From Russia With Love

Hold on to your shapka, the media, in this case, yahoo news, is finally reporting on the bizarre connection between Deplorable Donald Trump and Deplorable Valdimir Putin!

The first question you may ask yourself is….what does Deplorable Donald have to gain, personally, from a bromance with Putin, and a cozy relationship with Russia? CHA-CHING, money of course! Many, many, many enormous amount of rubles, YOUUUGGGE bags of cash!

So, yes, it’s true that Trump has failed to land a business venture inside Russia. But the real truth is that, as major banks in America stopped lending him money following his many bankruptcies, the Trump organization was forced to seek financing from non-traditional institutions. Several had direct ties to Russian financial interests in ways that have raised eyebrows. What’s more, several of Trump’s senior advisors have business ties to Russia or its satellite politicians.

“The Trump-Russia links beneath the surface are even more extensive,” Max Boot wrote in the Los Angeles Times. “Trump has sought and received funding from Russian investors for his business ventures, especially after most American banks stopped lending to him following his multiple bankruptcies.”

Okay, so I get Deplorable Don’s never ending quest for money. But what does Putin have to gain from Deplorable Trump, besides the obvious perks of being a part of an exclusive, two dictator, mutual admiration  society?

“Donnie darling I love your hair! Your skin, it’s so brilliantly orange! You positively GLOW!….can we talk about those sanctions now?”

For a look inside what motivates Trumptin, or Putrump, let’s ask Carter Page! Who’s Carter Page you ask? Well, Donald Deplorable, besides himself, with his “good brain” and all,  has a small group of trusted advisors. One in particular, has aroused the interest of the U.S. Intelligence crowd. His name is Carter Page. Here’s Comrade Page on his way to work…..

“Paging Mr. Page…..paging Page. President Putin on line one.”

U.S. intelligence officials are seeking to determine whether an American businessman identified by Donald Trump as one of his foreign policy advisers has opened up private communications with senior Russian officials — including talks about the possible lifting of economic sanctions if the Republican nominee becomes president, according to multiple sources who have been briefed on the issue.

Page runs  a New York consulting firm, Global Energy Capital, located coincidentally, and conveniently, just around the corner from Trump Tower! His firm specializes in oil and gas deals in….guess where? Wait for it….wait for it….Russia! One of his YOUGGEE investments is in the Russian energy giant Gazprom.

Last March, shorty after he was named by Trump as one of his advisers, Page told Bloomberg News he had been an adviser to, and investor in, Gazprom, the Russian state-owned gas company. He then blamed Obama administration sanctions — imposed as a response to the Russian annexation of Crimea — for driving down the company’s stock.

Wowinski! This is getting interesting isn’t it?screen-shot-2016-09-24-at-10-47-10-am

You missed this on the TV news? No, not exactly. The TV news, (CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS) have been busy rummaging through Hillary Clinton’s underwear drawers. They’re too tied up reporting on her latest cough or clearing of throat to worry about Trump’s connections and nefarious dealings with a hostile dictator!

Fear not. At least we have some reporters in the print media who remember what their job is about… and a few politicians and government officials who care about the SURVIVAL OF THE FREE WORLD!:

The activities of Trump adviser Carter Page, who has extensive business interests in Russia, have been discussed with senior members of Congress during recent briefings about suspected efforts by Moscow to influence the presidential election, the sources said. After one of those briefings, Senate minority leader Harry Reid wrote FBI Director James Comey, citing reports of meetings between a Trump adviser (a reference to Page) and “high ranking sanctioned individuals” in Moscow over the summer as evidence of “significant and disturbing ties” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin that needed to be investigated by the bureau.

(left) Donald Trump, Melania Trump and Fearless Leader Putin pictured here during top secret meeting to hack into the DNC server.  Media is not concerned.

The questions about Page come amid mounting concerns within the U.S. intelligence community about Russian cyberattacks on the Democratic National Committee and state election databases in Arizona and Illinois. In a rare public talk this week, former undersecretary of defense for intelligence Mike Vickers said that the Russian cyberattacks constituted meddling in the U.S. election and were “beyond the pale.” Also, this week, two senior Democrats — Sen. Dianne Feinstein, ranking minority member on the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Rep. Adam Schiff, ranking minority member on the House Intelligence Committee — released a joint statement that went further then what U.S. officials had publicly said about the matter.

