manners are over!

Yup! Next thing ya know we’ll be leaving the bathroom door open.

  86. And the seat up.

  87. Wow, Ups! The “Mister Bill” of peeps!

  88. There goes that WP giving me a hard time!

  89. So I guess you did see it then.

  90. Georgia’s new abortion bill forces women after 20 weeks to carry the child full term, even if the fetus is dead. Remember Terry England, the asshole who compared women to cows, chickens and pigs? Well..

“Life gives us many experiences…I’ve had the experience of delivering calves, dead and alive. Delivering pigs, dead or alive. It breaks our hearts to see those animals not make it”

  91. OMG. What is their reasoning for making her carry a dead fetus? For heaven’s sake, that man is a sadist.

  92. Okay now I have REALLY had it with wordpress. They have fucked me up in a way I can never forgive. As you know, if it’s not a youtube video, wordpress has forced us to load a video using VODPOD. I have hundreds of them on ths blog. Well, vodpod is now being transferred to So I get an email from lockerz saying if my vodpod videos are set to ‘private’ they will not be ‘transferred’. Then they tell me that if they are private I shoud change them to public. So I login to vodpod and get immediately redirected to lockerz where I am told to login again and NONE, and I mean NONE of my videos are there, which mean anywhere on this blog I posted them will go dead after the transfer. So I tried to find a place where I can send my account to “public’ and there IS none. This means Fuck You Very Much Uppity, Love WordPress.

  93. Well lorac, the law says no abortions after 20 weeks, NO exceptions. That means if you are going to die, you die. If the fetus is dead you shall just have to wait.

  94. I wonder if these right wingers just introduce ridiculous legislation that couldn’t possibly pass just to keep activist women occupied trying to retain their rights so we don’t have time to work on issues where we could move forward. And/Or They make a ridiculous bill so they move the compromise threshold further right (and it still takes your time away).

  95. Uppity:

You should talk to Dandy Tiger. He is the Ted Kaczynski of programming. He lives in the woods in Virginia somewhere.

He’s helped me load non-YT videos without using vodpod. When I asked for an explanation he mumbled something about source code.

Best of all – He will work for beer.

  96. imust or ani or anyone who knows – where is Ani’s site with the first chapter download? I am waiting for the kindle version to come out but would love to start reading it on-line before it does.

    I can’t wait!

Please list the linky-dinky, with a sugary peep on top.

  97. Karen, here is here website home page

And here is the first chapter

    — I don’t any peeps, sorry!

  98. Loading videos in wp free has nothing to do with programming, far as I know. If it did, I could write my own program. Saying anymore would be TMI. WordPress Free will NOT take any videos that are script or iframe, they say it’s because of security. In the domain owned wordpress blogs, the ones where you host your own blog, you can do pretty much anything. But, if he’s pulling it off with your place, he’s trumped my brain by a mile on this one. The thing is, I don’t have the time or the patience to do some coding on all the vodpod videos on this blog, probably hundreds of them. I refuse and I am disgusted.

Frankly, myiq, I am just sick of dicking around just to do stupid things that were a snap in blogspot, although you did have to use some code in blogspot. But videos were easy. Just embed. Didn’t matter the format. But then blogspot had other serious problems, namely a bunch of obama pissants who would trash your blog whenever they felt like it, lock you up, etc. Anyways, I am reaching the point where I just don’t care anymore. I do not want to do stupid dances just to post videos. I am looking for another place to go. I just don’t have the time, this blog already takes up too much of it. I am definitely in the I don’t care category at this point. Changing my profile from private to not private in vodpot for transfer to lockerz should take two minutes. And they give me no way to do it after telling me to do it. Lockerz looks like a place for ten year olds besides.

  99. Karen for clinton — glad lorac posted it for you — I am putting a website launch post up here on Monday! Was going to do it sooner but I figured most everyone would be out of town or busy with family and wouldn’t see it…

It needs to go viral!! 🙂

  100. Ani will be doing a post on Monday launching her website. Thats why it wasn’t posted in comments.

  101. btw, Karen, Amazon promised me the Kindle will be ready on April 11th…

let us hope! Because of all the endnotes the book takes quite a while to reformat for digital, apparently…

  102. Poor Dandy Tiger. THe unibomber. ROFL

  103. hey Myiq, can you email me the code to one of your non-youtube videos? If I see one, I have seen them all. I’m talking the code from the html editor.

  104. ooops!

  105. You know i was just reading over at myiqs in the comment section about Obama screening Mockingbird. I did a post on that book in 2010 when the book was 50 years old, and I gave them a link to the post. GWBush gave Harper Lee the Presidential Medal of Honor for the anniversary. She was 84. Harper Lee never did public appearances and she showed for that. Do you think that Narcissistic, self-indulgent A Hole Obama would think of such a thing?

  106. Dear Lorac,

  107. Regarding the GA bill, they did make some changes, albeit not very much:

As originally written by its sponsor, state Rep. Doug McKillip, R-Athens, the proposal would have cut by about six weeks the time women in Georgia may have an elective abortion. The Senate’s changes forced into the bill an exemption for “medically futile” pregnancies, giving doctors the option to perform an abortion past 20 weeks when a fetus has congenital or chromosomal defects.

  108. Here’s another peep’s campfire:

  109. imust: tee-hee!!

  110. It was compliments of my grad school friend who an academic studying abnormal behavior. Hmm….