“Based on briefings we have received, we have concluded that the Russian intelligence agencies are making a serious and concerted effort to influence the U.S. election,”

Whoa! This is really serious.  I wonder if that Carter Page dude has had any contact with Putin lately…like maybe visited Russia? Hmm…no mention on CNN, just more checking of “optics” of CGI, a charity that saves millions of lives around the world.  A quick check of social media might yield some info….

Oopsie! Silly me! That’s not Carter Page! That’s Deplorable Donald Trump’s equally deplorable daughter Ivanka on a vacay in Croatia….with Vladimir Putin’s girlfriend… way back last month in August! Nothing to see here.

All kidding aside, Carter Page DID recently go to Russia:

Page showed up again in Moscow in early July, just two weeks before the Republican National Convention formally nominated Trump for president, and once again criticized U.S. policy. Speaking at a commencement address for the New Economic School, an institution funded in part by major Russian oligarchs close to Putin, Page asserted that “Washington and other West capitals” had impeded progress in Russia “through their often hypocritical focus on ideas such as democratization, inequality, corruption and regime change.”

At the time, Page declined to say whether he was meeting with Russian officials during his trip, according to a Reuters report.

But U.S. officials have since received intelligence reports that during that same three-day trip, Page met with Igor Sechin, a longtime Putin associate and former Russian deputy prime minister who is now the executive chairman of Rosneft, Russian’s leading oil company, a well-placed Western intelligence source tells Yahoo News. That meeting, if confirmed, is viewed as especially problematic by U.S. officials because the Treasury Department in August 2014 named Sechin to a list of Russian officials and businessmen sanctioned over Russia’s “illegitimate and unlawful actions in the Ukraine.” (The Treasury announcement described Sechin as “utterly loyal to Vladimir Putin — a key component to his current standing.” At their alleged meeting, Sechin raised the issue of the lifting of sanctions with Page, the Western intelligence source said.

Wait, Page went to Russia two weeks before the RNC? Ivanka met with Putin’s GF in Croatia a few weeks later?  Didn’t the Trump campaign change only one plank on the GOP platform during that convention? Something about Russia? Or not helping Ukraine if Russia invades??? Oh, no matter, if CNN isn’t worried about it…why should we?? Of course The Deplorable campaign has “no comment” on Comrade Carter Page. Only that he “doesn’t speak for the campaign”. CNN and MSNBC aren’t worried. Well, our government is worried. At least, some were even, “taken aback”….

“It’s on our radar screen,” said the official about Page’s contacts with Russian officials. “It’s being looked at.”

I hope he’s on the radar screen…..cuz we’ll be looking at this on our screen if the media and the government don’t get serious. Will Lester Holt even ask about this at the debate Monday? He better.  This.Is.Not.A.Drill.

  1. Whoa, Nellie! Something’s comin’ ’round the mountain!

  2. Sorry, but Putin is so driving the bicycle build for two.

  3. This was covered in the past two days by one of those MSNBC folk. Can’t remember if it was Chris Hayes,Joy Reid or Rachel M.

I’ve been reflecting the past few days ( way too much time on my hands) that determining someone’s character involves so much more than listening to speeches. It might serve Hillary well if she says something along the lines of…” If you want to know who a person is you need to listen to what they say and the words they use to say it. You want to look at what they’ve done with their life and time on this earth and what motivated them..have they been in service to self or others.? And finally;you may judge what they stand for by who stands with them. I am proud of those who stand with me..we stand for justice for all, compassion toward all;we stand for this earth and it’s survival, for human dignity and to make a better world for our children and our children’s children. Please stand up for this country, for our future..then look around and see who stands with will make you proud to see who stands with you.” ( Like maybe a group of Uppityites who have waited for and supported Hillary for the past eight years or longer. Who stood together in good times and bad. Who talked each other off the ledge more than once;celebrated major life events, animal and human. Kept each other informed and above all, made each other laugh. I’d stand with you all any day of the week)

    Confusion to our enemies!!

  4. “many, many rubles” lolol.

Oh…..and I’ll stand with you any day too! Loyalty!!! There is nothing like it~

  5. Excellent post, Upps imust. And now we wait for our media overlords to stop giving conflicting debate advice to Hillary and “analyzing” Cruz’s endorsement.

UPDATE: So sorry, Imust! Did not read the byline. (But I really did read the whole post!)

  6. I saw on the last entry Trump will be inviting Flowers to the debate. If she shows up BIG MISTAKE. This is not 90’s anymore. Trump is a sick PIG. Voters will see straight through him.
If he mentions anything about Bill.
She should look him straight in the eyes and say Mr. Trump Bill is not running for president I am. I take my marriage vows very seriously. Turn to the camera and say getting back to the seriousness of this debate and country start talking about the economy etc.

  7. imust:
“I must” say you got yourself an A+++ with this post. Sooo funny and on target.
I love the pix with the twosome blissfully driving into the sunset.. LOL!
Have you been working on it for a while? You delivery just on time…

  8. Why CNN is not all over this Trump-Putin dangerous liaison?
I guess is not sexy enough…
the story is sexy….the men are not….

  9. Thanks bellecat! I didn’t work a long time on it. Just this morning. Getting the photos in takes the most time, as Uppity knows.

Msdsal, I know a couple of shows on MSNBC covered this recently, but my point is, they may do a segment on something about Trump, but then they just let it go. They don’t hammer on it day after day like they do stories of Clinton, or anyone else for that matter. The media claim that he keeps doing crazy, outrageous things every day they can’t keep up! They have to move on! I say BS! He does those things SO THEY will not drill down on the real stories. Just yesterday, this story got new legs….what was the big news of today?? Gennifer Flowers! They need to stay focused like the print media does. That guy from WaPo, Farenhold?? has stayed on the story of Trump foundation, the other guy, forget his name, has stayed on the story of Trump’s charitable contributions, or lack of….they do multiple stories, every day….drilling down. TV news does not because they are just infotainment. Bradgelena’s divorce gets more play than Donald’s connection to Russian oligarchs!

  10. Haahhahahaha

  11. Oh my! This is getting good! Now ABCnews is getting in on the Russian/Trump connection!

  12. Confusion to our enemies!!

    CONCUSSION to our enemies!!!😈

  13. Gary Johnson ingested too much of the whacky weed before this.

For those too lazy to click on a tweet:

  14. Haha! He is a such pot head and a strange person.

  15. Great post imust!! 🙂

  16. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. Wendi Murdoch has horrible taste in men. In fact, you might say it’s DEPLORABLE.

  17. And why is David Geffen’s name on Ivanka’s instagram? Are they buddies? Remember in 2007 when Geffen used MoDo to smear Hillary? The media was gleeful with gossipy stories joining the character assasination. Geffen has been dead to me ever since. Now here’s his name on Ivanka’s instagram.

  18. It comes down to uneducated white men against the rest of us.
(Can’t believe more people think he’s trustworthy and in better health. That’s just stupid on top of stupid.)

  19. Wait…what? Isn’t this the same poll that had Hillary up by 10 points just 2 weeks ago? The media and their pollsters keep peeing on our legs and telling us it’s raining. Public polls are garbage.

  20. I hear Ted Cruz’s endorsement was aimed at Mercers support in the future than Trump. Makes sense for understanding the lizard rationale. But who cares at this point.

  21. Imust, great post and “I must” compliment you on the use of Boris Badenov, Natasha Fatale, and Fearless Leader. I still miss the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.

  22. Speaking of bromance, my friend who I thought was not into politics dropped the notion that both Trump and Putin are gay. But I was relieved to see how knowledgeable she was with what was going on in the media wrt Hillary and she was not happy.

  23. Based on Twitter chatter, it sounds like the Gennifer Flowers idea backfired so badly that Trump is backing off of it. Conway blames Hillary. Well, of course she does! Some Trump people liken it to Clinton camp inviting Mark Cuban. Trouble is he’s been a Hillary surrogate for months and never slept with Melania. So, no.

  24. I wonder if these data breaches were intentional and your identity sold to Russians for Money. With deplorable Donnie anything is possible, for money. OTH, emails, emails that hurt no one, right?

  25. Oops! Brassy, I meant to give you 5 stars and clicked wrong! So sorry!

  26. Saw this Sarah Kendzior’s Twitter TL. She independently mentioned the WHCD as Trump’s motivation in her own Op-Ed. Frontline video that does the same:

  27. pm @12:51, I firmly believe that was the motivator for Trump’s run. He was humiliated. We know his fragile ego. He no doubt vowed on that night to get his revenge. He would show us all! You can almost picture it.

  28. Right, imusthaveHillary. What a contrast with Hillary’s motivations, right? She realizes how much good can be done with that Office whereas this guy is after revenge and vendetta, besides plans to enrich himself and his family along the way.

Very good post, BTW. That the GoP is not repulsed by his commie connections, shows who really they are. Though there is no excuse for the media to not discuss this.

  29. Joy Reid had a segment/panel on the millennials. I am irritated by their attitude. For them to say Hillary is running a campaign based on fear as if they don’t see Trump for who he really is, they perhaps deserve a Trump. They whine that she is not giving them a reason to vote FOR her. Her whole candidacy is a reason to vote for her — the very reason she is putting herself out there despite all the stuff thrown at her is for you. If you are not smart enough to realize that, you deserve a Trump.

  30. Hey gang. How is everybody approaching first debate? I’m leaning toward DVR-ing (for history and repeat viewing), but following on a pro HRC site for a more interactive experience. I expect Hillz to rule … even if she has to do all the heavy lifting herself (including fact-checking the crass, clueless and classless serial liar). But I’ll probably also avoid immediate media analysis because outside a splashy Trump meltdown I don’t expect them to be remotely fair. IF Trump can pull off being calm and spout his simplistic but catchy, bombastic sound bite BS for 90 minutes, the media will fellate him per usual.

  31. Yeah baby! Now this is what I’m talking about! HRC hits him with the Russian connection!

  32. No problem, imust. Stuff happens. ☺

Lots of millenials will vote for Hillary. Those who are saying crap like Hillary is running a campaign based on fear and hasn’t given them a reason to vote for her are grasping at straws and have no intention of voting for her anyway. A visit to her website would give them literally hundreds of reasons to vote for her.

I’m guessing most of the holdouts have a problem with a woman candidate and/or love their weed more than anything. She can’t placate these people. If they vote for Johnson rather thsn Hillary, that says more about them than her because Johnson is only marginally better than Trump. Slightly more sane and qualified. That ain’t saying much.

  33. LOL imust–I was just going to post the YouTube!

In fact, I think I still will in case anyone wants the YouTube without the Tweet.

  34. aah the old polls are closer gambit just before debates…….

  35. “Every critic, every blah, blah, blah, will have to bow down to Donald.”

  36. I don’t particularly want the debate moderators to fact check to pronounce/show that the candidate is lying if there is a chance it might appear like they are taking sides. But I do want the moderators to ask difficult questions and follow up on them with more difficult questions and through that process show the audience the candidate’s lack of readiness, incompetence, and other weaknesses if there are any. Make them uncomfortable because they are interviewing for the most powerful job with the most perks. Media/moderator, just do your job, use your head, and do it well.

  37. The Abnormalization of Hillary Clinton
Wherein Jonathan Chait says The normalization of Trump is less consequential than the abnormalization of Hillary Clinton

  38. Digby was on to that in June

But the result of this “distortion toward the middle” as Jay Rosen calls it, has the perverse effect of normalizing Trump and pathologizing Clinton in a way that equalizes them to Trump’s advantage. There is no equivalence between them. He is an unqualified, unfit, unhinged authoritarian demagogue and she is a mainstream Democratic party politician.

  39. SophieCT, I think most people have caught on to that media strategy, normalizing him and demonizing her. Case in point was my friend yesterday and she had picked up on all that is going on and as I said before, I didn’t particularly think she was into this as intensely as we all are. So if she can do it, there are others who have picked it up too without much trouble. That gives me hope that the media will fail.

  40. It is laughable that Trump minions are so afraid of the moderator fact checking. They want to lie and distort with impunity and they are scared they will be called out on it. It is like him saying the election is rigged. Cowards!

  41. Her secret service code name better be Obi Wan Kanobi.

Turns out it’s Evergreen. WTF. They need to change it.

  42. Sophie, is that a leftover from her days as First Lady?
    I don’t hate it; I don’t love it but I don’t hate it.

  43. Sweet sue, I don’t know. I only know as of 2008

  44. We all need to stay on the media tomorrow and not let them grade Trump on a curve. We also need to hold accountable these pundits who are soft balling Trump.

As far as those millennials go, they don’t really want something to vote for. They don’t vote based on issues apparently. They want some airy fairy hope and change.

  45. My sil asked me why I thought that Hillary was running in the face of the Corporate sponsored gauntlet which, let’s face it, none of us would be willing to endure.
I said, “Because she’s really, genuinely patriotic.
She’s a true blue, mid century classic, dyed in the wool, hand over heart patriot.”

  46. Paulette I will be at the headquarters. We are having a debate party. I would rather be at home watching the debate. Peace and quite. I want to digest every word.

  47. Neeta, you’re in NYC?

  48. “Distortion toward the mddle,’ “grabbing eyeballs for the screen”; pure spite; obtuseness; actual bias toward wanting Trump to win; there are any number of reasons for the dreadful travesty the media, particularly the broadcast media, has become in this election. They were tending in this direction, but just vastly magnified it this time. The damage, both now and for the future, is inestimable

The Russian story is the stuff of scary ’60’s political fiction, but it is real. The broadcast media is basically not covering it so far. And any and all of the reasons are suggested in the paragraph above. The voters are invited by the media to view the election like one of their many talent or reality shows. Something has to be done about this, if we are to avoid Trump this time, and then the series of people in the future who are not as insane as Trump, but are awful in their own way. Imagine Cruz, Christie, Carson, Rubio, being the nomineee; how much safer would we feel? If the media does not cover the continuing attempted political takeover of this country by Russia, then how are we, now and in the future, much different than that country?. Bread and circuses are what the public is being fed in this campaign, misdirecting them from what is really taking place. IMust, thank you for putting it out in an article here. Maybe other courageous voices will pick up the story, which, I will risk criticism by saying, has more far-reaching consequences than the streets of Charlotte, which the media has spent the better part of a week on, with wall to wall coverage, forty days before the most important election in American history.

  49. William, you left out one reason.

The Grifter is the candidate of the Mediocre White Male, and despite perfunctory attempts at diversity, most of the members and owners of the Corporate Media remain Mediocre White Males.

No wonder they favor The Grifter. 😦

  50. Contrary to a prominent myth which has grown this year, the majority of support for The Grifter, and his equivalents in Europe, does not come from economically distressed citizens.

    “It’s the bigotry, stupid.” 👿

  51. Sophie We are having a debate watch party here in Cleveland at the headquarters. I wish I was in NYC

  52. So sick to the Hillary needs a different podium story. He is 6’3″ and she is 5’4″ so if one podium is chosen, one of them will appear ‘off’. If you made podiums for 5’4″ people, Trump will look stupid and it will hit him wrong. If you make the podium for 6’3″ people then Hillary will look like a midget. Why is the argument that Hillary wants a concession? The reality is that if you use the MALE standard then Hillary needs a concession. If you use the FEMALE standard then Donald needs a concession. Problem is that the world accepts the MALE standard as THE standard. Yes, I am yelling.

  53. I’m trying to decide if I want to go to a debate party or not. There are a few in my radius but then I’d have to drive home. What if I get a good bingo card?

  54. Sophie, I thought we had debate parties here in Uppityville? BTW, any ideas for a Debate Thread? [hint-hint]

  55. I’ll be watching on C-Span and going back and forth between here and Twitter world.

  56. I just finally watched the movie, “A Face in the Crowd.” We had better writers back then: Budd Schulberg, Paddy Chayefsky, Reginald Rose, Gore Vidal. They tried to illuminate the important social issues, and maybe warn people who would listen. They don’t make movies like that now; or rather they do on a very minor scale like “Truth,” and “Trumbo,” but not many see them, as they would rather see superhero blockbusters.

The folksy demagogue whom Andy Griffith plays, is at least partly modeled on Huey Long combined with a typical televangelist; but one can surely see intimations of Donald Trump. A media creation, who uses that medium to convince people that he cares about them, when all he cares about is himself. He entertains, so people think that he actually knows something. Lonesome Rhodes is finally unmasked when his microphone is left on when he thinks he is off air, and he expresses how much he despises the people who slavishly follow him. In this era, Trump expresses utter contempt for every one of our governmental institutions; lies about everything, and tells the few people who ask about his dealings, to eff off. And he gets away with it, because the media we have now is pretty much what Chayefsky ominously portended in “Network,” a bunch of people who care far more about ratings and political power, than in truth or journalistic responsibiity.

In the last scene, Walter Matthau’s idealistic character tells Patricia Neal, “You were taken in, just like we all were taken in.. But we get wise to ’em. That’s our strength. We get wise to ’em.” You can find similar hopeful and humane words in most of the works of the social liberal writers of that time. But in our current age, with a dumbed down populace which seems to care more about entertainment value than knowledge and insight, is it actually true? I guess we are going to find out, as we all hope that those lines still resonate.

  57. Love the post, imust! I feel like we’re in the Twilight Zone. Trump & his stooges need to be a top priority investigation. What a bunch of crooks and traitors.

    See you guys tomorrow night!

  58. The podium story is pimped by the patriarchy to remind us girls that podiums are not to be used by us. We are supposed to watch men use them. If we can’t follow the rules, it’s our own fault.

Oh, and Donald is only recently 6’3″ in order to accommodate his fat BMI. Previously, he was 6’2″.

  59. I blame the media completely for trying to destroy a very good woman. There is no excuse for this level of media malpractice. It should be criminal. Tonight’s debate will give Trump a larger audience for his lies. Holt will do nothing. It’s so sad that the media has come from the watergate days of investigative reporting to being nothing more than paparazzi. They no longer search for the truth. Who cares right? It’s just not what uneducated white men care about. The rest of us don’t count.

  60. Hillary debated Obama who is over 6 feet, and Sanders is tall too. I don’t remember any podium issues. Why can’t they use those podiums? They just keep putting up barriers for Hillary to knock down.

Voting, love the tweet with cartoon of Statue of Liberty!

  61. Human beings are weird people. A guy at work dislikes Trump and believes he is a danger. YET, says Hillary is terrible and goes on to cite lies Trump has stated about her. I remind him that he knows Trump is a liar. He says he yeah. But…

Like I said, Trump has already damaged this country. People are more weak-minded than we thought.

  62. Josh does a tweetstorm of Trump’s lies. Yes, this really is 1/189!

  63. Trump has done a lot of damage, but I think Bernie REALLY did a lot of damage. Even now, when he tries to “help”, he hurts her. His endorsement of her is just a….she’s bad but he’s worse message. That’s not enough. But since he trashed her to a whole generation, kinda hard to make a different case.

  64. riverdaughter is tweeting to know if the buffoon will be taking beta blockers tonight. The article she cited says it curbs outward signs of anxiety like hands shaking and such but does not affect mental capacity. Too bad it is not going to help little Donnie’s mental deficiencies. He should probably take zoloft or xanax for impulse control but nothing will make him smarter on knowing how to govern a multi-cultural multi-ethnic super power. Media which forced Bush on us will help him but hopefully voters are smarter this time around.

  65. I will be going to see Bill Clinton here in Cleveland Tuesday.

  66. imust: I agree entirely about Bernie. If Trump wins, I will never forgive Bernie. In fact, even if Trump loses. In fact, if Al Giordano (who blocked me because i wouldn’t toe his line) runs against Bernie in VT, I’ll still donate money to him!

  67. imust, you hit it out of the park on this top post!! Thank you.

“They whine that she is not giving them a reason to vote FOR her.”

Translation: She isn’t giving us free college, cancel out our student loans and make pot legal to sell, so why should we vote for someone like that? She reminds me of my mom, and I don’t need another mother.

  68. imusthaveHillary,

Yeah baby! Now this is what I’m talking about! HRC hits him with the Russian connection!

Haha, what PERFECT timing to throw tRump off of his game and force the moderator to confront this problem in the debate.

It could be the spark that ignites a bonfire, and if Hillary has to bring it up, she will.

Go Hillary, you go girl ❤

  69. imust

Sophie, I thought we had debate parties here in Uppityville? BTW, any ideas for a Debate Thread? [hint-hint]

Somehow you should declare Hillary the winner right off the bat, since the MSM will declare tRump the winner if he comes out of the debate still breathing.

The bar is set so low for him, it had to be placed in the bottom of a deep ditch.

  70. The podium story is pimped by the patriarchy to remind us girls that podiums are not to be used by us.

Hillary should have the size podium she is most comfortable at. She can paint it pink for all I care.

It’s not as if she has never been on stage in front of millions of people, standing at a podium before.

  71. One thing about the Teevee media I’ve discovered is that if they don’t have some kinda video to run, no story. Its just to over their heads to try to explain issues and concerns to voters so they run gossipy items that are trending ad-nauseaum. The pretty talking heads really have no grasp of the issues they can explain in 1 minute soundbites so important stuff goes unreported.
Its unfortunate because print media is practically dead to the majority who can’t take the time to read past page 1. This is an important story but one, I’m afraid will go under-reported to the uninformed masses.

  72. Time for some debate day positivity from the HRC campaign trail playlist .. ‘cuz we know the girl is going to slay! Katy Perry to kick it off.

  73. One more before an errand run. Y’all sing along now.

  74. To prove Hillary has already won the debate, I just donated before she even speaks.

  75. I’m going to be on the grassroots tweeter team tonight. So this means that I am going to have to either watch or listen to the debate. I fully expect the pundits to give Trump a win because they have lowered the bar for him. Hillary has to jump a high hurdle while all Trump has to do is not drool and fall over.

  76. Posted here with out comment. I have no words.

  77. If Hillary loses, it is because of the Left, and the media. I’ve never seen anybody whose nature was so distorted. Now the print media is writing some half-hearted apologies for their obscene and incessant email articles, but the damage has long since been done. Trump’s side has been goadng the media into covering nonexistent Hillary scandals, like the Clinton Foundation, to give their own very real scandals like the Trump Foundation cover. And the media has stupidly or delibetately fallen for it every time. So the average low-information voter out there thinks that HIllary is a liar, Hillary has done unethical things, you can’t trust her. All of which is uttterly untrue. That is a tragedy in itself.

As to the Left, they’ve hated Hillary for years. They hated Gore, they mostly hated Kerry. They have hated every mainstream candidate but Obama. Most of the problem in ’08 was the virulence with which the Left hated Hillary. So while Sanders was a big problem, it was probably inevitable that the Left would run someone who would attack Hillary at every juncture. The Republicans are pragmatic, they’ll vote for any Republican, just to beat the Democrats. Too many Democrats want what they think is political purity. Too many millennials enjoyed hating Hillary during this campaign, and don’t want to be reasonable now. Right now, it looks like the Johnson voters who are sloughing off, are the right-wing ones who are moving to Trump. The left-wing ones who just hate Hillary so much that they don’t care who wins, are sticking with Johnson, or Stein. That’s the Democrats; that’s why we’ve lost the House for the foreseeable future; why; we likely won’t win the Senate back, and why we risk Trump getting elected, and destroying the country. Sanders and his scornful, holier than thou puritanism absolutely epitomized the Left’s values; lose every time, but feel righteous about it. And now Sanders doesn’t understand why his voters don’t realize that his campaign was just a doctrinaire speechifying performance, and pragmatically move to work hard for Hillary to save us all.

  78. Turned off the tv . Sick and tired of them saying what Hillary has to do. She needs to be herself. End of story. Andrea Mitchell is the worse.

  79. They (the leftists) have hated every mainstream candidate but Obama.

Obama hardly proved to be the Left’s dream once he was sworn in. The hard leftists probably would have hated him, too, except for fear of the scarlet “R”. 😛

  80. The ideal outcome for Clinton would be if she could somehow provoke Trump into a meltdown.

O Great Ascended Madoka-sama, are you listening? 😉

  81. William, the only way Hillary will lose is if she doesn’t show up.

  82. Anyone else worried about the tightening polls in Colorado and Pennsylvania and elsewhere?

  83. Birdgal not really.

  84. Shadow thanks for the video. I copied it. This will be on my phone.
I am going to play this everyday. I e-mailed it to a bunch of my friends.

  85. There’s panic a brewing…I hear it on TV. I read it on twitter. Obama’s people are spilling their guts about their fears and regrets like she already lost!

That’s not the Clinton way. They don’t give up. They don’t quit. They work harder. I remember back in 92 or maybe it was 96….night before the election….Bill was like a madman flying from one event to another. I think he held events into the wee hours of the night! Landing on tarmacs and speaking….his voice was hoarse and almost gone. But he wouldn’t stop. He shook more hands and jumped on the plane to the next stop. They.Don’t.Quit

It was’s a story about it:

Winging around the country in 30 hours of ceaseless campaigning, Mr. Clinton made a final, grueling effort to generate a high turnout at the polls with a 4,106-mile trip, from the East Coast to western Texas. For this last push, he chose to touch down for brief airport appearances in nine states, ending at home in Arkansas on Tuesday morning.

His voice a rough-edged ruin after a week of 18-hour days and relentless schedule of speeches, the Democratic Presidential nominee limited himself to the bare essential of his pitch, the lure of change. Of Hope and Fear

“Never forget, never forget on this last day what this fight has been about,” he said in Philadelphia, “a fight between hope and fear, a fight between division and unity, a fight between blame and taking responsibility for ourselves and our future, a fight between comfort in the status quo and the courage to embrace new ideas, a fight between those of us who are determined not to see our children grow up to be the first generation of Americans to do worse than their parents and those who say, ‘Well, things could be worse.’

  86. There’s panic a brewing…I hear it on TV. I read it on twitter. Obama’s people are spilling their guts about their fears and regrets like she already lost!

Shut the bed-wetters off. Obama wasn’t doing any better at this time in 2012.

  87. These polls are all over the place once again. Remember when during the primaries the media was touting any poll that showed Bernie winning? Sheesh the guy lost in pretty much a landslide in the primary.

  88. Here’s another quote from Bill in that 1992 article:

At every stop, Mr. Clinton urged his audience to vote on Tuesday. “Tomorrow, you will be as powerful as the President, as powerful as any billionaire, as powerful as any candidate,” Mr. Clinton told more than 1,000 people who gathered here in Paducah, a small city in the tobacco-farming country of western Kentucky. “Your vote counts.”

Hillary could make the same argument today.

I agree about the nay sayers Sophie. They made it a horserace, and now they whine about how close it is!

  89. Yes, we do!

  90. Obama was actually doing freaking worse this time four years ago. Hillary has an average lead of 4 points while Obama had something like 1.5 points. So she’s doing over 3 times better than Obama and yet people are freaking out.

  91. What we really need is an MTV-style “Pop Up Video” debate. Every time Trump lies a little bubble appears that says “LIE” with a URL to the truth. Of course, it would have to be broadcast after the fact because he lies so much the folks adding the bubbles could never keep up.

On another note, I am so effing sick of the protesters in Charlotte. Not the ones who are actually FROM Charlotte. I’m talking about the professional, paid protesters who are here demanding things like the resignation of the police chief and mayor, cutting the budget for police to build community centers or something, releasing all protesters who were arrested and dropping all charges against them (including the ones who ransacked a Walmart and destroyed the Hornets fan store and, I’m guessing, the protester who shot another protester dead)… all kinds of stuff that has no bearing on the reality of the kind of city Charlotte is.

First of all, Police Chief Kerr Putney has done a wonderful job since taking over, and he had big shoes to fill, replacing Rodney Monroe who was hugely popular. He’s been with the Charlotte PD for his entire career and knows this city inside and out. Mayor Jennifer Roberts is probably the most liberal mayor this city has ever seen, or ever will see again. And just as a side note, our kids went to school together so I know from talking to her on a personal level that she is a true believer in the progressive cause. These are two huge allies to the AA community and it would be a real blow to have them leave office.

The more these folks cling to their 15 minutes of camera time, the more damage they are doing to their own cause. They are going to draw the Bubbas out and NC will be a red state once again.
